On the other side of the door, is a town.
It's pretty small but there's buildings and there's people roaming about. Things I haven't seen in a while.
The town is just like one from Earth, but instead of sharp green blades of grass or cracked roads, there's is only puffy white clouds.
Suddenly Aero laughs his perfect laugh, at my shock.
"Never seen a city before?" He mocks.
My eyes narrow as I say, "Yes, I've seen a city before. I- this just wasn't what I was expecting."
A person walks by in front of us but shows no concern that we're standing behind a door. Actually, they don't seem like they see us at all. There's only about a dozen or so people that come and go out of buildings, but there seems like more when the area is so tiny.
I can see one building a hundred feet from me, with a sign that says, "NEW ANGELS", which I scoff at. They have all eternity to live and they couldn't come up with a better name?
"Can they see us?"
"No, not until we step through."
Another thing I notice, is that everyone is pretty young. By their looks, I'd guess that they're all in their mid 20's, just like Aero. Instantly, I feel like a baby, being only sixteen. But I ignore it and go to step through the threshold, when a warm hand stops me.
"Hold on a sec." Aero says as he untangles his fingers from mine, making me blush.
He must think I'm such a geek.
Hanging my hand on my shoulder, I say, "What?"
"Just hang on." He simply says and waves a hand over in front of his face. Almost instantly after he removes his hand from the air next to face, it's not him standing there anymore. In his place is a tall, red haired, guy in a long cream robe with a gold sash down the shoulder. Instantly, I'm freaked out and wondering where Aero went.
Just as I take a step away from him, he says in Aero's voice, "Hey, calm down. It's just me. It's still Aero. I just have a different face."
I stop, foot in the air. "Why?"
"Well, you see people up here are kind of mad at me right now. Like really mad. So it's better if 'I' didn't go in." He replies looking shameful. He'd look cute if it was Aero and not some carrot top looking back at me. He's noticeably less attractive than Aero and not as muscular. He's more skinny and lanky.
"What'd you do?" I ask, worrying if he is a murderer, but suddenly, my shoulders relax. I'm already dead.
"That's not important."
"It is to me."
He stares at me, with this guys green eyes. It does nothing to affect me. Not like Aero's gaze.
"I.... can't say."
"Are you a murderer?"
He chuckles, which comes out more like a squeak.
"No, I am not murderer. We're already dead. And, man, this guy is a geek. I regret picking him."
"Can't you just change it?" I ask, relieved that he isn't a murderer. Even though I'm already dead, I'm sure you can kill an angel. Everything can die somehow.
"No, there's no time. We need to get going. The council is expecting you."
It's much easier to concentrate, when the hottest guy that ever walked on Earth is no longer standing next to me and I feel grateful for it, but a little saddened, because I really liked him.
"Wait. Can I still call you Aero?"
"Afraid not. This guys name is Zen."
"Oh."
Zen. Definitely not as cool as Aero.
He waves an arm, gesturing for me to go through the door first.
"After you." He says, as I pass him and step through the door, fearlessly.
Once I'm in, it's easier to see everything. There's few people out anymore, and the buildings seem taller.
"What is this place?" I ask, as 'Zen' follows behind me.
I'm not sure what to do, so I keeps my arms anchored to my sides and my feet planted to the clouds, as I pretend to look around and study everything.
I still can't seem to grasp the fact that I'm dead, and that I'm an angel who lives in heaven. I mean what the heck? My biggest worry yesterday was how people would react when they found out about me and Ash dating. Not, what I'm going to do for the rest of eternity, while living in heaven as an angel!
It doesn't matter to me that much anymore though, considering I'm dead and stuff.
I guess me and Ash are over.
"This is Angelicity."
"How clever." I comment, sarcasm dripping from my voice.
He looks over at me, clearly amused.
"Hey! I came up with it." He jokes.
"Sorry." I mumble as crimson threatens to creep up my neck and cheeks.
He smacks the air. "Kidding. It was some other guy like a thousand years ago."
I hesitate. "How long have you been up here?"
He thinks and taps his chin with his index finger. "Maybe..... thirty years." He decides.
My face falls. He's a lot older than me. Like a lot. But he's way out of my league anyway, despite our age difference.
"Oh."
He stares at me like he knows I have another question. Which I do, but I'm hesitant to ask. I'm no longer under the spell of the charismatic Aero, but it's a personal question that he might not want to answer.
"It's okay you can ask." He says, startling me. Even though he has a different appearance, he still manages to make me blush by his words and his smoldering gaze.
"Um, alright,"I reply, a little freaked out that he knew I had another question. All the while, I pray that he can't read my mind. Imagine all the stuff he would've heard me say about how absolutely amazing he is. He probably just figured, because my feelings were plain as day on my face, while I tried to figure out whether or not to ask the question. "How'd you um..... die?"
He smiles a bit at my hesitation, which doesn't make me want to melt as it did when Aero smiled.
"I was killed, actually. Like you. By a demon."
