"I'm sorry I mislead you", I said getting up to calm him.
"No don't apologise", he said stopping and looking at me sadly.
"I'm so stupid sometimes...", He said chuckling but the laugh never reached his face. "...hope things don't get hurt. What the hell was I thinking? I met you yesterday...", He said pacing once more.
"Jake!", I had to shout to get to stop blabbering.
"Let's just forget it happened.", I said.
"Besides you the only friend I have right now"
"Ouch the friendzone.", He said clutching his heart dramatically.
I was glad atleast he has calmed down enough to crack a joke.
"So you have a someone?", He asked taking me by surprise.
"Uhm no I don't do relationships.", I said.
"Why?"
"Got hurt, still a bit messed up because of it.", I was shocked it was so easy to open up to him or maybe it was cause he opened up to me too.
"I'm sorry, that was one stupid guy to hurt a girl like you." , He said nudging my shoulder playfully.
"Thanks", I said giving him a smile.
"Can I be tell you something, I know you will find out soon.", I said hoping it doesn't ruin our friendship but I was afraid not telling him would be worse.
"Yeah what's up?", He asked.
"I slept with your brother", I said sitting down and covering my head on the table.
"What?!, How? You have been her less than a week.", He asked with shock in his voice.
"Saturday, I went to the club, got wasted and one thing led to another...", I said wanting to be vague.
"Wait, wait!..." , He cut me off. "Which club?".
"Uhm Waves I think.", I said shrugging.
"You have got to be fucking kidding me.", He said tugging his hair stressfully.
"What's wrong?", I asked.
"Oh nothing", he said grabbing his stuff. "I need a drink."
I grabbed my stuff too and walked beside him as we walked outside the building. He was quiet and lost in thought. Something was up.
"I have a bottle of vodka by my place, we can order food and hangout.", I said trying to mend things.
"Sure I'll follow you.", He said getting into his car.
I drove off thinking he might be bluffing and won't follow but looking at my rearview mirror I saw him following.
We pulled up on the parking space of my apartment.
"You have got to be kidding me! You live here too?", He exclaimed.
"Uhm, do you also live here?", I asked confused.
"Nah, nevermind", he said shrugging.
He is being weird.
We got on the lift and I pressed the top floor. He raised his eyebrows but didn't say anything.
Getting off the lift everything started to make sense, low and behold was his brother arguing with some girl.
"He lives in the penthouse?", I asked Jake.
"Bingo!" , He said sarcastically.
David noticed us and got shocked.
"Look just leave.", He said to the girl and walked to us.
"So you guys decided to come over.", He said smiling.
"Not really.", Jake shrugged
"I actually live here." , I said signalling at my door.
David got shocked.
"All this time you were nextdoor."
"Ok , we will see you another time. You have a situation to handle.", Jake said pointing at the girl still waiting for David before walking to my door and pulling me with.
David stood there with an angry look on his face.
We got into the apartment and Jake closed the door.
Jake started pacing.
"What's wrong?", I asked.
"You know that girl with brother? That's my ex.", He said shaking his head.
"She just dumped me out of the blue. Thing is he swore that he is done sleeping with my girlfriend's." He said angrily.
"I'm sorry", I said hugging him.
"She didn't deserve to be with you anyways if she is capable of messing with your brother."
"Thanks Tia.", He said calming down.
We ordered pizza and decided against the alcohol since we had work tomorrow.
We spent the night talking about his misfortune with girls and I came to learn that every girl he has ever dated has ended up in his brothers bed. That must be hard.
He said he had given up on dating because in the end it was painful to see the women he loved with his brother.
Turns out his brother has never had a serious relationship. He uses and discards females. The longest he's been with someone is six months and he ended up with Sam, but he and his mother never worked out. She left him and later got married and has a son.
As much as he is jerk I came to learn he was a great father.
"Do you have feelings for him?", Jake asked out of the blue.
"What?!, I barely know him.", I said shocked. "Besides I don't do relationships and clearly neither does he."
"He is in love with you."
