The rock structures on the planet we were on was amazing, as Loki slowly steadied the ship through them. Thor sat up with Jane, stroking her hair as he looked at she with adoration in his eyes. I watched him as he did and something inside of me began to ache. I wanted someone to look at me like that. The only time I ever felt like that was when Loki-
"What I could do with the power that flows through those veins."
And Loki just had to ruin the nice thought I had about him.
"It would consume you." Thor answered him.
"She's holding up alright, for now." Loki snickered but Thor wasn't having his brother's tone and snapped back at him.
"She's strong in ways you'd never even know."
"Say goodbye."
"Loki just leave Thor alone." I said, not wanting to hear another peaty argument between these two again. I had enough on the last ship.
"What? She's going to die and I'm in the wrong?" Loki asked
"Not this day." Thor said, looking back at Jane.
"This day, the next, a hundred years, it's nothing." Loki said, getting angrier with each word. "It's a heart beat. You'll never be ready. The only woman whose love you've prized will be snatched from you."
"You speak as if you know." Thor said, causing Loki and I to freeze up. "And will her loss satisfy you?"
"Satisfaction is not in my nature."
"Surrender not in mine."
"Stop it!" I shouted at them, rising to me feet. "Both of you!"
They had stopped for the moment, and just that moment because Loki just could not help himself but to mumble, really loudly,. "Of course it's not, the son of Odin."
This set Thor off, as he stood in anger. "NO! No just of Odin!" He walked past me and got into Loki's personal space. "You think you alone were loved of mother? You had her tricks, but I had her trust!"
"Trust." Loki spoke the word as if it was poison. "Was that her last expression? Trust? When you let her die!"
Now I was pissed, "It wasn't Thor's fault! I was-"
"What help were you in your cell?" Thor shouted at Loki and Loki lose control was his emotions.
"Who put me there?" He screamed as Thor lost his temper, and grabbed Loki by the neck.
"THOR STOP!" I shouted but my words fell on deaf ears as they were caught up in their pain and grief.
"You know damn well who!" Ready to punch Loki into next year, Thor raised his fist. I grabbed his elbow, trying to stop him, but he stopped himself. He lowered his fist and let Loki go. "She wouldn't want us to fight like this."
Trying to lighten the mood, "But she wouldn't have been shocked."
The three of us, chuckled and slightly smiled as the mood settled back down. Thor slowly stopped as he looked at Loki, "I wish I could trust you."
We stayed quiet for a moment, realizing what Thor said was true. We couldn't trust Loki anymore, like we once could. So much as happened, things are so different than they use to be. We were technically traitors against the kingdom of Asgard, and while Thor and Loki might get a lighter sentience after this is all said and done, I might not be so lucky.
Loki thought of his words, before saying. "Trust in my rage."
With that, we all settled back to where we were. I sat closer to Loki now, as Thor went back to be with Jane.
"Tell me." Loki said almost to a whisper so Thor wouldn't overhear. "Why are you involved with all this?"
"Jane's friend, Darcy is my friend. She called, needing my help and things just took a turn from there."
"And just like that?"
I shrugged. "I was needed, so I came."
"And if I needed you," He asked, looking down at me as I looked up into his eyes. "Would you come?"
I had to turn away from him. "Truthfully, I never thought I would see you again."
"You wound me so." He chuckled, as he looked forward to make sure we were on course. "If it counts for anything, I'm glad you came."
"Even if I'm just another heartbeat?" I asked him. As he said earlier, I'm human like Jane. I will die sooner than he ever will. Would he long to be with me like Thor would with Jane someday. Maybe he didn't think of me like that anymore.
He never answered me.
Jane suddenly wok up and her face looked forward, into the nothing until another ship came into view. It was like she know something was there before any of us.
"Malekith." She said as Loki then lowered the ship to the ground. We got out of the ship, and keep low as we made our way to the ridge, where the Dark elves gathered their forces.
"Lady Dieanira, stay hidden and ready for when the moment comes." Thor said to me, as I nodded. Quickly making my way around the side of the hill, out of the sight out the dark elves and watched as Loki and Thor 'fought' in front of them. When Jane started to be lifted into the air, and the red energy that was in her had completely came out, Thor shouted 'Now' and I sprung into actions.
I opened my portal and came down from the sky, my hand glowing dark as I blasted it with everything I had. Thor called onto thunder to strike the energy as well and there was an explosion. I portaled back down to the ground, next to Loki as the smoke began to clear. There was no sign of the energy any longer.
I smiled, we had won. Suddenly, rocks started floating in the air little by little. I realized that Malekith was drawing in the force of the energy that just exploded into thousands of pieces. He called all of them back together. The small pieces rushed together and into Malekith and he screamed out in power.
He turned away from us, sending his army towards us. Suddenly, Loki pushed Jane and I to the ground. I looked at him, as I watched in horror as he was being sucked away by a black hole of some kind.
"LOKI!" I screamed, as I watched him go up. He looked back in me, scared. A flash went by and grabbed Loki, pulling him away from the black hole. It was Thor. They were both okay.
The ship began to take off. Thor powered up his hammer, and swung it at the ship, but was blocked by some giant dark elf. Loki and I watched as the ship was about to leave.
"I can do it." I said to myself.
"Don't." he said.
"I can try to pop in there and take them out from the inside."
"That's suicide." He shouted as I made a portal that hopefully was on that ship. I was about to walk into it, when Loki grabbed me by the arm, and pulled me in front of him, crushing his lips hard into mine. The kiss was so passionate as his moved against mine. The portal vanished, along with the ship. We slowly pushed back from one another. "I'm not losing you again."
"Okay." Was all I said as we just stood, while Thor was off in the distance getting his ass kicked.
"We've got company." Loki said as I snapped out of my thoughts, to see we were surrounded by dark elves. "Do you mind?" They attacked and we fanned out, to defend ourselves. I balled up my fist and blasted them while Loki skillfully stabbed them with his dagger. In a flash, the dark elves were all down. We heard a boom behind us, and turned to see Thor getting the shit kicked out of him.
"Think the mighty Thor needs our help?" Loki joked as I started to portal over to him. Loki took his good time get over there, as I jumped on the back of the thing, punching it in it's stupid hard head. It shook me off, as I landed down a few feet from Thor. I heard a cry of pain as I looked up to see Loki finally made his way over to us, stabbing the monster in the chest.
"Thank god." I said, causing Loki to smirk.
"Your welcome." His snugness didn't last long, as the creature grabbed him and pulled him in, running the pole that was in him into Loki as well.
"NO!" I screamed out as Loki was stabbed in the chest. The monster tossed Loki to the ground as Loki groaned and smirked. There was a beeping sound. The monster started to panic as a flashing light came from its belt. It tried to remove it, but then cried out as a black hole pulled it in.
Thor got to Loki first and held him, blood poured out of his chest. I came up beside them, silent tears coming down my face.
"I'm a fool. I'm a fool!" he said as he shutter in pain.
"Loki, you'll be fine. Everything will be okay." I said to him, running a hand over his hair.
"I'm sorry, Thor I'm sorry for everything."
"Shh, brother. Save your strength."
Loki turned to look at me. "I'm sorry for everything I've done to you."
"It's okay, Loki. We'll move past this."
"It's okay." Thor just keep repeating. "It's alright. I'll tell father what you did here today."
"I didn't do it for him." He said to Thor, while looking at me. He weakly lifted his hand to caress my cheek. "I did it for..." Loki's eyes closed and his skin turned a different color, and Thor cried out as I wept silently.
Loki had died.
