The rest of the week passed by quickly and I mentally thanked God as I didn’t have any more encounters with Liam.
He had kept his distance and I had kept mine, the only time we would somewhat communicate being when we would exchange cold glances whilst sat on the dining table during break and lunch.
I puffed out my cheeks as my back was pressed up against the cold brick wall outside of school and tugged at my blue shirt. Friday had rolled by in a hast and in result of this I was now standing in front of the school gates, awaiting for Zayn to show up as we had to walk home today.
After what seemed like hours I finally heard his voice, claiming something which I couldn’t quite hear due to other people screeching and hugging. I rolled my eyes at their childish behaviour and began moving ahead in order to reach Zayn quickly. He was walking along side Harry, his eyes never leaving the other boys as they rambled on about something.
I waved my hands in the air, repeating Zayn’s name at the top of my lungs but no luck was found as his eyes still never met mine. Huffing, I gave up on trying to get his attention this way and instead dodged through the mass of people, trying to get to him.
My foot tripped up on something but someone took ahold of me firmly from behind, and with a snarl he turned around, his brown eyes burning into mine.
“Watch it Malik” Liam sneered.
I snatched my arm from his tight grip and continued to cut through the crowd as I didn’t have time or strength to start a petty argument with him.
“Zayn!”
My protest was finally heard by him and his hazel eyes met mine instantly and I smiled in accomplishment as I reached him before he turned to go into the car park area.
“Hey Lia” he sent a toothy grin my way and I waved back, too out of breath to respond properly.
“Trisha said we have to walk home today because her and Yasir are busy doing something”
He nodded understandingly and turned to Harry.
“Well I’ll see you later then man” he spoke whilst engulfing him into a hug.
“See you” Harrys voice was muffled from the embrace but it was still audible and I smiled at their friendship.
“See you Lia” Harry smiled at me before turning around and stalking off to the car park.
“Come on” Zayn looked at me with warm eyes and I nodded, facing the other way and trailing off after him.
“So how was your day then?” he bumped his shoulder with mine lightly and I laughed at his action before responding.
“It was alright I guess, how about you?”
“Nothing special” he shrugged, his hands stuffed in his jean pockets casually.
I nodded at his answer as a comfortable silence draped around us. It was relaxing and just what I needed.
“Wait up won’t you?” An all too familiar voice called from behind making us both stop in our tracks and turn around to find Liam taking long strides towards us, Zayns face lighting up at the sight of friend whereas mine fell, my eyes turning a shade darker.
“Liam!” Zayn exclaimed, bringing the other boy into a hug.
“I haven’t seen you all day” he continued his sentence as he let go of Liam and began walking again, leaving me to trail after them.
“I know I had some stuff to take care off” Liam said, pride dripping from his voice with every word he spoke.
Zayn shook his head and lightly smacked the back of the other boys head.
