Nightwatch - The Fading Light

NIGHTWATCH

Ye Ol' Hunter. The underground pub was undoubtedly Braig's favorite place to be nowadays. He took a seat at the pub's dimly lit bar, and motioned at the bartender, an older asian man with a ponytail. The bartender quickly abandoned his other customer, who looked on angrily as the man made his way to Braig, who smiled and handed the man a one hundred dollar bill. "Drinks are on me."
The crowd behind him cheered, only to be shushed by the bartender. "I suggest you all go back to drinking quietly. You know the rules here."
Braig chuckled, before fist bumping the bartender.
"Nathan Shaw, you old goat. How about makin' those drinks cheap. It's not like those dull ass fuckers know the difference."
Nathan nodded, before speaking.
"It's been a while. How have you been?"

"Decent. Lots of hits lately. Makin' good money."

"You leave that shabby apartment yet?"

"Nah. The owner lets me stay there discounted. Bastard had me take out his wife so he could quit hiding his mistress."

Nathan simply shook his head.
"You deserve better Braig."

"I have my reasons. Any new contracts show up for me?"
The bartender nodded, before reaching into a drawer. After a moment of searching, he finally found the paper he had been searching for. Handing it to Braig, he walked back to the customer he had previously abandoned.

"Anti...Sync? That sounds...familiar." He muttered, before reading the contract in full. "So....this company wants me to take out...Hyde Stien?" Braig thought for a moment. "Wasn't that the good guy in the story about the schizo dude?"

Mathew stumbled out of the doorway, breathing heavily as he did so. Falling into Sujara's arms, he dropped the rapier he had previously obtained...

"It was, dark, and light! Everything was cold...
Then this...monster jumped out! It was-" Sujara had placed her index finger on his lips, silencing him. "It is alright. That was but a taste of what is to come. You must become stronger. Take the sword." She said, placing the rapier in his hand. "This is Xurvik.
It will guide you to the next gateway. There you will find Reznaught.
After you claim that blade, you can traverse the realms of Earth and Hell as you wish. Farewell, child..."

The Great Dragon wrapped it's tail around Hell's Skyscraper, letting out a vicious roar. It's midnight black scales shook, and the monster unfurled it's tail as it took to the scarlet skies of hell. Racing through the Ninth Circle, a fiery pentagram appeared in it's path, and as it passed through, both the dragon and the satanic symbol disappeared. Now in the Fourth Circle, the monster landed, its jagged, scythe-like talons digging into the fields of a large plaine. Screeching a deafening cry, it took to the skies once more...

Mathew's eyes slowly opened, taking in the sight of an unfamiliar white room. He was, once again, laying in a stranger's bed. The window to his left told him it was night, and the man in the doorway told him who's home he was in.

"Mathew..." Christoph began, stroking his goatee, "What made you think it would be a good idea to steal my company's property?"
Mathew froze, before hesitantly explaining the urges, the pulling sensation, and the connections Mathew had felt as he had saw the device for the second time.
Christoph listened closely, and intently as Mathew described what had been put into his head as he first touched the device.

The man let out a fierce growl as the boy finished. He picked up a vase from the beside table next to Mathew, before throwing it into the hallway outside of the room. Mathew jumped at this, and Christoph took a deep breath.
"Peter never told me what that device was. All he told me was...we would know when we found it's rightful bearer." He rubbed his temple, "But a kid? What was Pete thinking?!"
The man looked back to Mathew, and gave him a grim look.
"You've been missing for a day. Where were you?"
