easter eggs + facts

hey everybody! it's me abby here!

after an incredible journey with everyone, this book has finally come to an end. although i'm disappointed and a little sad, but im quite happy with how it has progressed and surprisingly, i'm quite proud.

so here's some fun facts about this book:

1. if you remember from the author's notes, i had said that there won't be any triggering stuff etc.

the reason for doing so is because i want to try out writing a book without having to add those elements into play in order for the book to progress. plus, there are many phanfictions out there that contains these, and some people might need a break from those. another point is that i don't want to fantasize/glorify it any further.

although, i apologise for chapter 25. it does have some suicidal elements in there.

2. chris

i made chris into a character that is observant and detailed, and this can be seen in chapters 8 and 24, 8 being in the situation where he notices how dan has a crush on our philly, and 24 being worried about dan.

3. chapter 24
in chapter 24, i did mention that dan was acting weird. those are actually what people call the 'warning signs' of someone, which led to the scene of chapter 25, with dan attempting suicide yet failing.

different people have different warning signs, and we might never know. i've dropped a hint through chris listing out these things, and only some of you got it (and even typed a paragraph in the comment. i didn't reply to it, because you're correct. good job to you).

4. hints on chapter 25
i've dropped some hints on the fire in chapter 25, and one of them is the author's note at chapter 21, in which there is one line that said 'anyway, these few chapters are going to be lit'

lit = fire

i wasn't sure when it was going to happen, thus the 'few chapters'

i've also replied to some comments with hints on it, so don't say i didn't warn you

5. phil's behavior after chapter 17.
chapter 17 was a heartbreaking (and string breaking) scene, and of course phil would be an asshole to dan. in this universe, the string is like a part of their body, like your hair etc. to get it forcefully taken away from him was painful, which is the reason why phil hated dan.

another reason why phil hated dan was because phil knows that he had fucked up. in chapter 17, phil had kissed dan back, and dan did too. it was a two way thing, which is another reason why the string broke, because he doesn't exactly like his soulmate anymore. but he was in denial, thus the hating. he believed that if he didn't like dan, he would have his string back

6. phil's soulmate
actually, i never planned for phil to meet his so called 'soulmate' lol, so when my friend (she reads this book too, hi if you see this) asked me how they looked like, i just shrugged

7. cat's appearance
honestly, i've seen so many authors put cat as a bitch in their book, and i'm tired of seeing it again and again. although i don't watch her videos, i don't think the phandom should hate on her, which is why i put her as a nice person who works in the bakery

8. ash's appearance
actually, ash is one of my friends irl, and also the co-planner of this book. i go to her when i need help to progress the book, and we share ideas with each other. she was the one that gave me the idea of dan being in coma, and her (plus another friend) gave me the idea of dnp going to paris.

also she suggested the pigeon feeding session, as well as the part where dan had to borrow clothes from phil. plus i didn't know you could go up the eiffel tower until she told me.

most of the fluff came from her, while the angst came from me.

9. dan's 'death'
he never actually died. in chapter 30, the doctors revived him, but phil had ran away already, thus you guys never saw the part where dan's heartbeat went back to normal because killing your hearts feels awesome.

10. the ending
the epilogue wasn't the actual ending that i had planned it to be. my sister planned parts of the ending, and her idea was awesome so i used it. the original ending was for them to meet on the internet (anonymously), and dan decide to meet phil irl in the train station, where they hug and the string forms again.

basically 2009 dnp all over again just to fuck with your feelings.

11. the entire storyline
i never plan books, so you probably know how this will go. the first few chapters kind of show how nothing was planned, just random stuff. the plot twists (road trip, string breaking, fire) was thought during random times, like when i'm bored in class, or when i shower.

12. updates
if you were to follow me from the start, you would know that my updates are NOT consistent, and it varies whenever i feel like updating. however, as this book blew up, i was like 'holy shit i have to update frequently or else they're going to be disappointed' so i swore to a least type in a few words whenever i have time. another fact that helped was the fact that i had an idea on what's going to happen. last thing the motivated me the most: your support

13. research
i did some research when writing this book, simply because i wanted this to be realistic. i researched on the part where phil was questioned by the police, as well as half of chapter 24. im sure i researched more but i kind of forgot lmao

14. references
pretty sure you guys caught most of the references, so i'm not going to list them here

(updated) 15. chapter 13
the part where the lady was offended by dnp's action. she was offended by the fact that phil had a soulmate and yet betrayed them, not the fact that he preferred the male gender. having a string and yet being with someone else is seen as cheating on your soulmate basically, so don't worry, she ain't homophobic, but that still doesn't mean we're gonna dislike her less :)

overall, i did not expect how fast this book would grow. i mean, my writing was never as good as the rest of the writers, and to be at the top of the rankings was like a dream come true to me. i never would've expected the support and love, and it gave me so much happiness when you vote or comment.

for the last time, thank you guys so much for the support and thank you for sticking with me throughout the entire story. this journey meant so much to me and i hope that it had meant as much to you.

special thanks to my co-planner, ash, as well as my sister, who even though is a little shit, still supported me. thank you to everybody that voted and commented, and even if you didn't you still decided to drop by, and i'm grateful for that.
