It was the 36th time Andy Fowler was going to see him. The magician Rael.
He was not a fan, neither would he consider himself a stalker. Rael knew that Andy had gone to many of his shows. Always near the stage but never in the front row.
For the last ten they had spied at each other. Sometimes it was shy eye contact, sometimes an intensified starring. The young man entered the venue and showed his ticket to the woman at the counter.
"Have fun at the show."
Her voice was bored, she had said it to at least 30 people before him.
Andy went through a wide corridor and a smaller one until he reached the big room with the stage. Then, he searched for his seat.
He passed other people who queued for popcorn but the blonde man wanted his full attention to be on the man in the front. The mysterious magician.About half an hour later, everyone had found their seat and it was showtime.
After the MC had left the stage, Rael appeared in all his glory. The audience cheered but the browned haired man did not care much about the mass of people in the audience. As he glanced over the crowd, his eyes searched for one specific man. And there he was. A little smile appeared on his lips as they made eye contact.
He was adorable with his dyed blonde hair falling a little into his face. The magician introduced himself and then started his show. He began with a few little, easy tricks that everyone could do at home and then continued with more difficult ones.
After the half-time pause was over, Rael asked for a volunteer for his next mind reading act. Andy already knew that. As often as he had been there, he knew the whole process of the show. But he had never raised his hand before. Until now.
And the magician chose him. Of course. How could he not? The browned haired wizard had waited so long for this moment and finally, he got the first part of what he wanted. While Andy made his short way up to the stage, Rael thanked him and asked the audience for applause.
"So, volunteer" he said "before we start the trick I need you to tell me your name."
It was all professional, there was no flirty tone in the magicians voice and still it sent shivers down Andy's spine.
"Andy." The blonde boy responded with a firm voice.
"Andy..." Every letter melted on the magician's tongue. "That's short for an old christian name, isn't it?"
Andy nodded. He had never cared much for the origin of his name and that was basically the only thing he knew about it.
"Okay, Andy, so please hold these four crayons and stand to my right."
The volunteer took the crayons and the position Rael had showed him.
Then, the magician explained what he should do and Andy faced him. He listened carefully to the voice that he could hear clearly now that he stood in front of him and no microphone faked the pure sound of it.
His task was quite simple. He had to choose one of the coloured crayons and hide the other three. After that, he would give the chosen one to Rael, who would have his hands crossed - ready for the crayon - behind his back and closed eyes.
Andy followed the plan and chose one of the crayons. Gently he placed the crayon in the magician's hands who had turned around.
As soon as the brown haired felt the crayon in his hand, he asked:
"Are you ready?"
Andy nodded clearly visible to the audience and mumbled quietly:
"I'm ready to do so much more magic with you than this little trick."
He was not able to stop the words from slipping out of his mouth. He had waited for too long.
And there was no sign of regret.
Rael - surprised by these words - smirked after turning around and facing Andy again. But he continued acting as if nothing had happened.
"Please look me in the eyes now and don't break the eye contact during the trick. The mind connection only works like that."Nothing easier than that for the blonde man. For the first time in years, he could analyse the exact eye colour of the man in front of him. It was brown, light brown with a small darker circle around both pupils.
"Have you had your mind read before?" The magician wanted to know.
The addressed shook his head. He had never been to any other magic show than Rael's and he had never dared to participate before, too afraid he might be a little too affected by the magician's presence. The browned haired requested him to think of a scenario with a lot of the crayon's colour in it. Then he took his own right had and lifted it up until it was close to Andy's ear. The left one still held the crayon behind his back.
He deeply looked into the smaller ones eyes. Dominance glanced in his own but the man in front of him hold the eye contact and with it the connection. After a while, Rael seemed to have a solution.
"I think..."
He frowned before he announced his guess
"I think the colour of the crayon that he chose is..." He made a dramatic pause,
"Pink!"
The shout woke Andy from his trance.
After he had shown the pink crayon that had been behind his back to the audience, he turned back to Andy covering his microphone. While the people cheered and applaused he whispered into his ear: „There was a lot more in your head than just this sexy colour, wasn't there, Andrew?"
The sound of his full name let him shiver. The letters had been formed so easily by the magicians tongue and still they had a huge affect on the blonde haired.
Although it had been a rhetorical question, Andy knew the answer too well. There had been more. There was more. In this colour and in so many others. There had been sounds that were so similar and yet so different from the applause in the room.
But the smaller one did not bow down under that question, instead he decided to provoke the questioner, too:
"And in yours?"
The browned haired froze. He had not expected such naughty behaviour by a man who he thought he had under his control by now.
Raels had no answer and still a little taken a back he continued the show as if nothing had happened. He thanked his volunteer and showed him with a wave of his hand that it was time to go back to his seat.
The magic moment was over although the show was not. And for Andy it wasn't the same anymore.About an hour later the show was over and the young man stood up from his seat and went out of the room, on his way to leave the building as he was stopped by a man in a black suit. He was quite tall and his broad shoulders were intimidating.
"Sir, Rael would like to see you. Please follow me."
Without a word of hesitation Andy followed the security guard backstage.
After a walk through several corridors, the man stopped and knocked at a door."He's here."
The deep voice of his body guard and on and off tour best friend chimed through the black door.
"Let him in and take your deserved break. Thank you, David!"
David opened the door and disappeared. Andy carefully took a few steps forward into a room that was small yet comfortable and pretty. Behind a wooden table with a barrel and a red scarf on it, the magician sat on a black couch.
"Welcome to my kingdom, volunteer who doesn't even know my real name!" He said and made a gesture through the room. "Tell me, Andrew Robert Fowler, did anyone ever showed you what happens after the show?"
