"Alastor Moody."
You listen, rather intently to the intimidating new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Moody. He writes his name sloppily on the blackboard, and your hybrid hearing cause you to wince as the emphasised sound hits your ear canal. Harry sits at you right on the two person desk, and Draco sits next to a random student in the desk to your left. On Harrys right are Hermione and Ron, sitting stiff as to not provoke Alastor.
"Ministry malcontent. And your new defence against the dark arts teacher. I'm here because Dumbledore asked me, end of
story, goodbye, the end. Any questions?" No one says anything as the light from the three windows reflects off of Mad Eyes shifting black eye. "When it comes to the dark arts, I believe in a practical approach. But first, which of you can tell me how many unforgivable curses there are?""Three, sir." Hermione says, her insatiable need to answer questions coming to attention. Moody looks at her, nodding quickly as her glares at practically everyone in the room, walking with heavy footsteps.
"And they are so named?" He asks the curly haired girl as he walks back towards his black board.
"Because they are unforgivable." Granger answers in a hesitant voice as she glances your way. You give her a comforting smile as she continues. "Use of any of them will-"
"Earn you a one way ticket to Azkaban!" Moody says as he viciously writes the words. You roll your shoulders, trying to calm your nerves.
"Hey!" You turn your head at the whipsered yell, seeing Draco turned to you. He smiles at you, running a hand through his short, platinum hair. "Calm down, hes just a teacher."
You beam at your boyfriend, sighing in relief. If he's there for you, you know you'll always be alright. Moody shouts once more, his gruff voice ringing out in the gray classroom.
"Now the ministry says you're
too young to see what these curses do. I say different! You need to know what you're up against, you need to be prepared,
you need to find somewhere else to put your chewing gum other than the underside of your desk Mr Finnigan!"Everyone's attention turns to the back of the room where the boy, Finnigan, sits glaring. He was obviously in the process of hiding gum on the desks underside, and he growls as he looks at Alastor.
"Aw no way, the old codger can see out the back of his head!"
You duck quickly, seeing a line of white whipping through the air at the back wall of the class. Slowly, all students turn to look at Mr. Moody who has just chucked the chalk in anger. He takes a deep breath, pulling out his wand and smiling insanely.
"WEASLEY!" He calls, pointing at Ron. You look to your ginger friend, whose hand is shaking nervously. "Give my a curse."
"U-uh..."Ron looks your way, asking for an answer that he doesnt know. You shake your head, not really knowing much about it either. "Well, my dad did tell me about one... The Imperious Curse."
Moody shakes his head, pursing already thin lips. As he walks away from the chalk board, he speaks.
"Ahhh yes, your father would know all about that. Gave the ministry quite a bit of grief a few years ago. Perhaps this will show you why."
You watch as the thin haired man grabs a jar from his desk, unscrewing the top. He shakes it out, and on his palm falls a spider striped brown and orange. It steadies itself as Moody aims his wand at the creature, and you hold your breath.
"Imperio." He mutters, which send the arachnid into a fit. It tries to squirm, but is seemingly incapable of moving itself. Moody flicks his wand towards your desk, and the creature lands right on it. You cock your head as people laugh, being that Alastor just sent it flying across the room at Neville's head. The buck-toothed boy panics, and Dracos laugh rings out above the rest of yours. Mad Eye takes notice, turning to Malfoy.
