Garnier arrived at Kile's at 18:03 and walked in. Riley was sitting in the front room next to Marceline. "Sup?" Marceline nodded at Garnier and pointed at the second couch. Garnier sat down obligingly on the soft purple cushions. He tugged gentle on his small amulet and rubbed the arm of the couch.
Riley sparked the conversation. "So how you doing on the college front? Do you know where you're going?"
"Nope." Garnier responded light-heartedly. Marceline chimed in "I'm not gonna go. My mom says she'll get me a job straight away." Riley scoffed. "geez, you should go to college, Marcy." Riley checked her phone. "Do you know what Toko's planning on doing?"
"Art stuff probably." Marceline said with a hint of boredom. "Garnier, wanna 1v1 me in something? I'll go for any fighting game." Garnier replied enthusiastically . "Yeah, of course! Can we do a 2v2 as well? You can play with Kile."
Garnier quickly became flustered. "I didn't mean that because you and he and-"
"Sounds cool." Marceline scrolled through her phone. "Erin's not coming."
"Yeah I saw." Riley said without care. Garnier appreciated this. He thought Erin was a only a smidge heavily unstable and he may just ruin the entire night. "Shame." He lied.
Kile emerged from the kitchen and sat next Garnier. "Brusse's bringing her boyfriend. Don't worry he's alright." Kile was casually running his fingers through his spiked black hair and looking impressive during it. Garnier glanced at his yellow eyes and sensed hate from them. He knew what Kile had seen and was irritated by the fact. Garnier was certain Kile hated him and Toko but wasn't going to say anything yet.
A few minutes later, Dyre walked in followed by Romulus. Dyre had a sullen face and Romulus was faking a smile. Dyre slumped in an armchair and Romulus stood. Both of them were quiet and the awkward silence was painful. Riley decided to be the one to break the silence again. "Are Gina and Sam coming?"
Dyre laughed in response. Romulus looked daggers at him. His eyes were reddened in the light and Dyre glanced back nonchalantly and winked at him. Romulus smacked him around the back of the head and stormed into the other room. Dyre half laughed, half recoiled and pulled out his phone. Kile looked around the room and spoke. "Are we gonna mention his hair?" Romulus had dyed part of his hair pink and it stuck out in a way that seemed like an attention grab. Marceline shrugged as Riley adjusted her glasses before speaking. "Well, it's not that different. It's nice, I guess." Riley pulled at her collar and tried to address a different subject. "Dyre, how're you?"
"Shitty as always." Dyre answered with spite.
Garnier was hoping for something to end the awfulness. Brusse walked into the house holding hands with her boyfriend. She was gently tanned and he was unimpressive next her. Kile flicked a wave at her and she spoke jubilantly. "Heyo! How're you all doing? I brought Caddy over." Caddy waved and remained silent. Kile sized him up with a look and judged he was punching above his weight. "We're doing great. Glad you could come." Kile gave her a thumbs up, offered her a seat and turned on the TV. Finally Toko made his entrance, slightly winded, and collapsed into the seat next to Garnier. "Hey guys, I'm pooped, I missed the bus, so I ran." Toko stuck his tongue out to reinforce his point. Garnier muttered nervously "Hoi." Toko simpered sweetly, laying his head on Garnier's bony shoulder. Brusse let Caddy sit in her lap and he kissed her on the nose. The display of affection made Dyre's face fill with disgust as he looked away and focused on his phone. Garnier adored the feeling. Toko was resting on him but he felt a deeper meaningful undertone. It was as if the weight was his love and this contact was him relying and needing him. His touch represented motivation to be with him and his burning flesh showed that he-. Garnier need to pee.
Garnier got up and made his excuses. Kile sat down next to the shocked Toko and handed a video game controller to Marceline. "Bring it." He challenged her. "1v1, fox only, no items, final destinat-" Riley grabbed the controller and poked the buttons. "I'ma be Kirby."
Kile ermed. Everyone else laughed.
Toko: Kile stole your seat 😣
Garnier: 😥
A couple of hours passed as the players rotated and the night got underway. Dyre had winked at all the guys in the room, making Toko uncomfortable but the night progressed nevertheless.
Kile's younger brother Foal came downstairs and also received a wink that he ignored. He scanned the room and leant next to Brusse as he chatted with her. Eventually his attention was drawn to Toko, who he saw something off with. "Hey you have a hickey." Toko was confused. "A love bite?" Toko crapped himself. How had he noticed it and why was he the first to mention it? Toko spluttered out a bad explanation. "Um, er, it's just a bruise- I walked into a plank!" Foal smirked and nodded as he saw straight through the lie. "Sure..."
Foal left the room as Toko rubbed his neck to hide his mark. He wanted to leave the room so he offered to grab everyone a drink. Marceline threw her beer can and ask for another and Toko reprimanded her. "Dad'll be pissy"
"I'm sleeping round mom's anyway so screw it."
Toko was concerned but he didn't let that show. He went into the kitchen and rummaged through the cupboards. Garnier came in after. "Hey, just thought I'd help." Garnier was already a little pink. Toko thanked him. "Um, are the beers in the fridge? Wait how many are here again? Kile, Marcy, Riley, Rom, Dyre..." Toko stopped talking because Garnier was giggling. "What's so funny?" Garnier blushed more. "Do you think, it might be fun. If we made out. Here. In the kitchen. Toko?" Toko's eyes widened and his face went red. He liked the idea but it wasn't the time. Was this normal? He wanted to but it didn't seem conventional but he wanted it anyway. Toko put his arms over his shoulders and pressed his nose against Garnier's. "Go on then."
Garnier kissed first. It was soft. Toko lightly pressed his lips on Garnier's. Slowly his tongue slipped in. Gradually they became closer and wrapped around each other. The entire embrace was mild but it felt a million times more tender than any other kiss they'd ever had. It was a subjective pleasure and relied on the warmth of the moment yet Toko was happy. He was content with the love that he was receiving from a simple kiss. It wasn't an aggressive act where they fought to choke one another with their tongues. It was just a romantic kiss.
They released one another and turned to face Foal. "Nice to meet you Plank?"
"I'll be heading off now." Garnier answered, covering his mouth in embarrassment as he passed Foal.
