I walk into a Cafe I was familiar with but I don't actually remember. The glossy, red tiles gives me nostalgia as I start to remember. This was the Cafe me and my Mum went to. I can imagine us drinking at the corner table, sipping our drinks and laughing together. Sometimes I just wish to go back in time... but it's 2038 now. My Dad is dead and my Mum is sleeping. It's like she's sleeping forever and not wanting to talk to me... but I have to move on. The orange colour of the sunset shone through the tinted windows.
"Hey Em!" I see someone running up to me. It was a girl who I didn't recall knowing. She wore a teal scarf and a brown coat. Her hair was chocolate brown and her smile was very amusing. WAIT! It was Laken. What is with my head lately!? I have been having very bad migraines. Laken was a friend of mine who works here.
"How can I help you?" she says. I wanted to talk to her to see how she was.
"Can we sit down?"
"Sure!" she says. I point to the corner table as we walk there.
"I haven't seen you in like... 10 months!" she says.
"Yeah... Just trying to get over some stuff..."
"Oh... OK!" she smiles. It always makes me smile too.
"How's life?"
"I've just been working but that's it. I also tried reading online just so I can do something in my spare time." she says.
"Oh... That's alright. All I've been doing is tr... Are you okay?" Laken had been focusing on something else which was behind me. I turn around as there is activity happening outside the window. A man was running around the corner as we start to hear a gun being shot. Everyone in the Cafe ran and ducked under the tables. I decide to peek up and look at what was happening. A tank had been pulled up right outside the building in front of us as there were mysterious looking people standing on top of it. They were wearing masks with a red line going through it. I could hear people starting to panic and cry for help. Laken stared at me as I knew she was terrified.
"Be careful..." she said. I look back as I here a screeching sound coming nearby. A car turned around the corner as the mysterious people started to aim and shoot at it. Everyone was scared now. The shooting started to echo in my ears. My vision started to get blurry so I decided to look up one more time to make sure we were safe. The screeching got louder as the car lost control. It drifted towards the Cafe and directly to us. I quickly got down as I hold onto Laken and brace for the impact. We shut our eyes as tears started to come out. The last thing I heard from Laken was...
"Why me..."
