After All: You Only Live Once

Chapter 10

Dan:

Phil has officially been my boyfriend for 5, nearly 6 months now and our relationship has been greeted with open arms and a great sense of welcomeness. I think I'm ready. I think I'm ready to tell the world.

For years people have "shipped" me and Phil together, it annoyed me a bit after a while because sometimes it could make things a little awkward but once we began to acknowledge the ship by doing our reaction to "fanfiction" video, it wasn't so bad. I just ignored it. It was hard to see people writing scenarios I thought I could only wish to happen. However, now we are together it's hard to keep the "phandom" calm as the hardcore shippers are beginning to make links and me and Phil are finding it harder to go out together, as we can't really go out as a couple. 

It was time to tell the truth. 

Phil was watching Attack On Titan in the front room, (I'd watched an episode without him whilst he was away, he needed to catch up), "Hey Phil, I've got an idea for a youtube video that we can do together."

"Are you crazy?" Phil asked when I told him my plan.

"Phil, we need to say something, we can't carry on in secret." 

"As long as you're sure it's what you want." Phil got up from his casual position on the sofa, and snaked his arms around my waist, pulling me into him. "I love you Daniel." He bit his lip as he spoke, making him look even more irresistable. A shiver ran down my spine and the butterflies within my stomach always awoke whenever Phil said my full name like that. I tilted my head upwards slightly towards Phil, who had already leant down that little bit to close the distance between us. Gently our lips worked together, they moved slowly in time, capturing the moment untill we both began to lose control slightly. The pace quickened and the world around me began to fade, there was nothing left except for me and Phil. The kiss was passionate, it was like nothing we'd had before, it was if us making the decision to reveal our secret allowed us to give each other completely everything. My kiss held everything: our arguments, my self harm, the time we spent away from each other and everything else was released in this kiss and left us with a burning passion.

I gently pulled away and leant over to Phils ear, "I love you too," I whispered before moving my lips across his neck. 

 Phil:

I began to position the camera and the lights, I then grapped the paper we had quickly drafted some words for us to say on. Okay, it's time. And I'm terrified.

I sat on my bed, took in a deep breath and shouted for Dan. He walked in looking pretty calm and tossed me a kinder egg as he knew I was nervous. 

Okay, here goes nothing.

 I hit the record button. 

"Hey guys!" I plastered a giant smile on my face and began to relax a little as I waved -along with Dan- and started my video in its usual way. "So, me and Dan have some prettty big news to share with you." 

"Yeah, to some of you guys it may come as a bit of a shock, but we know that most of you will be a little happy." Dan gave a slightly sarcastic look to the camera before gently placing his hand on mine, out of shot. "So as many as you shippers have already guessed, or at least hoped, it is official. Phan is a thing."

Phan is a thing. Phan is a thing. Phan. Is. A. Thing. 

Those four words rang in my ears, hearing Dan say the words thousands of people have longed to hear for so long made our relationship feel very real, very fast. And I liked it. 

"We love each other very much and have been officially going out now for about 6 months, but we have had feelings for each other for a lot longer. But you can understand it was a little complicated for us." I felt Dan squeeze my hand in a reassuring manner, I looked at him and smiled, he gave me a cheeky wink. I couldn't help but smile, "We will still be doing videos together occassionlly and perhaps we will do a few more Day in the Life of Dan and Phil, videos now you know the truth, but don't expect too much lovey dovey stuff. Things aren't going to change in our videos too much to do with out relationship, but we are going to be more open about it."

Dan finished off the video and I started packing away, I was going to have a lot of editing to do tonight.

Dan:

I walked down the corridor and could see Phil packing away, humming to himself. I could tell he was a little nervous about uploading this video, I knew it wasn't anything I should take personally. He was comfortable with us, but this was going to be a big change in our lives. I checked my phone it was 6pm and I had a message from Louise wishing us good luck with our video and saying that she was really proud of us. I loved Louise, in this past year both me and Phil had become really close with her. 

I made tea and served it, calling Phil into the kitchen to get some.

"It's ready." Phil walked into the kitchen placing his apple mac on the counter, I put one arm around his waist and my free hand on his, as we both pressed "post" together. 

It was out there now. Phan is real. 

And everybody knows.
