Second Month

As I walked through the doctors office I felt nervous and a little sad. Nervous because this would be a whole new experience for me and I didn't know how it would go. Sad because Nick wasn't here with me.

I walked up to the counter of the doctor's office where a receptionist sat waiting with a smile.

"Hi, I have an appointment scheduled with Doctor Abrizeo." I told the woman as I smiled.

"Alright and what was your name?" She asked as she waited to type on her computer.

"Samantha Anderson." I replied as I ran a hand over my stomach trying to contain the vomit I had creeping at the back of my throat. I plastered a smile on my face as I waited for her instruction to take a seat.

She looked back up at me after typing some on her keyboard and grabbed a pen from a cup. "Alrighty so, I'm just going to go ahead and have you fill this out." She said as she set a clipboard with papers attached onto the counter. She then set the pen on top of it all and slid it over to me.

"Alrighty. Thank you." I replied and took a seat in the corner of the waiting room with an end table. I set the papers down on the table and made my way over to the bathroom. I walked in and quickly shut the bolt, locking the door behind me. I then sped walked over to the toilet and got there just in time as I heaved vomit into the toilet.

I tried not to make too much noise but I couldn't tell if I was or not by the way the bathroom seemed to magnify all the noises. When I had gotten it all out of my system, I fished mouthwash out of my purse along with a traveling tooth brush and paste set I had been carrying around with me every since the nausea all started.

I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled. "I can't wait to meet you and don't get me wrong I love being pregnant but baby, this has to stop." I whispered to my stomach as I ran a hand over my tummy. It was adorable, I was beginning to have a bump now and I couldn't be more proud to be a mom.

I finished spitting and rinsing out my mouth with mouthwash and toothpaste before walking back out into the waiting room. Luckily, there was only two other moms in the room and they just smiled at me as I walked back to my seat. They knew. They knew what it was like I'm sure so I didn't feel as nervous or embarrassed as I thought I would.

I grabbed the paperwork I had set on the table and began filling it all out. All of the questions were simple as in what my name was and my insurance information. The last page was filled with allergy questions which was quick because I wasn't allergic to anything.

I finished the paper work and stood up to walk to the counter and turned in the papers. I began to walk back to my seat when just as I was about to sit down a nurse came through the door.

"Samantha Anderson?" I smiled at the nurse and grabbed my purse before walking to meet her.

"Hi." I said as I shook her hand.

"Hello." She replied with a smile. "Right this way." She then led me to a small office down the hall and we entered. I sat in a chair across from her as she sat at her computer.

"Alright Mrs. Anderson, I see we are here today for our first ultrasound." She beamed at me. She then grabbed a blood pressure thing and held it in her hands.

I nodded. "Yes." She then turned back to her computer and moved the mouse, clicking a few times.

"Alright." She started. "Well if you would just give me your right arm please and we can get started. I did as she asked and she took my blood pressure, pumping and pumping until slowly releasing the pressure in the end.

I smiled as my arm throbbed. She then jotted down some numbers and typed them into the computer as she put the pad away.

"Alright now if you would just lay down here that'd be great." She asked gesturing towards the bed in the room.

I sat on the bed and swung my legs around as I laid my head back. She then wheeled a machine to my bed side and hooked up little sticky pads to my stomach. I was beginning to get all jittery with butterfly's in my stomach as I knew what was coming next.

She rolled out a drawer in the table and exposed a tube of blue gel which she then gooped out onto my stomach after rolling my shirt up. I tingled at the cold gel and she put on gloves before grabbing a tool from the machine by the bed. I smiled and resting my arm behind my head as I looked over at the monitor. She turned on the screen and it became alive with a black and white image. She moved the scanner type tool over my stomach as she searched to find my baby.

I smiled at last when she found it's little head. I couldn't help but tear up at the sound of it's little heart beat sounding over the monitor. I cried softly as I smiled and heard each beat.

"Alright Mrs. Anderson. Here's your baby." She smiled down at me as I stared at the monitor. She took about five pictures of the monitor and they began spitting out of the machine as she wiped away the goop on my stomach and turned off the monitor. She unhooked me from the machine and I hopped up of the bed. I smiled when she handed me the pictures of my baby.

I wiped away more tears as I saw it's little head and little fingers beginning to form. I couldn't wait to show Nick and celebrate with him.

"Well, Mrs. Anderson, you have a very healthy child and I will be seeing you in another month." She smiled at me as she handed me her card. "Call me if you have any questions." She then opened the door and led me back out to the waiting room where there were now about three more moms. I smiled as I walked out the door, still clutching my baby's photos in my hands. I walked out after scheduling another appointment with the receptionist and left. I went back to work and showed the kids photos of my little baby.

