Lucy's POV:

"The next stop is Taun Village. We will be at the station in 2 minutes." Oh, that's the town the forest borders! I grin and crack my back. I've been sitting in the train for the entire day. I really hate sitting still. The train grinds to a halt. I pick myself up and walk down the train aisle, occasionally stopping for people.

I step off the train and onto the dried dirt of the Taun Village's "platform", which is just a ramshackle shed of metal and dirt. I head towards the forest, stopping before the entrance. Am I ready for this? Heck, I'm still bruised from spells, have mental trauma from leaving my very fake family, and jumped out of a friggin' window. I take a look around at the afternoon sky, wondering what it would look like under a canopy of trees. I breathe in fresh air, turn back around, and enter the gargantuan forest.

    *timeskip 3 or 4 hours*

I push various twigs and branches out of my way as I travel through the forest. The trail I'm following looks pretty new, and I'm thinking it might lead to a village. The only thing throwing me off is that I might have gone the wrong way. The footprints led north, but they came from the south, therefore the village. Ugh, I'm so dumb. But, I'll just follow them to where they lead. Plus, they could've just gone to a picnic spot, anyways.

I crawl through a maze of stumps, downed trees, and logs, tearing up my jeans. I've snagged a flyaway twig or branch on my pockets a few times. I sit down on a clean stump and take off my flip-flops. God, it feels so long ago when I got dressed. This outfit is probably, I don't know, three days old? Wow. I must stink.

I stay there for a while, thinking, then put my flip-flops back on, which are now caked with mud, as with my feet, and stand up. As I'm thinking about why I wore flip-flops, I realize the sun is setting. Crap. I need to find someplace to sleep. I start to speed up, anxious to find a place to stay.

I stop running to catch my breath, and realize the footprints I've been following disappeared. I backtrack to find the prints again. Once I do, I realize they make a little beaten path into the underbrush. I follow the prints, once again, and after five-ish minutes, come across a glade, looking incredibly stunning. Picturesque trees, a little pond with a waterfall, and a cave behind it, covered with little to giant crystals. On the other side of me is a little grassy area with flowers and berry bushes.

I go to the cave, obviously, because it's sheltered. The water from the pond still flows in, ending in a little cove in the pool. It's very dark, and the only light is from the seemingly bioluminescent crystals. The soft light barely covers anything, but I take a step further, around a bend in the cave wall. And that's where I find the most curious little thing... A girl.

She's incredibly short. The girl, I mean. She looks really young, maybe ten years of age? Her hair is the weirdest thing about her. It's dominantly purple, with swirls of light and navy blue and black, with pink and silver blended in here and there. It looks like the night sky in summer, kinda. From what I can tell, she's covered in mud, like me. I nudge her. She's damp. So is her hair.  She probably fell into the pond. She's wearing red lace-up tennis shoes (like Converse), with black pants, made out of an incredibly shiny material, and a gray T-shirt. Her back is to me, so I can't see the front of it. I'm scared to touch her again. I don't think she's dead, but there's always the possibility. My opinion? She's asleep. I'll bet on you that.

I slowly turn her over, and I see what her shirt says. "Death to Cancer." Okay, that's highly offensive. I don't think she even knows who Cancer is. Perverted as he may be, he's a great celestial spirit. Sniffing away a few tears, I look her over, trying to ignore the offensive caption on her shirt. Her face is reminiscent of a baby, but less chubby. I snort, I can't help it. Baby face.

Her face twitches. I move back, almost loosing my sight of her. I move back forward, and I come face-to-face with the baby face girl. My eyes widen in surprise and I scooch back. She rubs her eyes harshly. Re-opening her eyes she studies me. She doesn't seem to find me scary, at least with the little body language I know. Then she says something. "What?" I reply, my answer to not hearing her. She huffs, in an annoyed manner, sighs, and fixes her eyes back on me. Then I hear her. "My name is May. May Fortuna. Who the bloody hell are you?"

She has a weird accent. =.=

Heyo! Hopefully this chapter is better than my last one! XD
