Chapter 6 School Days

I wake up, looking around confusedly. I recognize where I am finally, and rub my eyes as my alarm goes off. I literally slam my hand down on the thing, hoping I didn't break it.

I see Ash crawl out from under the bed, and for a second it freaks me out until I realize it's just him. Yeah, right. Just him.

"What was that noise?" He asks, yawning. I get to see his fangs at full extent, and stare for a little too long. "What?" He asks. I shake my head, clenching my eyes shut. "It's nothing. Oh, and that was just the alarm. But, I don't think you have to worry about it anymore."

"Why?" He asks. "Because I think I just broke it..."  I state, blandly. It takes me a second to realize he has a child-like wonder about things. Why this, why that? I mock him to myself in thought.

"Why would you make that alarm go off?" He asks. "I did because I need to get up today. Speaking of that..." I stand from my bed and he moves out of my way. I change into some white skinny means with little rips in them, and a white crop top with wavy ends.

I brush my blonde curls out, and put on some makeup. I apply some mascara and sparkly lip gloss. "Wait, where are you going?!? I want to go too." He says, stopping me as I grip the door handle to my bedroom door.

"Chill, I'm just going downstairs. And no freaking way in Hell are you coming with me. You'd probably just ruin my reputation and yours." I growl, walking out of the room. I walk downstairs and skip breakfast, heading to the living room and turning on the television.

"Wait," he says, sitting beside me, "I thought you were knew to this town." Hr says, narrowing his eyes at me. "Don't give me that look! I can still have a reputation!" He rolls his eyes and crosses his arms over his chest.

My dad is already at work, so I walk to school. "If you dare follow me, so help me, I will find a way to end your immortal life!" I shout, slamming the front door. I grip my white and navy blue striped backpack as I walk down the street and towards the school.

I enter the school and the hallways are buzzing with people. I walk to the office, sign in, and go to the first class on my schedule, Philosophy.

As I sit in what I assume as the most boring class of the day, it hits me; I never told Ash I was new to this town.

The rest of the classes are a bore and soon I get to go home. I guess I couldn't get my creative juices going, so I just blanked out on all the classes. That, and the fact I know a vampire has been stalking me since I got to this town, kinda creeps me out. My stomach growls from missing lunch. I wouldn't risk my life on that mystery meat anyways. I stomp home, exasperated as one question on my mind remains.

I enter the front door, sliding my shoes off and throwing my backpack upstairs. I glare at Ash and he stares at me. "So....how was school?" He asks, sheepishly grinning.

"You followed me! I know you did!" I growl, angrily. "No, I didn't! I stayed here the whole day! Swear!" He yells back, holding his hands up in surrender. "No! Not that! You followed me the first day I got here, and took advantage of my kindness!" I shout over the TV.

"Quiet down, what if your dad hears us?!?"

"Who cares? He's at work anyways!" I plop down on the couch beside him and cross my arms defensively over my chest. That feeling of being watched......that was him! Ugh! I don't know whether to be disgusted or just outraged, but I feel both.

"Look, I can explain, Evie." He whines, his eyes big, blue orbs. "Shut it!" I spat at him as I stomp up the stairs. I miss dinner too and my dad doesn't bother me the rest of the night. I feel like he sensed I had a bad day at school or something, and I wasn't up for talking about it.

Later that night, I feel betrayed. Thinking he was my friend, or even that he liked me, was such a stupid thing to do. How could I have done such an idiotic thing like that. As I lay still as a branch in bed, I hear Ash's voice pipe up over the silence. The silence as thick as fog. So thick, you could cut it with a knife.

"A...are you OK?" He asks. It is the first time I've ever heard him stutter. He always seems so confident and cocky all of the time, so I guess I don't ever expect him to have any other feelings. I don't know, honestly.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I say, bluntly.

I hear something behind me and then I feel his warm breath on my neck. I bite my lip.

"Are you sure?" He asks huskily, in his deep voice. He crawls into bed with me, wrapping his arm around my waist and lowering it to my hips.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I say again, trying to stifle a moan as I feel his soft tongue graze my neck. I shiver, but I feel his warm body pressed against mine. His shirt is all the way unbuttoned and I can feel the warmth emanating from him. I turn my body so I'm facing him.

"I am now, anyways." I whisper as his ears perk up. I give his neck a small kiss as I rest my hand on his abs. I feel a want in my heart and it aches to move my hand lower. No, I can't. I urge myself to keep my mind off of it, so I trace his abs instead.

They are definitely toned, and I smile, biting my lip once more. Six-pack, is what they call it. I put my hand close to his v-line, teasing him. I take his head in my hands, moving his neck into the faint moonlight, so I can see his vampire bite.

Two dots on the side of his neck. I put my fingers over it and he chuckles. I feel his neck vibrate and his Adam's apple bobs. He licks his lips as I scoot closer to him and he holds me in his arms. I drift to sleep as I know I may not survive the next day without him, but, what I do not know, is that this is only the beginning.
