"I reckon this is my favorite day of the year," Tim teased as he ran a hand across the stubble on his chin.
"I thought your favorite day of the year was the 1st day of Earp Expo?" Varun cocked his head sideways at his friend.
Tim nodded, "I do love me some Earpers. I guess this is a close 2nd then. A Homestead Homecoming is a very special thing." His words were slow and deep. It was almost as though his voice had a hypnotic facet.
"Like the first day of Space Camp," Varun's eyes lit up. "I was always so excited to catch up with those friends that I only saw once a year."
"It reminds me of the first day back on campus after Christmas break." DFK raised her glass in a toast. Instinctively, Tim and Varun followed her lead. When DFK drinks, everyone drinks. It's an unspoken rule.
"I would imagine you were quite popular in college," Time mused.
"Oh yes," DFK shook her shoulders playfully. "I'd pop open a bottle of bubbly and greet everyone as they returned."
Tim, Varun, and DFK were sitting at a bar just off the lobby in the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. Every year, for a few months during the coldest time of year, the cast and crew would move into the Fairmount, making it their temporary home as they shot a fresh season of Wynonna Earp.
The Fairmont was nestled at the base of the Canadian Rockies, one of the most beautiful national parks in the country. Though the cold Canadian wind made for frigid working conditions, inside the hotel the environment was warm and inviting.
"Shamir Pamela Dolls!" Varun yelled across the lobby as the elevator dramatically opened. Shamir danced out of the elevator, giving his best Michael Jackson impression.
In the last season, Shamir was killed off the series so that he could star in his own show. Incidentally, Shamir's new show was shooting at the same time, and their cast and crew were also staying at the Fairmont. This time of year, it was like a second Hollywood. A much kinder, cleaner, Trump-free Hollywood.
"Guess who I just ran into," Shamir whispered. "Alex Danvers. I think I have a crush."
"Chyler Leigh?" Tim asked.
"Yep," Shamir flashed his flawless white teeth.
"She's hot," DFK conceded, "But I'd much rather find myself stuck in an elevator with Katie McGrath."
Their conversation was interrupted by commotion at the reception desk. It was Jojo Baby Unicorn, fully clad in a Canadian maple leaf unicorn onesie. Next to her was Jen the Queen of Earper Hospitality who was pulling a wagon loaded with treats!
"Those are my people," Tim beamed and stood up. "I'll catch up with you all later," he announced and walked over to Jen and Jojo.
"Don't we have the best fandom family?" Kat greeted them with a smile.
A round of yelling, toasting and hugging followed.
"Where's my BFF?" DFK asked.
"My BFF," Kat raised an eyebrow. "She said she had to poop so bad that she was prairie dogging. She waddled to the bathroom. Give her a minute."
"TMI," DFK rolled her eyes. "Way too much."
"Where's my baby mama?" Kat asked Varun. "Is she here yet?"
