Juliette stood there in the room with Owen just praying this was all a dream and that she didn't have to revel her past. It was something she wanted to keep secret and just move on from at least for the time being.
"It's nothing sir, just a personal matter." Juliette said with her fingers crossed praying Owen wouldn't continue to pry. She could never lie to him. Could she?
"When someone answers a call from their personal phone in MY OR it instantly becomes my problem. Now tell me what was the phone call about?" Owen said in such a stern voice it sent tingles down Juliettes back.
"I'm sorry sir but I just can't, like I said it's a personal matter and that's all." She said step towards him to show she wasn't intimated by him when truthfully she was undoubtedly intimidated.
"I heard what you said." Owen said as Juliette was headed to exit the room.
"You heard what?" Juliette replied still facing the door.
"'They want me dead', and three months ago I overheard you talking on the phone about a "sweep". Now if I'm not mistaken I know exactly what a "sweep" is." Owen said doing his best to find out as much as he could about all the secrecy Juliette's been keeping .
"How would you know?" Juliette asked.
"Because I was a trauma surgeon for the US army." He replied. Juliette became dumb founded, how could she not have seen it before? The way he spoke in the trauma room, the way he walked.
"I ugh, I didn't know," was all she could bring to say.
"Now you tell me. What the hell are you hiding? Does Richard know?" Owen asked again.
"Yes Richard knows," she began to reveal "I myself was in the military." Finally her wall was broken down by a single man. After so many months of trying to hide it from him and many others she broke. And by the only person who could.
"You were a trauma surgeon? How come our paths never crossed than?" Owen asked not just Juliette but himself.
"Because I wasn't in the US military. I'm actually Canadian and I wasn't a trauma surgeon." She said facing Owen but holding her head heavy unable to meet Owens eyes.
"Then what field were you in?" Owen asked.
"I was an infantry soldier in the Canadian military." Juliette began.
"Than how'd you come to be a surgeon?" Owen questioned again. So much on his mind he couldn't keep up with his thoughts.
"I graduated high school when I was 12. Finished my schooling for surgery when I was 14." Juliette said as she sat down on the bed, Owen following her motion taking the spot next to her. "They made me do my intern years within the school. When I was 18 I applied to the military to pass time because they wouldn't let me into my residency because I was too young. When they sent me off for training in the military I found out my childhood best friend was in my unit. When we were deployed I became great friends with my team. We were a family. I spent 5 tours fighting to protect my Country. On my sixth tour I was promoted to Captain of my team." Juliette explained.
"But who's after you? Who wants you dead?" Owen asked scared of what he might hear.
"They call me The Silent Killer. I lead so many sweeps that I lost count. They said I was the best in the field especially for such a young soldier. I could take down anyone without firing a single shot if I wanted to. But one day I was separated from my team. I was jumped and they took me for information on my unit and information on the Canadian military. They strapped me to a chair and did everything they could to break me. And believe me I wanted to. I wanted it to just end. But I couldn't let that happen. Then one day after I don't know how many there I was in the dark cold room strapped to the chair when there was a struggle going on outside the door. I saw my team come through the door and the next thing I knew I was laying in a hospital bed." As Juliette finished holding back the tears from the pain she saw Owen just sitting there his jaw on the ground and his eyes wide as ever. "Now if you wouldn't mind I will be going home now. You have a goodnight Dr. Hunt." Juliette said walking out of the room leaving Owen there sitting with his thoughts.
Juliette drove home and into the driveway. Leaving her truck she walked inside to friend and roommate on the couch. Saying nothing she went straight to her room and tossed her bag on the bed. She had just opened up to Owen Hunt about her past. Something she never wanted to revisit never the less open up about it. After taking a nice long and hot relaxing shower to wash away the thoughts she pulled out a couple of large sheets of paper and went into the kitchen and placed the papers on the dinning table. A very large house design was revealed as she unraveled the sheets.
"How's the layout going?" Connor asked from behind Juliette.
"Good. Still can't figure out where to place the room though." Juliette said pointing to the sheet that read second floor, for the blueprint of her new house she has been planing to build.
"Well what about here? I mean it's close to your room and there's some great space for everything, plus you can put a door right here that goes out to that very large balcony of yours." Connor pointed with a little laugh at the end. "Well I'm off to bed, I suggest you do the same." Connor said walking up the stairs and disappeared around the corner. Juliette just stood there staring at her prints. They gave her hope of a brighter future and that's just a little bit of what she needed a bit of light in her life. But it seemed to be so hard to find. But when she was with Owen the darkness she feels engulfing her begins to break just the slightest. Could Owen be the break in the dark Juliette just needed?
