I cocked my head to look at the alarm clock and screamed.
"6:55! WHAT THE FUCK!?"
"LANGUAGE!" I heard Mom yell from the kitchen. After a lot of screaming, tripping and making a mess, I finally got to school.
"Hello, Pidge. Tardy again?" The teacher said. Her name was Ms Altea but liked to be called Allura. She was pretty nice but could be a total badass. One time she forgot she was a teacher and started cheering for a fight. Luckily, she wasn't fired.
"Yeah." She mumbled, looking down at the floor. She smiled kindly at me.
"That's alright, but I'm going to have to let you off with a warning. At least you aren't too late for us to greet the new student!" I raised an eyebrow in confusion. I hadn't been told about this. I walked up to my seat in the front row, eager to meet the newbie.
"Everyone, please give a warm welcome to Lance Mclain!" I was shocked. It was the same boy at the pet store yesterday. He looked like hadn't had much time to get organised this morning, though. His hair was all poofy, due to lack of brushing. His shirt was untucked and his tie was loose. He smiled warmly, earning swoons from some of the girls.
"H-hi," He said, somewhat flustered.
"Tell us a little about yourself, Lance," Allura said.
"Well, I'm from Cuba. I originally s-spoke Spanish but learnt English when I was t-twelve." He seemed to be stumbling over his words like he was having trouble translating them in his head. He certainly wasn't as carefree as he was in the pet shop. I noticed his eyes darting back and forth from the floor to one of the kids in the front row, Lotor. I also noticed the huge smirk on Lotor's face. They must've known each other. Allura patted his shoulder.
"Thanks for sharing, Lance. You may be seated now." And, to my inconvenience, the only seat available was next to me. The nerd who was reduced to a blushing mess by his adorable face and ocean blue eyes. His eyes widened when he realized he saw me and waved at me. I was too flustered to say hi and just looked back down at my textbook, earning a confused frown.
"So, please flip to page 65." (Of your 600$ textbooks. Ok- great now you don't need 'em anymore!)After class (omg I'm so immature. My keyboard didn't work so when I spelt class it only came out as ass and I just burst out laughing in the grocery store.) I went to go see Hunk at our usual lunch table.
"Hey, Pidge!" He smiled, waving me over. I let out an exasperated sigh as I sat down on the bench. "You alright?"
"Did you hear about that new kid?"
"Lance Mclain?" She nodded. "Yeah, he's a friend of mine. We work together, and I helped teach him English."
"You mean at the pet store? I didn't know you worked there!" He smiled.
"I just manage the payroll, so I'm a little behind the scenes." He chuckled.
"Oh, right." Suddenly, Hunk averted his gaze behind me and waved. I turned around to see Lance, sitting alone at a small bench, feeding the pigeons with the breadcrumbs of his sandwich. Hunk ushered him over, and the boys face lit up, walking sheepishly towards us.
"Hi..... Again."
