Selena's POV
I took two steps ahead of him before I flip my head to face the boy standing behind me "Well, you can't just keep standing there if you want to send me home Mr.Malik," I tell him as he grins widely and takes two steps ahead, just so he can stand beside me
"Lead the way your majesty," he jokes as I chuckle "You're the boss,"
"Well," I smirk at him "We're on our way then," I giggle as I take my slow steps ahead as I noticed how Zayn would sway his hands back and forth as he walked, his eyes focused on the sidewalk as he tried to avoid any rubbish in his way. He finally flicked his head to his right and smiled widely as he noticed my gaze which was already on him.
"What are you looking at?," he asks as I laugh lightly
"You," I say as we stop at a stoplight, waiting for the signal to turn red " It's so cute how you're so careful," I say as he nods lightly
"My mum had thought us to walk like that since we were young, so I think I'm trained to walk like that," he chuckles as he looks away from me to see the road "I think they're slowing down," he says and looks at the stoplight as the colour red was shining, indicating we could start walking "Let's go," he says as his left hand gets ahold of my right hand.
My breath hitches as I feel his warm grip on my wrist. My eyes move towards his hands as I scanned how firm his hands were as it stayed plastered on mine. It was not the type of grip that would hurt me or threaten me, it was a sweet gesture that he used to protect me or shield me from any harm, just like the same grip he had on me in our classroom a few minutes ago.
"Come on ," he says as he gestured me to follow him while he took his steps and pulled me to follow his steps. My eyes then shifted from our hands towards his face as I saw how his head was positioned to look at the cars that were sitting behind the yellow pedestrian crossing before he flicked his head towards the stoplight in front of us. He scanned the stoplight before looking down at the road to make sure there weren't any obstacles in front of us that could make us trip. He then flicked his head to look at me who was a step behind him as he smiled widely, his big, caramel brown eyes shone with the evening sunlight that scattered above us. I looked at him in adoration as I noticed how his lips were moving. He was saying something to me but I was in a trance as I felt the world around me was moving in slow motion and the only thing that moved in a normal speed was the two of us. I stare blankly at him as he stopped walking and let go of my hand before he took his place beside me. I frown at the loss of contact on my wrist before I take ahold of my wrist as I hear a faint voice call me out.
"Selena," it said as I realize my world coming back into a normal speed "Selena!," I look back up from my wrist as I see Zayn stand in front of me instead of beside me "You okay?," he asks me as I blush lightly
"Me?," I feel the string of embarrassment hit me "I'm fine," I smile lightly, regaining my posture as Zayn smiles back
"Really?," he asks back "You looked really lost back there. You didn't even realize we made it to the platform," he says as I look down to see my feet standing on the platform.
I mentally curse myself before looking up back towards Zayn "I was just," I scratch the back of my neck "Distracted," I say as I lowly chuckle "The sun was too bright," I say as Zayn looks from me to the sky.
"Well then," he said as he stared directly at the sky "I don't think the sun would stay for our party for long," he looks back at me as I realized it was my turn to look at the sky. I noticed how the clouds were turning into a shade of dark grey indicating it was going to rain soon. I frown before looking back at Zayn as he laughed lightly at my reaction "It's going to rain," he smiled as he got back his composure
"I hate it when this happens!," I exclaim as he furrows his eyebrows at my statement
"When what happens?,"
"When it rains on my parade," I say softly before I look at the ground. He chuckles at my words before I sigh "It always rains when I'm happy," I say as his laughter dies down
"No," he says as he places his index finger below my chin and pushed it upwards, making my head to regain it's position as my gaze was fixed with his "Don't say that," he frowns
"But it's the truth," I sigh as I tried to look away, disappointed with the weather condition
"Hey," he says softly "Don't rip your eyes off me just yet," he says in a voice that was sweeter than honey as I fixed my gaze back with is "Although it might rain today, I'll be here with you to make the moments last. So what if you could get wet in the rain? I'll get wet with you and we'll get sick together. We can even visit the doctor together and get undercover together when we are forced to take our medicines," I chuckle at his words as I imagine us running away from our families and friends when they force us to take our medications "Who said a little rain can ruin our trip today? If you're here by my side, I'd even go for a walk when there's a Tsunami or Tornado coming ahead of us," he says as I giggle.
