Chapter 16; Upset Set-ups

Time is really short when you are happy. In my case, my happiness is only limited. It's like I was forbidden to feel it and even to experience it. And how can I think about happiness when all my life, they deprived it to me.

The moment I left my responsibility as a CEO weeks ago, I knew the consequences already. I mentally massage my temple as I listen to my mother's rants. I am pacing back and forth and end up being stress again.

" My God! Lexus Jana! How irresponsible your act is! And you even didn't give me a heads up! You just left without asking for my permission! You have a business to run for Pete's Sake! Get your shits together and come back right here Lexus Jana! "

Then she ended the call without even hearing my side. As always.

Fuck. What a day to start. I groaned frustratedly. She always had the last say of all my decisions. Even if I am here, Neil's been updating me every day. Kahit na hindi niya rin sabihin na kailangan ko ng bumalik dahil marami pa akong pipirmahan at dapat na asikasuhin, he  still choose not to. Maaga kaming nagising ni Von kanina. Early person kasi kaya dinamay niya ako. He was busy cooking our breakfast awhile ago when my mom called.

Naabutan niya ako sa ganong eksena.

" Breakfast is ready. What's wrong Jan? " puna niya sabay lapit sakin.

" I'm going back now. My presence needed me their so bad. "

I heard him sigh. Mas nalukot ang mukha ko.

" Oh you know I don't Von. "

Tahimik kaming kumakain ngayon. I was suggesting maybe he could visit me their sometimes but he refused in instant. We argued. But in the end, I gave up. My foul mood is even fouler.

" Maybe in time Jan. Just not this time. " he carefully said. Para hindi ako magtampo pero huli na.

" You didn't even text or call me for months Von. Even just to pay me visit their. I can't count on you anymore now huh? " pain is now evident in my voice. He notices it. His eyes now are pleading and softly directing it to me. I just can't hide what I truly felt. I've been through hell for the past months and when I someone, no one's even there for me. Even him.

He stands to reach me but I step back. He tried to reach me again but I motioned him not to. He should know me by now, or maybe he doesn't even know me at all? Hindi ko na alam.

" Thanks for the company. I need to prepare now. " I coldly said. Definitely dismissing him. I didn't wait for his response cause I immediately left him in the kitchen and call Neil.

" Neil, send me the chopper here. And prepare the team, I want to see the sales and report for the past months and now. Put all the pending works in my table, asap. And especially the delayed meetings, we'll fix it once I'm there. " I ordered him all my instructions as I saw Von glance at me before leaving. Inirap ko ang namuong luha saking mata.

Once I was done talking to Neil, I quickly prepared myself. I didn't wait long tho as Neil called me saying that they just arrived. I roam my eyes in my unit, it felt like it's gonna be my last time to come here. Just hearing my mom's angry voice earlier, I know what would happen once I got there. I release a heavy sigh before I close the door and face my ungrateful life.

Sinalubong ako ng security team ko at ni Neil. They all look relief at my presence. I could imagine the wrath of my mother when I was away and can't find me. And now that knew my place, I'm reminded to keep their mouth shut when my mom asks.
