Chapter Twenty-two
"Luke is back in town." I say and then eat a fork full of scrambled eggs. The one good thing about Calum is that he is a excellent cook.
"Luke Hemmings?" He laughs, nearly choking on his bacon. "Didn't you two use to sleep together?"
"No." I shake my head quickly. "We were just friends." I add, leaving out the part about us being in love.
"Why don't you invite him over for dinner tonight?" He offers and I nearly spit out my orange juice.
"Really?"
"Why not." He shrugs.
I stand up, collecting both our plates and bring them over to the sink. He follows me. "I guess I could give him a call."
"Yeah it will be great." Calum wraps his arms around my waist and rests his head on my shoulder. "And I'm not stupid Taylor, I know the two of you use to have a thing, but that's okay because you're in love with me now, and I'm sure he is in love with someone else now."
"Yeah." I gulp and stiffen to his touch. He really does make me very uncomfortable. It's not like it was with Luke. I tingled under his touch, and when me kissed I felt a sensation in my stomach. But with Calum, I feel like I want to cry every time he touches me.
"Now I can show Luke that you're all mine." He adds and I bite down on my lip to refrain from crying. I haven't felt emotion in weeks, and with Luke back, all my emotions are mixed. I just clear my throat, unsure how to answer him and his hands find his way to my butt.
"Calum-"
"I have a few things to do before our dinner, cook some pasta one something, okay?" He says, sounding more like a demand.
"Okay." I say quietly.
Calum walks to the door, but before leaving the apartment he turns around and says, "Don't be all shy and shit tonight Taylor, you've been awful quiet lately."
"Okay." I nod and smile a fake smile once again.
Luke's POV
I sit here listening to Robin complain about how she misses the weather back home, I thought all hope was lost. Then my phone wrings.
I don't know who it could be. No one ever calls me anymore. I pull my iPhone out of my pocket, and the name across the screen is 'Tay'. I gulp, and with out thinking except the call.
"Um, hello?"
"Hi. Uh, Hi Luke it's Taylor. Taylor Irwin." He voice comes out nervous, but it soothes me. I forgot how much I missed her voice. Plus Robins so annoying.
"I know." I laugh lightly and excuse myself from the living room where my mom and Robin are sitting. "Whats up Tay-Taylor." I correct myself. Is it weird if I call her Tay?
"Well I was wondering if you would like to come over to my-Calums, well mine and Calums place for dinner tonight." She stutters and I smile. "Bring your girlfriend of course." Oh, yeah. I forgot about Robin for a split second to be honest.
"Yeah. Yeah I-we would love that." I bite my lip. "What time?" I ask at the same time she says "Be there at 5." And we both laugh.
"I'll see you at 5 then." I say. She gives my the address and we exchange goodbyes before I let her hang up first. That's something I always use to do whenever we talked on the phone.
I put my phone and walk back into the living room. "Robin, we are going to a friends house for dinner tonight. Hope you don't mind mom."
Robin stands up and nods, but I can tell by the look on her face she isn't happy.
"What friend?" Robin snaps.
"Uhm, Taylor. And Calum." Ha, fuck Calum he's not my friend.
From the corner of my eyes I see my mother smirking and I itch the back of my neck.
"I guess I better get changed." Robin sighs and stomps up the stairs.
Is it bad that I'm actually kind of embarrassed to be taking her to Taylor's house.
Taylor's POV
Ikeep checking the time. 5:01 and Luke still isn't here. Maybe he just decided not to come?
Calum is sitting on the couch, watching some football game and I am pacing nervously back and forth in the kitchen. The chicken pasta dish I made is almost finished, and if they are late it will get cold.
I sigh and check my phone again, to see that the time is 5:02.
"I don't think they're coming."
The door bell ring and I suddenly feel like I'm going to pass out. Calum, Luke, and Luke's girlfriend-Ronnie?- is all too much stress for me right now.
"Spoke too soon. Could you get that babe?" Calum asks and I nod.
I slowly walk over to the door and open it. There stands Luke, in simple black jeans and a black Nirvana shit, and his girl friend, wearing a very sparkly silver dress and 12 inch heels.
"Um, hi." I almost forget to speak. "Come on in."
"Luke, nice to see you." Calum gets up to greet Luke and his girlfriend. "And who is this?" He eyes her like she is a fucking model. He has never looked at me like that, but somehow I am grateful.
"Wish I could say the same." Luke mumbles, but Calum is too busy staring at Ronnie's breasts popping out of her dress to notice.
"I'm Robin." The blonde says and shakes hands with Calum. He introduces himself, and they start talking about money.
I roll my eyes, an hear Luke chuckle.
"What?"
"Nothing." He smiles. "It's just, you look different."
"Thanks?"
He nods and walks into the living room, and takes a seat on the couch.
"I would say make yourself at home, but it's too late."
"Feisty." Luke smirks and raises his eyebrow at me. "Nothing's changed."
"Everything has changed." I take a seat on the arm of the couch and look down at the floor.
"I get the feeling were not talking about the same thing." He sighs. Before I can say anything Calum walks in and announces that dinner is ready.
I have never been more thankful to see Calum in my life. I can't do this right now. I have so much to say to Luke. So many questions to ask, but I'm going to need time.
I can't rush into things.
-
"So how long have you two been seeing each other?" Calum starts the conversation. I sit there silently, afraid of the response.
"Um, 8 months?" Luke says and Robin nods.
Well, nice to know it only took him 3 months to get over me. It's been over a year, and I'm still in love with him. And it fucking sucks.
"How did you two meet?" I push, looking straight at Luke and he swallows the bite of pasta he just took.
"At a bar or something." He shrugs. "Taylor this pasta is really good."
