A smoky eye is something that is necessary for a woman to know how to apply. From date night to clubbing to Christmas parties a smoky eye is professional and sexy.
How to Apply A Smoky Eye.
For this tutorial, we are going to talk about a basic smoky eye. There are also gold, sparkly and different coloured smoky eyes, but you should learn the basics first.

You need to pick 3 colours,
1. A light creamy colour
2. A medium, basic colour
3. A dark, smoky colour

Which colours to choose depends on your eye colour. However, if you think one combination is prettier and it doesn't match what I recommended, than I say go for it. What matters most is you being confident, but this is just what society deems more flattering.
Blue Eyes.

For blue eyes, you should pick gold and copper eye shadow

Brown/Hazel Eyes

For the most common eye colour, a regular grey and navy smoky eye will go a long way to give a nice yet dramatic look

Anyone of those will work, and its best for blending. Also, I recommend a powder eyeshadow for beginners since it almost blends itself.

You are also going to need some black eyeliner, either pencil or liquid will work. If you don't know how to apply eye liner, I'll have a tutorial about it soon enough.

Have some q-tips on hand because we all make mistakes!

Shopping list:
1. Powdered eyeshadows. (Three similar hues depending on eye colour)
2. Black eyeliner, liquid or pencil.
3. Q-tips and eye makeup remover to fix up mistakes.

Okay, got everything?! (I know, so much prep for eye makeup.)

Step one:
Apply your face makeup, doing the smoky eye last. Make sure that your eyebrows are super stylish, because your smoky eye will draw attention to them. Don't forget the blush/bronzer, and don't be afraid to do a bold lip with your bold eyes, or you can go for a more subtle nude.

Step Two:
Firstly we are going to do the light and creamy colour. Apply it on your entire eyelid, and a bit below the eye.

Step Three:Apply the second eyeshadow, being the medium basic shade

Step Three:
Apply the second eyeshadow, being the medium basic shade. Have this colour cover about 2 thirds of your first shade, and being a bit more upwards. Remember, the main goal is for this to ombré from lightest colour to the darkest colour. Don't apply anything above the natural eyelid crease, or else you might look a little Cruella Da Ville.

Step Four:
Add the last colour like a "C" around the eye next to the medium basic eyeshadow. Remember, the last colour is the dark smoky colour.

Step Five:BLEND IT BABY!Lightly blend all the colours together, not enough to completely smear it but enough to get rid of the lines between the different colours and give it the signature ombré look

Step Six:
Add your eyeliner and mascara,
With a cat eye the most common look, but not necessary. A simple outline of eyeliner will also do wonders to make your smoky eye pop if you are uncomfortable with a cat eye. I'll cover it in the eyeliner tutorial.

Step Seven:Remember those Q-tips I asked for? Dab a little make up remover on the cotton q-tip and fix up any mistakes you may have made

There you go! That's how you apply a smoky eye. It might seem a bit complicated at first, but once you get the hang of it, it'll be like second nature to you.

Go rock the town, girl!

Love always,

Lori.
