Have you ever seen the ocean turn black?
Not because of a stormy night or a bad fight,
But because darkness has overtaken what you once knew.
Have you ever seen the ocean turn black?
How skies cry and waves thrash, wishing they could figure out why
When you're sunk deep within the depths of the sand.
Have you ever seen the ocean turn black?
Where part of you wants to stay engulfed
Because you're never going to feel like this again.
Have you ever seen the ocean turn black?
Where the waters surround you, and you can't climb out
You're trapped, yet you can't breathe because of the thought of never again.
Have you ever seen the ocean turn black?
Where you've mourned the blue patterns,
The ones you knew like your own handwriting
Have you ever seen the ocean turn black?
Screaming underwater where no one can hear you,
The once peaceful waves that once saved you are now your reason for dying.
Have you ever seen the ocean turn black?
I've heard stories about the beauty captivating you until you can't escape
I never thought that something I knew would change before me.
Have you ever seen the ocean turn black?
Shells cut my feet in desperate attempt to not drown
Even if I escape, I'm still dripping
Have you ever seen the ocean turn black?
No one notices the water you're covered in is tainted with darkness
Unless you've seen the ocean turn black, you only see blue.
Have you ever seen the ocean turn black?
Where it stains your skin for a constant reminder of what you saw
No one believes the ocean can turn so dark.
Why is no one else wondering why the ocean turned black?
Why am I the only one that sees it?
