Living at the mine was surprisingly not as boring as she had initially feared it would be. With all of the machinery, there seemed to always be something to work on to keep her occupied. And being one of the only unmated females got Red all of the attention she could take from the guys working the mines. Though she had only been on the planet for about a week, Red was pretty sure she could have her choice of any, or all, of the males available.

A grin stretched her lips as she finished tightening the bolt on the conveyor. There was a total man feast laid before her, ready for her to dive in. There were only two problems.

One, was how small the community here was. Though she had her own room in the refinery so that she was close to the machines when needed, besides the few families that lived here, the other workers all lived in a barracks building together. They all ate together at a communal kitchen. The men worked together every day and sometimes she worked alongside them. It would be easy for things to get messy, and she wanted to avoid that at all cost.

The other problem was Rainor. The Nargarian she had met on the ship when he and Zander, as well as a few other Alphas, came to help Karn deal with the crime-boss Largo. He had been a total cock-block to any male that tried to approach her, and since he owned part of the mine, no one wanted to piss him off too much.

Scowling, she tossed the wrench into her toolbox and slammed the lid shut. Deciding she was done for the day, Red collected her things and headed back to her room.

The room they had made for her wasn't very big, but at least it was private, and she had her own bathroom connected to it as well. Peeling off her coveralls, she tossed them in a corner and went into her bathroom for a quick shower. After washing off the sweat and grease, she slipped into a tank top and skirt before heading towards the cafeteria. Even the few families in the compound tended to eat there since it was easier than having to fix something yourself after working all day. Though she was the only single omega, there were a couple other female betas that lived there as well, so she wasn't the only one getting plenty of male attention.

When she entered the large room, she spotted Brie and Adaria at their usual spot in the corner. Heading towards them, she marveled at the cafeteria once again. Even after seeing it multiple times a day, it still took her breath away.

Zander knew after spending all day in a dark mine, no one would want to be stuck in another enclosed room, so he had built the cafeteria to be bright and open. One whole wall was windows overlooking the forest below the cliff that the compound was on. The other three had multiple windows as well, giving the room tons of natural light. The ceiling had skylights and was covered in a mural of the sky as it changed throughout the day, showing a sun setting above the wall of windows. The room was paneled in a rich wood between the windows that seemed to glow from within. Red thought it was the most gorgeous room she had ever been in.

The girls greeted her as she approached the table, Red holding out her arms for Naren, Brie and Zander's son. Brie happily handed him over and Red sat to cuddle him and give Brie time to eat in peace.

"Did you get that conveyor working again," Adaria asked her. "Of course. Cause Red is the best, huh," she cooed at the baby, earning a grin and a big dollop of drool. Adaria huffed a laugh as Brie reached over to wipe his face. "Oh, it's okay Mommy, I don't mind a little drool from this cutie." Brie laughed at her. "Not like he's the only one," she said. Red looked up and gave her a wink. She didn't hide the fact that she flirted mercilessly with the Alphas. Even a few of the braver betas too, just to keep them all guessing. "I'd usually say I don't play favorites, but in this case, I might. At least he is honest and drools on everyone equally."

Snorting, Brie went back to her meal as Adaria spoke up again. "One of the cutters is acting up again. I'll need you to work on that tomorrow before going back to the stuff in the refinery." "Ugh," Red said, rolling her eyes at her friend. "I told you I'm better at the big stuff. I don't know what else I can do for that thing." "I know, but at least try. I think Brie is going to order a new one on the next delivery," Adaria replied.

Noise at the door drew their attention as the guys that had been working the mine started coming in. She spotted Adaria's giant mate, Karn, as he came in and started heading their way. Brie's mate, and the main owner of the mine, came in just a few moments later, followed by her perpetual pain in the ass. Quickly looking back at the baby before she accidentally made eye contact, she missed the look Rainor gave her when he saw her holding the baby. She peeked up as the guys got closer and noticed that Rainor had followed the other two over. Standing, she handed Naren to his father saying, "Ok, your turn. I'm going to go grab some food." Ignoring his surprised look at her abruptness, she turned and walked towards where the food was kept warm on the opposite wall.

Unfortunately, she heard footsteps following her even before the voice came. "I'll go with you, then we can get some for everyone." Gritting her teeth, Red gave a grunt of acknowledgment. She wasn't quite sure why he annoyed her so much. It went beyond the irritation of him running off anyone else who showed too much interest in her. Maybe she was pissed because while she had been attracted to him from the beginning, he was acting more like an over protective big brother.

Red glanced at him again from the corner of her eye. Rainor was definitely attractive. Large and muscular, with deep red hair where hers was a more vibrant hue. He had let the stubble on his face when they had met grow into a full beard, which just gave him a more roguish, bad-boy look. And his ice blue eyes practically glowed. While he had the same marking as other Nargarians, where Zander's would change color with strong emotions, Rainor's remained a flat black like he lacked the emotions to change them.

Reaching the table of food, Red grabbed a tray and a stack of plates. As she began loading the tray, Rainor took it from her arms. "Let me carry it. Put the food on here and you can bring the plates and drinks." Grunting again, she didn't see the point in arguing with him and just did as he suggested.
