My name is Brittany Smith. I am head cheerleader at West Side High in Los Angeles, California. I am the most popular girl in school. My friends are Tiffany Charles and Gabriella Tibbs. They are both on the cheerleading squad. And my closest friends. We are all 5’6, 120 lbs and super hot. I have blonde hair and hazel eyes. Tiffany has dark blonde hair with blue tips and blue eyes, and Gabriella has dark black hair with light brown high lights and brown eyes. We all have boyfriends. Mine is Dean, he goes to Malibu High, and he is 5’10 and the quarterback of his football team. Tiffany and Gabriella’s boyfriends go to our school; they are twin and are both on the football team – their names are Blake and Brian. Now onto the story.
I wake up to the sound of Starships by Nicki Minaj playing meaning that Gaby and Tiff were calling me. I answered the phone, “Hey girls.”
“What are we wearing today?
“ Tiff asked me as I got out of bed, walking over to my closet and opening it.
“How about black bottoms, white top with a splash of color?” I replied looking through my huge closet.
“Shoes?” Gabi asked.
“Your choice.” I said.
“Alright.” They answered in unison.
“Be ready in 20 minutes.” I said before hanging up.
I picked out a black mini skirt with pink leggings, a white tank with a thick belt and some pink sparkly pumps. For accessories I had my signature “B” necklace, my Versace pink purse and some pink and gold hoops. I took one last look in the mirror, grabbed my keys to my new red and black Mercedes Benz convertible, grabbed my phone and went downstairs to the garage. I got in my car and realized that Gaby’s orange Jimmy Choo pumps were in the backseat. I grabbed them and put them in the front seat with an intuition that she was gonna wear orange. As I drive down the street I call Gaby on the car phone.
“Hey. Are you ready yet?” I asked her.
“Yeah, I’m just looking for my Jimmy Choo’s. Have you seen them?” She said.
“They’re sitting in my passenger seat.”
“Oh okay good. I thought that my mom took them.”
“Lol. I’m outside.” I said parking in her driveway.
“I’m on my way outside.” She said walking out of her house. She was wearing black skinny jeans, a white t-shirt with orange paint splatters, and she was carrying an orange Gucci clutch. She got in the car, grabbed the heels and put them on with a very satisfying sigh.
“Perfect. Now my outfit feels complete.” She said.
“Good. You look good.” I said backing out of her driveway. “Call Tiff and let her know we are on our way.”
“Okay.” She said dialing her phone.
“Hey, Tiff. Are you ready yet? Mhmm…Okay...Alright…Okay...We are almost there…Okay...Bye.” She hung up the phone and turned to me. “She is looking for her earrings but she is ready.”
“Alright.” I said pulling into her driveway. I honked the horn. And she came out. She was wearing white skinny jeans, a black tee with a thick purple belt, she had a purple Versace purse and lavender platforms. She got in the backseat.
“Hey.” Tiff said.
“Hey.” Gaby and I responded.
“Did you finish the new cheers for State yet?” Tiff asked me.
“I’m almost done but I think we need to add either a pyramid sequence or a group trick part.”I replied.
“Well, is there a pyramid sequence in the cheer already?”Gaby asked.
“No, but I do have a group trick already in there.” I said.
“Then do the pyramid. Remember we don’t want to do too much of the same thing or else it gets kinda boring and predictable.” Tiff said.
“That’s true.” I said pulling into the school. “I can’t wait to show the squad the new cheer. It’s a little complicated but I think we can pull it off.”
“That’s perfect. If we do something out of our element the judges will never expect it.” Tiff said getting out of the car.
“And even better, Jen will be caught off guard.” Gaby said with that evil look in her eyes.
(A/N- Jen is the captain of the rival team’s cheer squad. She stole Brittany’s boyfriend and her routines for State last year, making Brittany’s squad get disqualified because it looked like they stole the other team’s cheer.)
“Ugh. I was having such a great day until you said her name.” I said starring Gaby down.
“My bad.” Gaby said.
Just as we go inside the school, Gaby and Tiffany’s boyfriends come to say hi.
“Hey girls.” Said Blake.
“How’s it going?” asked Brian.
“Hey guys.” I said. “I’ll let the lovebirds be alone. I have a phone call to make. I’ll see you guy next period. Bye.”
They waved bye at me until I got to the end of the hallway. I go into the girls’ bathroom and check my phone. 0 messages. I sighed. Of course. I might be the most popular girl in school but I rarely get messages from my boyfriend. We always ooVoo or Skype. I walk out of the bathroom just at the bell for first period rang. I hurried to the gym for our during school-four periods long cheer/gym class. I go into the girls’ locker room just as Tiffany and Gaby finish getting dressed. I walk into my office and put my purse down. I closed the door and sighed. When I walked over to my desk I saw something on it. It was a red envelope that had my name in cursive in silver and attached to it was a single red rose. I open the envelope and pull out a silver card.
“You have been officially invited to the Valentine’s day dance at Malibu High school by Dean Meyer. We hope you can make it.
Date: February 14, 2012
Time: 7pm-12am
Where: Malibu High
Invited by: Your awesome sexy boyfriend, Dean.”
I started laughing when I read the invited by thing. I grabbed my phone and sent a quick text to Dean saying that I would love to go to the dance with him. I quickly got dressed and went into the gym to start stretching. I sat next to Tiff and Gaby.
“We have to go shopping tomorrow.” I told them as I did a back bend.
“How come? Gaby asked.
“Dean asked me to go to his school’s Valentine’s Day dance,” I said with a smile. Before they could say anything I turned to the squad.
“Alright, you guys. I have finished the cheer we are gonna do at State. Now there is a part when we do a pyramid, right before a back handspring twist with someone – Gaby – doing a helicopter. Now let’s try and see if that works.” I said. “Get in the back handspring/helicopter spots. Alright, 1,2,3,4,5,6, ready…go.” I watched them do the tricks. Just when I was about to see if the sequence worked, the gym doors opened.
