Chapter 1:3 days till the wedding Ocean Shores
"Woah! Rough are we?"
Hunter said nothing to the boy. She slipped off her tank top and leaned down, reconnecting her lips hungrily.
This was his eighth time coming over to her house in a span of three weeks. Mason Siciliano was her new neighbor. He was a clean twenty one year old man who just so happened to be italian.
His hands connect to her hips and he continued to melt into her. There was no romantic connection between them, only sexual. Hunter made that extremely clear to him when they began their activities.
Besides getting drunk, stealing blood bags from the hospital, and attempting to cook dinner for herself, this is what she preferred. Hooking up with her neighbor.
Mason was an attractive man, older too, which made it all the more fun.
Every kiss was heavy with intensity— breathing fast with their heart rate faster. Before they knew it, they were naked. Hands roamed freely and hungrily, moans slipped out loudly, and they loved it. Their skins brushed together smoothly, like silk.
Mason grabbed onto Hunter and flipped them around hastily. Her hands slip off his seemingly perfect face and glided past his collar bone, enjoying the view of his chiseled body.
Before her hand could reach his lower region, he grabbed onto her wrist. "Ah ah ah," He smiled, watching her pout, "At least take me to dinner first."
Hunter rolled her eyes playfully and he released his grip on her hand. "There will be no dinner. You know the deal." Mason's smile never flinched. His hand skimmed over her body, making her shiver involuntarily.
"Va bene." He muttered in italian, his eyes glued to her fair skin. "Then I have no choice but to please you." His head lowered to her chest and he nipped at the skin, earning heavy breaths from her.
Before he could continue, the doorbell rang. The loud chime echoed around the empty home and both of their eyes roll. Mason reached over to the floor and handed her a robe before he dropped onto the bed beside her. "Hurry back." He told her with a smirk.
Hunter pulled on the silk baby blue robe and tied it tightly after slipping out of the bedroom. No one ever rang her doorbell. Everyone in the neighborhood thought she was away at Forks, and no one would knock on a deadman's door.
Her barefeet padded against the hardwood floors of her cabin home and she reached the door, unlocking it and swinging it open to see a package on the welcome mat. She bent down and read the label. It had her name and address on it, but at the top, it had a name she wasn't expecting to see. ALICE CULLEN
Without another thought, she picked up the box and slipped back inside, letting the door shut on its own. She sauntered over to the kitchen with a frown. She couldn't think of a reason why Alice would send her something and not call her beforehand. It was a nice surprise but it was bad timing.
Reaching into the kitchen drawer for a cutter, she thought about how she hasn't spoken to anyone from Forks for nearly two months. Apart from Bella, Charlie, and Alice, she cut herself away from the entire town.
They often questioned if she was alright, offering her things in hopes she'd come back. But she was sure of her decision. Things were going well; when she wasn't sober.
After cutting the tape, she ripped open the box. There was a black cloth laying on the inside along with a neat envelope labled, 'You're Invited!' Hunter snatched out the note with a sigh.
Isabella Marie Swan And Edward Anthony Masen Cullen
Together with their families, request the honor of your presence at the celebration of their marriage. Saturday, the thirteenth of August Two thousand and Eleven Five o'clock in the evening 420 Woodcroft Ave Forks, WA
"What is it?" Mason asked, waltzing into the kitchen in nothing but his boxers. His hair was a neat lump of curls and she nearly tossed everything aside to continue what they started. But she composed herself, staring at the card in her hand with conflicting thoughts.
She promised to go back for the wedding, but it seemed different now that she remembered it. Jacob would be there and she's been dying to get in touch with him again. But there was one person she was absolutely dreading to see, and that was the groom of the wedding. Reading the fancy card and eyeing the simple black dress put a bad pit in her stomach.
Hunter dropped the card onto the table and sighed, "My best friend's getting married." Mason hummed and grabbed the card, reading it to himself. "Bella and Edward's wedding. I love weddings."
Hunter snickered and pulled out the dress. She was glad Alice didn't pick something over the top like she assumed. It was perfect and elegant enough for her. "Are you excited to go?" He asked her, making his way to her fridge.
"Yeah." She mumbled. Her tone was dull and Mason had a hard time believing her. It was more like she was dreading the wedding more than anything. He pulled out an apple and moved back to the table, "You don't sound excited."
Her hand reached for her neck and she rubbed it anxiously. Mason knew nothing of her life back in Forks and it would stay like that. She wasn't interested in sharing her soap opera of a life.
"I thought I would be excited. But now, I don't want to go back. You know? I love my new life here. Being back has patched up a lot of my problems."
That's what she has been telling herself since she arrived back in Ocean Shores. She's suppressed Winston's death deep in her mind and she hasn't fully healed. Spending days with Mason and drinking away her nights alone, were all she could muster up the courage to do. She was afraid of letting herself fall back to the sad and angry girl she was before. Going back to Forks, even if she promised to, would ruin her.
It wasn't even only Winston she was afraid of, it was Edward. She left him in the middle of the road, in the dead of night, after he admitted that he couldn't fight the way he felt for her. She left him even with the gut wrenching feeling inside her. It was a conflicting thought that made her want to leave even faster.
"Sounds more like you're running away from those problems." Mason quipped, biting the red juicy apple with glee. Hunter frowned. She was doing exactly that, but she refused to admit that to herself.
In a way, this was her version of coping and adjusting. It was working for her even if it wasn't healthy.
But now she was starting to see herself from a different perspective. This was Bella, her best friend. She promised to go. Not showing up because of her own selfish needs would ruin their friendship. This wasn't about her anymore.
