7: Maria?

(A/N) : preeetty long chapter :)

Silver and Sonic were ordered to spend free period cleaning up the cafeteria, so you decided to go and drop off your books in your locker. You punched in your combination and opened your locker to immediately shut it again after seeing a glowing green jewel in there. What the hell? Was that a chaos emerald? You open your locker when no one is looking and stuff the jewel into your bag when you suddenly notice another object in your locker. A music box, engraved with the name
(y/f/n) Robotnik. Robotnik? This must belong to someone else...

At that moment, a hand held my wrist and I was dragged into a forest. "What the hell, Shadow!?" "Sorry. I just noticed you had a—" "Chaos emerald?" He looked astonished, "So Sonic told you about those?" You nodded. "What's that in your hand?" He snatched the music box, and fell into some sort of puddle of absolute confusion. "Hello? Shadow? You okay?" You shake him. "Wha— (y-y/n)... That's Maria." He shows you the picture inside the music box. It was of a human girl who looked just like you, but in human form, holding hands with another human, with blonde flowing hair in a pretty blue dress. "Who is Maria?" You now shared Shadow's confusion. He brushed his finger over the name written on it (y/n) Robotnik. "Maria..." he sighed, "She—" Hello, Shadow.

Shadow's P.O.V
M-Maria? It can't be... It's me Shadow. A holographic figure appears from the music box. It was her. Shadow, (y/n), I've missed you so much. "You know (y/n)?" I queried. She's my sister, Shadow.
I noticed (y/n)'s eyes flicker at those words, they looked just like Maria's for a second. "S-sister?" she questioned, as her eyes reverted to (e/c). Yes. "But you're human and she's a hedgehog..." Let me refresh your memories. Sit, you two, it's going to be quite the story to process.

Maria's Story/Flashback
It was around fifty years ago. The three of us were the best of friends.
(y/n), you were human, like me, but I'll get to that soon. It was the day that we were all trying to get back to Earth. Doctor Eggman had an army of robotic soldiers sent after us. Shadow, as you know, there were too many of them and I was killed. I managed to send you and (y/n) to Earth in capsules. (y/n), before I had sealed you in your capsule, one of Eggman's robots shot you with some sort of laser, which I was also shot with, killing me, but not you. I left that chaos emerald with you because I knew that when the time was right, you'd be ready to hear this. (y/n), that laser turned you into a hedgehog. It erased all of your memories of me, as well as of Shadow, and Shadow didn't remember you due to the impact of his landing. I knew the right time was coming because I've been watching you, and I could tell that you were slowly remembering Möbius, and that you looked familiar to Shadow. You two together could have more power than anyone and anything in existence with all of the chaos emeralds, which is why I left you with mine. I trust you two to find them together, and stop Doctor Eggman and whoever else tries to harm this planet in any way. I must be going now. Goodbye Shadow, and (y/n).

Your P.O.V
Maria disappeared. "Wait!" Shadow called out, but she was already gone. Tears started to trickle down your cheeks like waterfalls. Shadow moved closer put an arm around you, "Why are you crying?" "Why me?! Why am I alive?! Why didn't my sister live?!" you had so many questions. "I don't know, (y/n), but what I do know is that Maria wouldn't want you to be upset. She'd want us both to be strong and continue her legacy. We have to protect this planet, as well as each other." Was that a smile? From Shadow? "Ok, I promise I'll protect you and this planet, forever" "Forever." There was a slightly awkward silence... "Wait a second... I'm over FIFTY YEARS OLD!?" Shadow couldn't hold in his laughter.