The kids had many cute questions like,'You're growing a baby inside you?' And 'Eww.' From the boys and girls. I couldn't help but smile and laugh at their reaction and I looked over at Julie. I received a smile from her and I winked back as I then stood up to put the pictures away.

After work I met up with Summer for dinner. Tonight was the night I would tell her about my baby and now I had pictures.

I saw her walk through the doors to the little cafe and noticed she didn't have Adilynn. I smiled and hugged her as she sat down at the table.

"Hey. Where's Adi?" I asked as she set her purse over her chair.

"Oh, my folks are babysitting for the night. How have you been?" She asked, beaming with a smile. I couldn't contain the excitement any longer.

"Well..." I started as I fished out the pictures. Summer, slightly confused as I pulled them out, began to beam brightly at me with a huge smile.

"No way!" She shouted as I showed her my baby. I teared up as she smiled and looked down all of the pictures.

"Yep!" I nodded and chuckled. "We did it!" Summer clapped her hands together then came to give me a hug.

"Oh my gosh Sam! That's great news I'm so happy for you guys!" She said still smiling. "Have you been able to show Nick yet?" She asked as she handed me back the pictures.

I shook my head and put them back in my purse. "No not yet but I was going to Skype him tomorrow and show him." I smiled and she tilted her head.

"Aww! Well I'm so happy for you two! Now we'll be mommy buddies!" We laughed as she had a glass of tea and I had water.

"Cheers to that." I smiled and we clanked our glasses together laughing. I was so excited to tell Nick.

I got home from dinner with Summer at around 9. I came home tired and exhausted from the day. Not to mention my boobs were aching sooo much. I went to my room and immediately felt relief as I took off my bra and threw it on the floor.

I got in my pajamas and took off my make up when I wasn't able to sleep. I sat in bed contemplating what I should do when I looked at the clock. It had already been an hour and a half when I got home so I decided to Skype Nick now.

I listened as my computer rang as waited as I smiled at the camera waiting for a reply. Just when I thought I wouldn't get a reply he picked up.

In his uniform, he smiled as he saw my face come over his screen.

"Hey beautiful. How are you?" He asked with a bright smile on his face.

"Tired." I answered honestly and we both chuckled.

"Well, what's up?" He asked as I smiled at him widely.

"Welll..." I began as I bit my lower lip. I looked down on the computer desk and back up at him. "I was going to wait until tomorrow but look! Isn't it cute?!" I shouted as I held the pictures in front of the camera.

"Oh sweetheart! That's amazing. Wow, look at that." He said as he looked further into the camera. "Have you been looking at names yet?" He asked off the bat. I was a little surprised as I smiled at him. I set the pictures down.

"Not yet but I told Summer today and the kids and they gave me a few ideas." I laughed. He smiled and then fished around in his bag for something.

"Well, I've been thinking of some in my off time. Want to hear?" He asked as he held a small list in his hands. I teared up at the fact of his being so organized and planned. I was becoming so emotional lately.

I nodded my head and wiped away tears as he read off some names. "Well, I have: Emma, Zoe, Amethyst, Chloe, Samantha," he said winking at me. "And Leslie." I scrunched my face up at the last one and shook my head.

"I don't like Leslie." I said and smiled. "But I love Zoe and Emma. Amethyst is cute but I am a little iffy with that one and Chloe is adorable. I don't want Samantha after me though." I laughed as he scowled jokingly.

"Alright then I will keep thinking of them." I nodded.

"Please do babe. They all sound fantastic. I'm so blessed to have you Nicky. I'm happy you're thinking of names even when you are so far away." I smiled at him. He chuckled.

"Well, it's fun. And it takes my mind off of things and places me back at home with you and little miss on the way." I laughed.

"So I take it you want a girl?" I asked a I rose my eyebrow.

"Of course. Having a wife as beautiful, funny, smart and talented as you, I want a little mini you to love and hold and call mine all over again." I held my lips in a grin and tears began to flow down my cheeks again.

"Oh Nicky. I love you so much." I then kissed my hand and blew a kiss to him through the camera.

"I love you more Baby doll. And I can't wait to see you again." He smiled. "Now you get some rest and I will talk to you again soon." I smiled and waved as I was waited for him to end the call. "Oh and one last thing," he started. "Don't forget to tell my mom." He winked and smiled.

"Ugh!" I moaned as I jokingly rolled my eyes at him. I then laughed and waved to the screen again. "Alright baby. Love you!" We then waved good bye and the call ended.

I smiled and laughed at his little quirkyness. I then turned off the computer and wrote down the names he said earlier before walked back to bed. When I laid down I almost immediately fell asleep after setting my baby's pictures on the bed stand.
