50k on my first book whattttt??? Thank you guys sooooo much!
Casey's POV
"She's gonna die, Carl?" I sighed falling onto the bed he was sitting on loading up guns.
"There was nothing you could've done to prevent it." He replied taking my hand.
"I know. She's making jokes, and she knows she's going to die. Who does that?" I smiled a little.
"Someone who has lived a good life."
"Well then I wanna go out that way." I replied sitting up. I looked out the window through the cracks of the curtains. Walkers took up every inch of the street. "What are we going to do?"
"My Dad will find a way. Or you." I quickly shook my head.
"No. I'll mess everything up." I stood up and took Judith in my arms. Carl looked out the doorway and narrowed his eyes.
"I'll be back." He got up and followed someone out the door. I held Judith close kissing her head.
"I won't let anything happen to us, okay?" I whispered and she made a small noise.
Her teeth were almost all in. These past few days I've been feeding her apple sauce. She makes a scrunched up face as if she doesn't like it but then gets upset if I don't give her more.
I waited for Carl to get back, after a few minutes I set Judith down and went to look for him. I looked in all the other rooms upstairs, then went downstairs. The kitchen was empty, the living room too, along with the bathroom. So Carl was missing, and so is Ron.
That's when I heard the crash come from the garage.
I quickly went to the door only to find it was locked. The others came running down the stairs questioning what was happening. I knew it had to be Carl and Ron, and I knew what was happening wasn't good. Glass shattered inside and I gasped almost breaking the door knob. I tried to get my eyes to turn but for some reason in this moment I couldn't.
"Casey!" Rick cried.
"I'm trying!" I replied giving him a worried look. I held my breath, squeezed my nails into my palms, anything to get my heart racing. Nothing was working. "I can't do it." I mumbled backing away.
Rick has to break the handle. When he did the door opened and the boys stumbled in. I pulled Carl into a hug as the others covered up the door before walkers got in. I pulled away making sure he wasn't hurt.
"What happened in there?" Rick asked Carl as we pushed a couch to the door. Walkers tried to fight there way in. Rick got Michonne to look for more things to cover the door.
"We we're looking for tools and the shelf fell over." Carl said.
Bullshit.
"We heard yelling." Rick narrowed his eyes at him.
"Ron saw them getting through the gates we had to do something." Carl lied.
"It sounded like you were fighting." Jessie added.
"Yeah we were fighting them." Ron scoffed before going into another room. Carl followed him, and I of course followed Carl.
"Casey go back." He sighed.
"I know all that was bullshit, Carl." I sighed. "Don't lie to me."
He didn't respond, he turned around and walked to the room where Ron was. I shut the door behind us. When Carl pulled out his gun I instantly grabbed onto mine.
"Give me your gun." Carl stated motioning to it. Ron hesitated but gave it to him. "Look I get it, my dad killed your dad. But your dad was an asshole." Ron was angry because he knew it was true.
We left the room. Michonne and Jessie were looking out the windows. There was a loud crash from the front porch. The noise only made more walkers attracted to the house. Judith started to cry from upstairs.
"I'll get her." Rick called out before disappearing upstairs.
I slowly made my way into the kitchen thinking about how I couldn't turn. What's happening to me? Why is this happening? First my tears don't burn now I'm not turning.
"Casey?" Carl asked walking in. I wiped my cheeks smiling at him. "What's wrong?" He asked taking my hands.
"I couldn't... I couldn't turn." I choked out. "You almost died because everyone was waiting on me to turn and I couldn't!" I cried.
"It's okay, Casey. I'm fine, Ron's fine." He shushed pulling me into a hug.
"I know, but what if this is a sign? What if my immunity is wearing off? I don't want to be like them, Carl. I can't." He pulled me away and kissed me gently.
"I won't let anything happened to you." He whispered.
"I don't care about what happens to me. I care about what happens to you, and Judith, Rick. Everyone! I could be the cure to this madness. Without me there is no more cure and no more hope." He couldn't disagree with me.
"You are more than that Immune girl, Casey." He smiled a little. "You're my Immune girl." I chuckled wiping my cheeks again.
"How sweet." Ron walked in rolling his eyes. He went to the fridge and pulled out a water.
"Nobody asked you, asshole." I glared.
"Nobody asked you, Princess." He mocked. I held Carl back as he stepped towards Ron.
"I covered up for you. Now leave us alone." Carl hissed making Ron roll his eyes.
"I'm going to check on Judith." I said and Carl nodded.
I went upstairs to see Deanna now in the room where Judith is. She was talking with Rick. I stopped to listen in before I entered. They didn't see me.
"As for Casey, don't hold her back." Deanna said. "She's something special. She's something more than Immune. She is a survivor, a warrior, and a teenage girl. Some of the most powerful things in this world. But also the most dangerous." Deanna glanced over at me. "You're gonna change this world." Rick turned around.
If one more dying person tells me how I'll change the world, then I won't have a choice but too change it.
"Rick!" Jessie yelled from downstairs.
"Bring Judith into the other room!" He ran passed me. I grabbed Judith and Deanna stopped me.
"I know there's a beast inside you. You just have to control it." She said. I don't want control I want to let go. "Now go."
I ran into the next room and set Judith inside of her stroller. She gave me a small smiled and I kissed her forehead before running downstairs. The walkers were fighting their way in. I grabbed out my whip and prepared myself.
Everyone tried to hold them back but there was no use. They begin to get inside. Carl ran to my side and took my hand. Michonne shouted for everyone to get upstairs. Carl and I helped Rick block the door to the stairs once everyone was upstairs.
"You get the one in the front, I'll get the one behind it." Rick said to me.
"What?" I asked.
"It's our only way out."
My mind went back to Hershel's farm. I was in that tree all over again on the verge of death. I gutted a walker and covered myself with it's insides. If it worked then, it will work now.
It has to work.