"That sounds nice," I say as his lips form into a simple smile "I'd like to see that,"
"You would," he says "But first let's us see how the rain joins our party as we dance along with it," he chuckles with me.
"You're such a sweet talker you know that?," I say between my giggles as he laughs
"My talk isn't as sweet as you are," he smirks as I laugh lightly before focusing my gaze on his eyes
"Pickup lines again?,"
Zayn smiles sheepishly as he ran his right hand through his hair "What?," he asks as he regains his posture, towering up above me "It helped the situation,"
I snickered at his statement "How could a pick up line help the situation,"
"It made you smile didn't it?," he asks as I cross my arms over my chest
"I won't protest on that though," I say "You've got a point,"
"I know," he smiles proudly "I always do,"
"Oh don't be too full of yourself," I laugh as I uncross my arms, my right wrist forming into a fist as I lightly pat his shoulder.
"Excuse me miss," an unfamiliar voice called out as I felt a tap on my shoulder. As a charge of reflex, I whip my hear to my left to see the owner of the voice.
"Yes?," I say to the old woman who stood in front of me as Zayn poked his head beside me to see who I was talking with "Can I help you?,"
"You certainly could if you two would stop romancing in the middle of the platform and start walking. You're being an obstacle for the people around you," she says as both Zayn and I flip our head to scan our surrounding, only people staring at you, some giving dirty looks as they passed us and some totally ignoring our existence
I look back at Zayn who flicked his eyes from the crowd, to me and to the elderly woman "We're sorry ma'am," he says as he steps in, standing beside me " We didn't know what we were causing," he said as the woman rolls her eyes
"I was young once too," she said "But at that time no one dared to romance in the middle of the road. My parents were much stricter that the parents today," she whined "Minta maaf. Please move away," the woman said as she walked away from us with annoyance.
I turned to Zayn with shock evident in my eyes. I've never been told off in such a way. that too by an old woman who is a stranger to me, in the middle of the road. "well," I start as he looks at me with surprise "That was interesting," I say as he nods lightly
"That has never happen to me before," Zayn says as I laugh lightly
"Well. looks like you haven't gotten the hang of Malaysian Aunties yet. They're the scary ones," I laugh "They'd tell you off in a manner you will never forget them. Ever,"
"You've experienced this before?," he asks
"Well not with strangers. This could be the first time an unknown mystery woman has told me off. But I've got worse talks from my friend's mum's or my relatives.," I smile "Trust me. you'll get the hang of it,"
Zayn's face was fueled with confusion yet he managed to make his lips to curve up into a simple smile "Well then," he clasped his hands together "I guess you'll have to teach me all you know," he says
"I guess I can give you an early introduction to my country. But trust me, Malaysia is by far the most best place to visit. Mostly because of the food!," I say with a grin, remembering all the food I have eaten in my life
"Food?," he asks as I nod wildly
"Yeah!," I say as if it were the most obvious thing ever " Speaking of Malaysian food, there's this really famous Restaurant that sells Malaysian food nearby our University. We should go there for lunch some time," I say as he smiles widely
"That sounds like a plan," he said as I giggle
"You know, your laughter is like a melody to my ears," he says with a smirk as I playfully roll my eyes
"Again?," I ask as I laugh "What is with you and these pick up lines?,"
"It just helps the moment and I'd do anything to make the moment last," he says as I smile widely
"Really?,"
"yeah," he smiles at me "If it helps our situation, I'll go with it," he says as I feel a droplet of water land on my nose as my eyes flicker " Looks like the rain had an early invitation," he states as he gets ahold of my hand again "Wanna walk under the rain?,"
"Even though we could catch a cold?," I ask with my eyebrows raised
"We could catch it together," he says as I smile wider before he leads the way by taking his slow steps.
