Chapter three

My jaw fell open in complete shock. I mean not every day do you get told that you're demigod and then your dad decides to ship you out of the house.

"Forgive me if I'm extremely confused and WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! I thought that greek mythology was in fact a myth and now you tell me that I'm half god! Wait whose kid am I? That's besides the point, but please answer this question. Is that why you always pushed me away dad?" I rambled like I always do when I'm confused. My dad slowly nodded his head. Of course! He hates the ocean because mom most have met someone there and then they had me. For one that is gross and weird, but what about my siblings. Does that mean that we aren't technically siblings or at least full siblings?

"You know if you don't stop pacing, you're gonna make a hole." Remmy said lightly. I noticed that I had in fact been pacing up and down the full length of the room.

"If you were in my position would you not do the same?" I snapped, my patience was wearing thin. "I'm sorry that was uncalled for. What happens now?"

"I will be taking you to a safe place for demigods. You're not the only one going through something like this. We have close to a 100 other teenage demigods that will be in the settlement with you." Mr. Aris spoke for the first time. I looked around the room at all of my family that I would soon be leaving.

"I'll go pack. When do we leave?" I asked trying not to make eye contact with my family.

"We will leave as soon as you are ready." Aris said as I nodded in response. I made my way up to my room and started pulling things out of drawers and my closet. Zaylee walked in silently and started to help me pack. Neither one of us spoke a word for a solid 15 minutes.

"Just because you're leaving doesn't mean that you'll never be welcome here again. Just come and visit us sometime okay?" Zaylee whispered obviously trying to hold in the tears that filled her eyes.

"I know our address and I'll send you the address to where I'm going first thing. We'll write, that is if you want to."

"Gosh Max you're so dense, I'd love that! Send pictures too."

"Only if you do too."

"Deal."

She pulled me into a tight hug tears falling into my hair. The walls of emotions came flooding through me as reality started to sink in me. We sat on our bed folded in each others arms sobbing.

"You know Zay, you can't keep her from the rest of us." I looked and saw Rhett standing with his arms folded across his chest. Remmy and Rhor stood directly behind him.

"We're gonna miss Maxie, gosh you're even gonna make me cry." Rhor said, being the unemotional brother as always. I tore myself from Zay's grip and ran to my three brothers.

"I'll miss y'all. Please don't forget to write. Keep me updated on project Zays-dream-man." I said finally able to find something to smile about.

"We'll keep you updated. We'll even tell you the meeting dates." Remmy said through tears.

"Alright guys, I'll see you later. No good byes from this girl." They all smiled and watched as I grabbed all of my bags and headed outside. Outside Mr. Aris was speaking in hushed tones to my mum and dad. I walked up to the car that I had guessed was Aris's. He strolled over to me with the signature smile that I really wanted to slap right off if his face.

"Maxly Muriel, remember that I still love you. I know that you're gonna be far away, but come home whenever you can. I love you, baby girl, be strong for me." My mum said as she wiped tears from my cheeks. I looked over at my dad as he exchanged a slight nod. I mimicked his action as I stepped into the car. Aris closed the door and climbed into the passenger seat. I looked through the window to see my entire family standing outside waving. Even my dad lifted his hand in a half wave.

"I know that this change will be difficult on your part, but I guarantee that the life you are now stepping into is full of adventures." I smiled at him grateful for the kind gestor of reassurance.

"How and when will we be getting there?" I ask

"It won't take more then a few minutes. Now if you will kindly close your eyes, we will be there before you know it." I quickly obeyed, not wanted to know what would happen if I didn't. When I opened them again I was amazed at my surroundings. There was a large wooden fence that surrounded the enormous area. Cabins surrounded the encampment in non strategic ways. There was a field that was covered with teens and a few younger kids. Obstacle courses and other activities lined the open space. I noticed that not only were there teens and kids but also mythical creatures, satyr's and centaurs walked as if they didn't have a care in the world.

"Some of what you see now will take a little bit of time to get used to, but welcome the Settlement of the Heritage or as most of the campers say, welcome to the SOTH."

I got out of the car and stared at the camp, maybe being a demigod wont be that bad after all. I walk a slight distance from the car and try to take in everything. 'This totally cannot be happening to me'.

"Oh but it totally could be." I look over to see a kid with black hair and stunning features standing in front of me.

"Sorry I didn't realize I spoke that out loud."

"Oh you didn't. Lets just say that I may or may not be able to read your thoughts."

"Creeper much." I say scared to let my brain wonder just in case he caught me thinking something crazy.

"Don't worry I only use it on new comers and if you want me to."

"That's a comforting thought, Maxly Muriel, you can call me Max." I say reaching out my hand.

"Teagen, at your service. Nice to meet you Max. Hey Aris! What cabin should I put her in?"

"She has yet to be claimed, go ahead and put her in the UDC." Aris replied.

"What's the UDC?"

"It's the cabin for the undecided. Once we get your....?"

"Dad."

"Dad to come tell us that you're his or he sends a sign. You'll be in your own cabin soon."

"Who's your godly parent?"

"Mother dearest is Aphrodite."

"Aphrodite? That's the last person I would guess for you."

"Yeah well, looks can be deceptive."

We continued walking until we came across a small cabin. Teagen opened the door to reveal a large room, with a bunk and a table for furniture.

"Home sweet home." I whispered.
