3rd person POV change
The three stood in silence for a moment before turning to look at eachother then turning to the ravine to begin their walk. The area around the ravine was sparse of foliage and green mostly consisting of tan rocks and boulders with a course pathway leading deeper into the fissure made from other travelers and creatures traversing the cliff side.
"This should be it" Drake pointed out as the three friends reached the small passage leading to their quarry. The three hesitated to enter the home of the so called feral creature with no plan or nothing to defend themselves with besides a small survival knife.
"We need a plan, a really good plan" Mychael spoke up after a moment of tense silence and put on a serious expression.
"Any ideas?" Mychael looked to his friends for ideas and turned to Jeremiah when it looked like he was gonna say something.
"We could just have one of us run in and out before whatever's in there notices" When he proposed his idea the other two just nodded thinking it was their best bet at the moment then started glancing at each other waiting to see who will go in.
"Out of the three of us, Mychael you're the fastest so you should go" Drake pointed out while turning towards his darker friend along with Jeremiah.
"Ugh, you guys so owe me for this" Mychael didn't even try to fight it as he knew his own strengths and one of them was his speed and ability to get through obstacles. Mychael started his way down the path with a moment of trepidation before taking a deep breath and heading inside the ravine

Mychael's POV:
It was getting pretty dark as the path gradually led me deep into the ground with only a sliver of light making it through the cracks above. The pathway wasn't cramped at all actually, it had enough room for me to wander around freely with no discomfort that's saying something from someone who's 5'10. After continuous walking the light seemed to disappear altogether when I arrived at a large open space full of just darkness as far as I could tell, my eyes were still adjusting to the sudden darkness when I heard it.
"Hrrugh" It was like the sound of breathing but if you were gurgling a bunch of gravel simultaneously, the sound made me stop in my tracks and stay silent. After just standing there for a bit letting my eyes adjust I could see a subtle glowing in the center of the room sitting on top of a small pile of rocks. I looked around the room to see if I could find the source of the breathing only to be met with an ordinary cave with nothing inside except for a bit of dust and the air i'm breathing. I slowly started to sneak to the middle of the room out of sheer paranoia that something will jump out and attack me and it wasn't before long I reached the middle of the room with the light blue glowing orb sitting on the pile.
Now i've played enough video games to know that this is clearly a trap and the moment I touch the core the monster will show up or the cave with start to collapse, so I need to play this smart. I'm glad I saw india*a J*nes when I was younger so I knew something the could work, I turned away from the pile to pick up one of the loose rocks on the ground and see if it was a similar size at the core and after a bit of searching I found one that was pretty similar. I brought the two objects next to each other then with a swift movement grabbed the core and replaced it with the rock then waited for something to happen...
"Phew" I let go of a breath I didn't know I was holding when only silence responded to my action then looked down at the core in my hand, despite the cold blue color it was quite warm like a stone left out on a warm day which I guess made sense considering what it belongs to. I was about to turn back out of the cave when something I had a strange thought pricking me in the back of my mind.
"If it's silent then where did the breathing go" The thought made me freeze for a second before whipping around to my back to see...
________________________________________________________________________When Mychael turned around he was greeted to what seemed to be a giant spider made out of stalagmites and shards of rocks looming over him not making a sound.
"Uh hi?" at Mychael's weak attempt at a greeting the stone arachnid opened its mouth and roared at him with the sound and force of an earthquake. Blown back slightly and covered in a bit more dust Mychael responded
"And bye" then Mychael dived and rolled under the spiders legs as it lunged at him and into the pile of rocks the core used to rest on shattering the rocks on impact. Mychael got up from the roll and bolted to the entrance of the cavern with the core in hand and the spider golem slowly gaining on him. Mychael had just reached the passage to the cave when the spider made another lunge at him making him have to dive out of the way again and into the wall of the cavern leaving a jagged cut on his cheek bone and disorienting him for a bit. Mychael wasn't the only one affected by the missed lunge, the spider broke a few of its stone legs and a bit of its main body was slowly reforming them. Mychael chose this moment to look at the abomination of stone and look at the damaged main body, he was about to stand and continue running away but something caught his eye. Inside the body was another core like the one he was holding but its color was a sickly looking green with multiple cracks running through it beating like a heart for the beast, when the beast had finished reforming he got an idea.
"He rock for brains!" The beast seemed to perk up at the yell but otherwise made no motions to stop him
"You couldn't hit the broad side of a mountain!" Mychael yelled that then turned to run again while a freshly agitated golem was very close behind him and when it crouched to lunge at Mychael again he stopped and rolled back under its legs while it flew into the wall and braking some of its outer shell off again.
"Now!" When the cracked core was exposed Mychael Whipped out the survival knife and ran and stabbed it into one of the cores many cracks braking it in half. The rocks grew still and the two halves of the core fell out of what was left of the beast while losing their sickly glow and becoming more of a soft grey light shining through both halves. The pile of rock didn't move and stayed inert one again without the core keeping it animated.
"Thank you d*rk s*uls" Mychael smiled while picking up the two halves and putting them in his jacket pocket along with the core which is still glowing a soft blue and setting off up the pathway back to his friends with a small spring in his step.
At the beginning of the pathway were Drake and Jeremiah anxiously waiting for the return of their friend unharmed from his trek down the path.
"Maybe we should go down after him?" Drake offered while edging his way closer to the cave for a moment before withdrawing at the sound of a voice.
"No need for that guy, the conquering hero returns" Mychael walked up the path to his friends and with a small flourish he pulled out the core and presented it to his friends who seemed to look at it for a few seconds before nodding and letting out a sigh of relief now that their friend was out of danger.
"Let's just get back to the cave" Jeremiah turned around first closely followed by Drake and Mychael who started talking to each other.
"Hey, did you find anything else down there?" Drake posed the question first and to respond Mychael pulled out the two halves of the broken softly glowing core and showed it to drake.
"I got this off of the feral monster that was guarding the core" At him answering the question with that, Drake did a double take at that and asked.
"How!" at this point Jeremiah was listening also for the answer to which Mychael just grinned and said
"Da*k so*ls" and kept walking while the other two just paused for a moment to think about it until they caught a glimpse of the back of Mychael's jacket which was covered with dust then they understood and kept walking.
