"Of all the things
I have doubted
in my life,
your love
was never one of them."

Poe Dameron slowly woke up. He rolled over from his back to his stomach, annoyed by the sunlight peeking through the blinds. He frowned and grunted when he felt the space next to him empty. Blinking his eyes open, he pushed himself on his elbows and looked around his room. Empty, too. He scrambled out of his bed, walked to the window and clumsily pulled open the blinds. He relaxed when he saw a feminine figure sitting on the edge of the cliff next to the base, wind dancing with her sand coloured hair. With a smile, Poe made his way out of the room.

The sun was barely up. Creamy shades of orange, yellow and pink coloured the sky and the fluffy clouds. A cool breeze blew, ruffling the leaves in the trees of the forests surrounding her which made a calming whooshing sound. Trevkey's fingers played absentmindedly with the damp grass beneath her. With a smile, she closed her eyes, rays of sun beaming her face.

Lost in thoughts, she didn't hear the footsteps next to her, followed to a person joining her, sitting to her left.

"Morning." Poe happily said, his voice still raspy from sleep.

Trevkey blinked and grinned at him.

"Hey, Poe." she said.

He looked down at her, a charming smile on his full lips.

"Did you sleep well?" he asked.

"Oh, yeah. I can't remember the last time I slept that well.", she said, looking back at the horizon. "I'm sorry I got up so early. I wanted to see the sunrise. I meant to come back, after..."

Poe kept his eyes glued on her. They trailed her face, from the small bump on her triangular and maybe slightly too long nose, down to her lips, and he noticed she was wearing his grey hoodie. He loved seeing it on her.

"What are we, Poe?" she suddenly asked.

His brows twitched, but he stayed silent.

"I mean, you and me." she said.

Looking down, she reached and touched Poe's bigger and strong hand, slowly intertwining her small fingers with his.

"What are we?"

He looked back from their hands to her face, and she soon met his gaze too.

But his answer didn't come out as words. Poe raised his left hand, gently grabbed the back of the girl's neck, and pressed his soft lips against hers. She melted into the warm feeling invading her face and her stomach. She deepened the kiss, and he put both of his hands on her face. Trevkey buried one of her hands in his hair, the other touching his left cheek, her thumb trailing softly the small scar he had there.

They pulled back and their foreheads rested together.

Holding her head, scared that she would turn away from him, Poe stared at her, doe eyed, watching as her eyelids slowly fluttered open, her bottom lip swollen and trembling.

"Okay." she said.

He smiled.

"Yeah?"

"Yeah, alright."

She finally locked her blue and green eyes with his again, looking through her upper lashes.

His gaze, so soft, so loving, made her knees weak and her stomach flip. A gentle grin lifted the corner of his lips up.

"I hate you." she chuckled.

"Yeah, me too.", he said, caressing the soft hair on the nape of her neck, and pressing a soft kiss on her forehead.

He pulled back slightly, and looked down. His hands left Trevkey's face and reached under his shirt. He pulled out his chain necklace, slipping it off his head. Trevkey watched his movements attentively.

"My mom gave me this before she died." he said, the silver and black ring twinkling from the sunlight. "It's her wedding ring. She gave it to me before I left to join the rebellion. She told me to keep it until I found the right person."

He looked up again, eyeing Trevkey's confused face tenderly.

"I want to give it to you, Trevkey."

She blinked.

"Poe, I can't-"

"You don't have to promise anything right now. Just, when you're ready," he slipped the chain carefully over her head and she stared at the ring. "tell me. We're in no hurry."

Her eyebrows were pulled together as she looked back up at Poe, feeling his hand stroking her cheek once again.

"When you're ready." he said, flashing her a smile.

She finally smiled back, and he closed his eye as he leaned in again, kissing Trevkey, slowly, tenderly.
