Beating Hearts

Thora's eyes fluttered open, a small whine leaving her as she had unintentionally woke up. She looked over at her alarm clock on the windowsill and groaned quietly when she saw it was only 3:45am. She already knew she wouldn't fall back to sleep. Then she realized the protective arms wrapped around her.

Looking up, she couldn't help but smile at Bernard's sleeping form. Slowly, as not to wake the Swede, she reached a hand forward to brush some of his hair out of his face. Thora smiled lovingly at Bernard, even if he couldn't see it.

Thora couldn't express how happy she was to have someone like him. She almost felt honored that even through their fighting that sometimes got out of hand, Bernard had still loved her. Not someone else. And truthfully, The Finn was actually kind of surprised. But she wasn't complaining. She had the love of her life. What was there to complain about?

With a silent, content sigh, she lay her head on Bernard's chest, listening to his slow even heartbeats.

Ba-dump...ba-dump...ba-dump...ba-dump.

The sound of Bernard's heartbeat lulled Thora back to sleep, a small smile on her face as she reentered slumber. But she said one more thing before she fell back to sleep.

"I love you."
