TRIGGER WARNING.
I couldn't sleep well last night. I just ended up staring at my ceiling blankly. I thought of the birthday party. I thought of Astrid. I thought of how Xela pounced on her. I thought of Eleanor running out of the campus.
I thought of her kiss with that boy.
I wanted to strangle him for kissing her. I didn't even know why I felt hurt by their kiss. I should have forgotten about her and let her run away but I followed her. I didn't know why I wanted to follow her but I still did. It wasn't like me at all.
I got out of bed, forcing myself to not think of her. I grabbed my red hoodie and headed out of the house.
Before I could step outside, I heard my mother's voice behind me, "Where are you going, Jonthan?"
I turned and saw my mum with folded arms behind me. Beside her was my sister. I sighed loudly, "I'm just going out for a walk."
"You are staying inside, Jonathan Ross," my mother ordered as my sister stuck her tongue out, "It's way too early!"
"I'll just be out for a little while, I promise!" I begged, "And, Nellie, if you don't stop sticking out your tongue, I swear I'll cut it off."
Nellie brought her tongue back in and rolled her eyes at me, "You're going out to see your slutty girlfriend, aren't you?"
"No!" I shouted as Astrid's image crept into my mind, "I'm just going out for a walk!"
"Stop lying, dickhead—!"
"I'm not lying, bitch!"
"Shut up, both of you!" our mother shouted, "You best be glad your dad isn't here anymore or else! And, Jonathan, I don't want you to lie when you go out to see Astrid."
"I'm not going out to see her, sheesh!"
"I told you not to lie to me!"
"We broke up, okay?!" I shouted at both of them and their jaws dropped, "We're done! We're done and I am going out for a goddamn walk whether you'll allow me or not!"
Before Nellie or my mum could shout back at me for shouting at them, I ran out the door. Why won't they just leave me alone? If my dad was still with us then he would probably be on my side. That is if he actually loved me like my mother used to tell me before she got bitter about him.
I kept walking and walking on the street without even bothering to know where I was. I just walked and turned. I had to get away from my house and clear my mind.
Then, as I passed an alleyway, I saw someone familiar. She had short black hair and was surrounded by empty liquor bottles. I turned to look at the person again and realized that it was Eleanor! Why was she in that alleyway? Why was she surrounded by bottles? And... was she actually smoking?! What the hell?! She never smoked before!
I stood there, shocked with what I was seeing. Eleanor would never drink and smoke. She was jolly and crazy most of the time but she would never drag herself down to drink and smoke. It wasn't like her.
Then it hit me: It was probably because of that guy! He must have forced her to drink and smoke! That asshole! How could he let her do that? She'll get ill!
Wait... why was I freaking out? I only saw her drinking and smoking. What did it have to do with me? I should calm the fuck down; it's her damn life.
No. I won't let her kill herself.
I ran over to her and threw away the cigarette she was smoking. She looked up at me with her surprised blue eyes. She looked horrible! I was about to shout at her when I noticed her wrist. It was bleeding! She had cuts on them and blood was flowing freely from them. I looked down and saw a broken bottle. A piece of shard was wet and bloody.
I knelt down and took her wrist, "Why did you do this to yourself, Eleanor? What happened?"
She tugged her hand away and even screamed because of the pain her cuts caused. She glared at me as she took another cigarette, "Why do you care? Leave me alone!"
"No!" I shouted at her as I threw her second cigarette and forced her to look at me, "What happened, Eleanor? Tell me! Did that guy do this to you?"
She looked at me; the anger in her eyes disappeared and was replaced by tears. I knew it. I nudged her, "What did he do? Please tell me!"
"You don't need to know," she said as she turned away and wiped her tears with her bloody hand, causing blood to mark on her face, "Just leave me be. Just go."
"I'm not going anywhere until you tell me what's going on—"
"Just go!" she snapped at me. I stared at her shocked. She had never shouted at me before. Her intense glare seemed to try to scare me away, "Mind your own business, Ross!" Then, she stood up and ran deeper into the alleyway.
I stayed there, still shocked by her reaction. I watched her make a turn and disappear from my sight. Then, I found myself standing up, chasing after her.
I didn't know why I was chasing after her but I was sure as hell that I wanted to. That asshole had done something to her and I intend to know what. I'm not letting him get away with whatever he did to Eleanor.
