Chapter 5

Waking up in the morning I was still laying on the cot with the blanket rapped tightly around me. Monty came in to check on Jasper giving us the news that someone found Wells dead. A knife wound to the neck and missing a couple of fingers. The news seemed to make everyone sad, I felt bad for the fact that he was dead but I honestly did not know him and never talked to him.

Clarke came up to where we were and asked Monty if he needed another wrist band. Monty took it off as gently as he could. It was interesting to see him work.

"Yes I did it. It's still operational." Monty said taking off the wrist band.

Clarke nodded her head with a smile at him as she rubbed her wrist. She stood as Monty turned back to the wall working with the wires he had out. Clarke walked out with Finn talking to each other about punishing Clarke's mother. Most of the conversations they had still confused me.

"Not if I can't patch threw to the dropship mainframe." Monty muttered looking at the wires before turning to look at them again with a confident, "I can do it."

"We'll be talking to the Ark by nightfall."

With that Clarke and Finn turned to walk away. I continued to watch as Monty worked asking him questions about what he was doing. I realized I had no idea about anything he was doing. I decided to give him some space as to not distract him. So far my only friends here were Monty and Octavia. I walked to the ramp leading out of the dropship stopping by the curtain to look at the camp.

As I walked out I saw my brother unzip his pants and begin to pee on a man who was down on his knees. As the man stood up I made my way over shoving Murphy back. The surprise of what happened caused him to stumble unsteady.

"What is your problem?" I asked Murphy as I turned to look the other boy over.

Murphy seemed to be taken by surprise by this and turned to the rest of the camp and shouted, "Get back to work!"

"Are you alright?" I asked the guy behind me. He nodded as he looked at me and walked away to finish his work. I rolled my eyes and walked back to the ramp. I decided I did not like being out in this camp. I knew I could take down anyone who tried to mess with me here but I did not feel as though I belonged here.

Octavia walked up to me with a smile from somewhere in the camp, "Wanna go for a walk?"

She did not wait for a reply as she grabbed my hand pulling me up to the top level of the dropship. She then grabbed Jasper and began to pull him a long as well. We walked to the edge of the camp where the wall is. I stayed behind Jasper, did they realize I could run when ever?

"Just a few steps, okay?" Octavia said as Jasper stood firm behind the gate. She grabbed his hand and pulled him out a step, "One foot in front of the other."

She took a few more steps away as I stood next to Jasper waiting for anything that could possibly happen. My mind immediately thought to Lincoln, could he be watching?

"Hey, what's wrong?" Octavia asked bringing me from my thoughts.

"Hmm? Oh, Nothing. I'm good." Jasper said as he looked around the woods in front of him.

"Don't worry Jasper, anyone out here I can take." I said with a smile as I nudged his arm lightly.

As Octavia began to walk away talking someone from the bushes grabbed her pulling her in with a scream.

"Octavia!" Jasper shouted.

With that I ran to the bush and tackled whoever it was, "Chon yu bilaik? Chil yo daun!"

With that the man let go of Octavia and jumped back suddenly fearing for his life. Octavia stumbled away and to a scared Jasper. The man held up his hands in surrender before running back to the safety of the camp.

"Jerk!" Octavia yelled as he ran, "There's nothing to be afraid of." She said to Jasper.

Jasper tripped over a root landing on his stomach as Octavia and I crouched beside him. We began to help him up as Jasper's face went from scared to terrified. With that we followed his gaze to see a bloody blade right next to two fingers, Well's fingers. I pulled out a cloth from my pouch and picked up both fingers as I examined the blade.

The blade was a foreign metal that I recognized instantly as metal from the dropship. No grounder did this, especially not one from Trikru. Our weapons were made with stronger metal. The blade was short about three to four inches long. The blade it's self is not what stood out to me but the initials carved into it, "J.M". I just hope John Murphy is not the only one in camp with the initials J.M.

I turn to Octavia and Jasper, they already seem to be standing ready to go talk to Bellamy and Clarke about what we've found. We make our way to the biggest tent in the camp that I recognize to be Bellamy's. Bellamy seems to be a king to all ninety nine of the criminals in the camp. I stay with Jasper as Octavia leaves and returns with both Bellamy and Clarke hot on her heels. I lay the fingers in the cloth down and reluctantly place the knife down as well. I really hope it was not my brother who did this.

Clarke picks up the knife stating what I already knew, "This knife was made of metal from the dropship."

"What do you mean?" Jasper asked with a quiet voice.

"Who else knows about this?" Bellamy asked looking to the three of us.

"No one." Octavia says moving her eyes from the table to his, "We brought it straight here."

"Clarke?" Jasper asked again still wanting an answer from her.

"It means the grounders did not kill Wells." I responded for her.

"It was one of us." Clarke adds looking more than upset.

Wells was her friend and I can tell she just wanted to have someone to blame for the death of her friend. Pinning the death on the grounders, my people, gave them someone to hate more. Now that she realizes that it was one of her people her face becomes one of pure sadness.

"So there is a murderer in camp?" Jasper asks.

"There's more than one murderer in this camp. This isn't news. We need to keep it quiet." Bellamy says looking at everyone in the tent.

Clarke took a look at the knife once more her face turning from the one of sadness to a look of rage. She went to go for the exit as Bellamy and I side stepped to block her. Bellamy because he wanted this to stay quiet me because I wanted to protect my brother. Even if he was the one who did it I would protect him. Clarke stared at Bellamy not even glancing my way. I took this opportunity to look around Bellamy's tent and the first thing I laid my eyes on was my weapons laying in the corner. The chance I got I would take them all back.

"Get out of my way Bellamy," she turned to look at me this time, "Eretria."

"Be smart about this. Look at what we've achieved; the wall, the patrols. Like it or not, thinking the grounders killed Wells is good for us." Bellamy said, he was a good leader most of the time, I could see why his people followed behind him.

"Oh good for you, you mean. What keep people afraid and they'll work for you? Is that it?" She demanded.

"Yeah that is it." Bellamy deadpanned.
