Dawson POV:
When I wake up I notice Matt standing next to me checking my temperature. "How are you feeling Gabby?" He asks me as he gently strokes my hair. "Cold. I'm really cold. Other than that I feel miserable." "Gabby, your fever is at 103 already. I'm getting really worried, maybe I should bring you over to med." "I'm fine, just hand me my phone." "Why?" "I need to call Shay. Why would you even ask that, I have to let her know I'm gonna be out today." "Gabby..." "What?! Why won't you let me call Shay?!" "Gabby, sweetie, you can't. Just lay here and get some rest." "Why can I not call Shay? You know we are best friends! We care about each other Matt, you have to understand that." "Gabby, I understand that but... It's not possible for you to call her." "And why is that? We just talked yesterday!" "No, Gabby listen to me. You're hallucinating from the fever. You haven't talked to Shay for 3 years now." "What do you mean I haven't talked to her for 3 years?! We talk every day, we never go a day without talking." "Gabby, sweetie, I hate to put you through this again but..." "But what Matt? Just tell me. Why can't I talk to Shay?" "Because she died, Gabby. Shay died 3 years ago." "Wha... What do you mean? I just talked to her, she isn't dead!" "Yes Gabby, she is. I'm sorry, I know you cared about her, a lot." I'm in shock. I just stare at Matt before turning on my side and ignore him. A few minutes later I feel Matt shaking me awake. I guess I fell asleep, but I don't remember anything from this morning. "Hey Gabby, how are you feeling? And I'm sorry about earlier but..." "I feeling awful but what happened this morning? I don't remember anything." "Oh, you were just hallucinating from the fever and well you forgot about Shay." "And you had to tell me. Look Matt, I'm really sorry about that. But I still miss her, sometimes she'll show up in my dreams and I feel like nothing changed. Matt, can I have an extra blanket I'm freezing?!" "Gabby, you have a really high fever. Hold on let me check it again... Oh man. It's up to 104.3. I'm sorry but I need to bring you to med so they can bring it back down." "Ok... But I don't know if I can walk." "It's alright, just hold on to me." I give him a slight nod as he picks me up and carries me to the car. Once we get to med, I notice Nat coming towards me. "Nat?! What are you doing here?!" I ask shocked to see her. "More importantly, what are you doing here?" "My fever is really high, according to Matt." I say as Matt lays me down on the bed and Nat starts hooking me up to the machines. She starts working on me before giving me some medicine to bring my fever down. "Nat, what are you doing here? You don't look good." I say after noticing her swaying as she stands and clutching onto things to steady herself. "Look please don't tell Will. I had to come in. And you're right I feel horrible. But enough about me, you should get some rest. I heard about this morning, I'm really sorry." "It's okay, I don't remember it but still... I really miss her Nat." "Hey, I know you do. Just get some rest alright? I'll see you when you wake up." I nod as I close my eyes. I fall asleep thinking of Shay.
