I get out of the taxi, paying the driver, after adding a tip. He was really nice, and we made friendly conversation with each other, he wasn't faking being nice, he was a genuine person. So I snuck a couple hundred in his tip jar.
What? I'm rich, I can do whatever I want with my money, and he deserves it. He had told me about his wife and kids as we were driving so long, and I must admit, that they sounded precious. His daughter's birthday was coming up, so he was working extra so they could go to Disneyland, he and his wife both had multiple jobs, so he was really worn out. I smiled and waved at him as he left, after dropping me off in front of a certain, familiar, beautiful grey, mansion.
I turned to face the house, walking toward it. I hadn't been here in over a year, I missed it. I noticed that the roses hadn't change, still well kept and groomed to perfection, nothing less than what was expected of him.
I knock on the door, taking off my sunglasses once more, anxiously fiddling with them in my hand.
The door opened, and my favorite person, excluding Dr.Roberts and Jonathan, was there, Owen. When he saw me his face morphed into a happy smile, a millimeter one, but a smile none the less. His eyes reflected happiness and joy, his steel eyes changing into silver.
I grinned and jumped up to hug him tightly around his neck, the scent of spring soap hitting my nose. "Ms. Sorenson, it's good to have you back home." He says in his usual calm controlled voice,as he wraps his arms around my waist in a gentle, yet firm hug.
I smile up at him brightly, one, that very few people have seen. " I'm back home! How've you been Owen? You haven't changed a bit, huh.Ms. Sorenson, really? I told you to call me Sang, we made an agreement remember?"
He just smiled in return, stepping out a little to pick up my baggage that I had abandoned. " I can pick it up myself, you know. You don't need to do it out of chivalry,"I pouted.
"Sang, I do it because I want to. Now then, shall I take it to your room?" I just grin, nodding along with his suggestion.
As we walked through the house, I continued to look around. It was exactly how it looked when I made a small trip here last year. It was a small break but I was able to spend some time with Owen, so I won't complain.
Owen opens a door, and walks in. I follow him in, and I gape. He sets the bag down, " I made a few adjustments to your room, I hope you don't mind." His voice is still calm and collected, but I can tell there is underlying anxiety and worry
The room now had a soft pink comforter, grey accents, and white pillows. The room was still painted a dove grey, and had the dark wood floors, but now there was a white rug on the floor. Lights hung from the ceiling in a mystical fashion, and the window seat was decorated fully with soft pillows. A cat plushie sat on the window sill.
I just walk up to him and hug him, " Thank you! It's perfect Owen, I love it! I can't believe you actually did this for me. I can't thank you enough!" I laugh and smile like an idiot, tightly hugging him.
He laughs in relief, and I snuggle into his chest. I rarely hear his laugh, and it makes me feel warm inside. "Well, Sang, after you get settled, do you want to have a cup of coffee or tea with me?"
" Mm, I was thinking we could walk around your lovely garden as well? It's a wonderful day outside, it'd be a shame to waste it."
He smiled and placed a soft peck on my forehead, " Yes, let's. That sounds lovely." He let's go of me, and heads off to the kitchen to make some coffee for us.
I begin to unpack, remembering what I need to do tomorrow. A meeting at the hospital with Dr.Roberts, maybe a stop at the super market, and I have to go into my office to get a few things. I also have a meeting with Jackson tomorrow, then after tomorrow, I'm free for an entire 2 weeks!
I smile at the thought of being on vacation, I have a feeling that this will be an interesting few weeks.
