The Change

Waking up to the sound of the locked doors outside my room open with a woosh is usual. The same man in a pearl lab coat looks in at me, he looks back at this clipboard and flips through the papers with a rustle.

"What's it today doc?" I asked sitting up and getting out of bed.

He continues to flick through his papers for a minute longer before speaking.

"Got to run through the T-14 Exam again with you, they weren't happy with the results last time. If you don't comply again, you know what will happen.." He sighs and taps his board absently.

"I am trying my best..." I look away.

"..Well, it's not good enough A2. You are the oldest as of today and expect a full differential change from you. So no matter how much it hurts. Do it. Or else. Are we clear?" He rhetorically asks.

I lay back and push an arm over my head. 'What am I going to do?'

"Heya Ash!!" I turn to see him, he flashes me his million-dollar smile as he flings his arm around me, we continue to walk into the Cafeteria. Guards stationed at all doors and with the staff.

Ignoring all the stares we got, we got our food and sat down.

"Melissa is really getting on my nerves with all these new tests." He stated, pouting at me. Shoveling a face full of food in his gob he continued. "How comes your doc isn't making you retake the transformation exam?"

I rolled my eyes. "He is, but I still don't understand what he wants me to do, he just keeps putting me in frustrating situations." I sigh moving my food around the plate.

"Hmmm." He suddenly looks around before leaning over to me. "Did you hear what happened to Axel?" He asked in a hushed voice. But I shook my head and leaned closer.

"They sent him to a different facility in Ireland." He whispered.

"W-What?!" I gasped too loudly. The guard's eyes flickered over to us quickly.

"Yea, I heard he surpassed standards in all the exams and now he is going through into extreme training project." He said sloppily stuffing his face with bread.

"B-but he-"

*A2 REPORT TO QUAKE CENTRE NOW*

He gulped looking at me sympathetically "Good luck."

The door opened suddenly to see the Head of Operations, he was in his usual black suit and was with 2 unusual male and female people in lab coats.

He said nothing as he entered but Doc shuffled around immediately and began to absently tighten the cable ties anxiously.

I rolled my head to the side to see him and Doc looked back at him

"Sir." He straightened his back in the chair beside me.

"Do you know why we're here?"

"Because A2 has been lacking." He said with a dry mouth.

The suspicious couple in lab coats spoke incoherently and the man smirked.

"No. Because you've been lacking." The Head stated giving off a very toxic atmosphere.

I desperately closed my eyes after feeling something change, a swift gust of wind moved by the Doc.

Just as I heard a heavy mass hit the floor with a thump.

A warm spray of liquid hit me.

My heartbeat rose exponentially as anxiety built up in my chest. As the hairs on my bare arms rose and my fists were tightly clenched together. With my eyes scrunched closed I held my breathe as I felt him looming over me. Every part inside my body was rushing with adrenaline but I remained as still as I could. I felt my bones snap in response.

"A2." My eyes snapped open.

"Well done."

I looked up at the mirrored ceiling, my eyes didn't focus on the unresponsive body on the floor, but on my face. I slowly moved my hands popping the cable ties holding them and up to my head, a pair of large wolf-like ears protruded my skull, my hearing was incited. My small ears were nowhere to be seen. But the 4 heartbeats in the room could be heard including my own, I felt a rush of blood circulating throughout our bodies. The perfume the white woman was wearing wafted up to my nostrels, her man's lack of hygiene was apparent as my nose scrunched up. Anything and everything I could sense was heightened.

My eyes flickered over to Him. He didn't smell of anything, other than Doc's bloo-

Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my wrist, smelling him had my hands trying to scratch him with my bare hands, but my hands were different too, I blurrily pulled my hands in front of my face my strangely sharp pointed fingernails were serrated. I panicked and an unfamiliar noise erupted from my lungs. The 2 lab coats pinned me down as my senses faded. The last I saw was the back of him.
