Deadly Encounters

Patton's POV

I know it was mean to leave Virgil in the store alone but I have to know who did such a kind deed!

I look around and I stand outside the store. Finally I catch a glimpse of the man and I run over to him.

"HEY!!" I yell, I stop to catch my breath. He turns around to face me.

"Yes?"

"You played for our food! Two Hundred Dollars!!??"

"Yeah..." He looks at me half happy half angry. He scares me, but he can't be too mean, he just spent 200$ on two strangers!

"Thank you so much!" I say as I leap toward this man and hug him. He pushes me away roughly. I brush myself off and regain my composer. "What's your name?" I say with a bouncy tone.

"Call me D." He says scowling at me.

"Okay D! I'm Patton! I was just with my frien-"

"Patton!?" I hear a voice yell from behind me. I shoot a look over to see Virgil standing about 8 feet away from me. He looks mad.

"Why would you leave me in a store... ALONE!!?" He yells.

I shrug and turn to D, "this is Virgil! My best friend in the whole wide world!!" I smile a big smile. Virgil looks at me his lips straight but a tiny smile in one corner.

"Nice to meet you, Virgil. You can call me D." He stretches his hand out to Virgil with a grin on his face. Virgil takes the mans hand and shakes it. "Nice to meet you too." He says faking a happy tone to not seem rude.

"I was happy to pay the bill for you boys!" D says smiling at Virgil and shooting a demeaning look at me.

"That was very kind of you to do. How could we repay you?" Virgil says slightly grumbling about talking to a stranger, but I know Virgil will be fine.

"No need to repay me. Here, let's keep in contact and be friends." The word friends, yes! I start to bounce up and down as a turn to Virgil who just got handed a phone number. "Will do!!" I say. D walks off leaving me and Virgil alone.

"He's nice." Virgil says with a straight face. He turns to me "Let's. Go. Home." I nod knowing how angry Virgil is and we head to the car.
