"you are my favorite thing harry. i wish i met you a long time ago. everything would've gone so much better."

two years ago...

"harry, i'm scared." i tell him. i'm never scared. i've never had a real reason to be, especially with harry around. everything feels safe when he's around.

i half expected him to say but you're never scared beatrice but i wasn't surprised when he replied with "i know you are. it's gonna be okay. you'll stop hurting soon."

harry and i grew up near each other in a small english town where everybody who was somebody was known by the rest of us. we had been best friends for as long as i can remember, and naturally as we got older it become love, almost like metamorphosis.

everything changed on the day that harry was accepted into a group of boys who were starting a band. normally you'd assume it would lead nowhere, but for them it was instant success.

i somehow survived the first few years of harry coming and going, but then the band broke up... it was inevitable. their goals were to get to solo careers eventually, so i guess they got what they wanted. but this meant harry had to leave.

i remember when he told me he was leaving for new york. after months of arguing about me coming with him or staying back like i had originally planned for myself, we came to a tragic conclusion.

either my life would turn upside down for harry's sake, or i'd be left heartbroken if i decided to stay home. that was unless i chose to forget. it's for the best. you won't remember me, you won't have to miss me all the time. he observed.

memory charms are one of the perks of being a witch, but i couldn't bare the thought of living without harry. you won't have to bare it though, you'll just think it's normal right? you wouldn't know that you were missing something.

that was where we were wrong. of course i knew all along that memory charms come with a price (which is often the feeling of loss, without knowing what you've missed) but harry didn't. i love him though, and if drinking a memory potion before he leaves would let him move on from new easier, it had to be done.

we decided i'd move to london where his sister gemma was, just in case something went wrong. she could simply show up out of nowhere, re-meet me, and play the role of a supportive friend. i had already made my first payment on an apartment and packed up my things (getting rid of any evidence of harry), and everything was ready.

my one condition was this: if i wasn't gonna be around to look after harry anymore, i wouldn't have the peace of mind i needed to take the potion. i needed to cast a protection spell on him. unfortunately protection spells don't protect you from a broken heart.

if you're wondering why i didn't give harry a memory potion as well, here's why. memory charms and potions only work on witches and, they administer them for themselves. (thus lowering the risk of mean witches messing around with each other or worse, regular, innocent human beings.)

the night i took the potion went perfectly. everything was ready, i had administered the protection spell onto harry, and all that was left to do was take a shot of lavender liquid and fall asleep in harry's arms. (only for him to be gone in the morning, in both my bed and my memory.)
