Chapter Nineteen The End Is Near

"No,no,no,no,NO,NO!" Clementine said,staring at horror at the bite.

"Walker. He got the jump on me. He ripped my boot off and bit me before I managed to kill him." Gabe said, his voice choked in pain and sadness.

"Just leave me,Clem.....get to AJ.....take my stuff...just leave me my gun with one bullet....I'll take care of myself." Gabe said tears running down his face, "It's okay,it's okay." Gabe told himself taking deep breathes and trying to be tough.

Clementine didn't say anything but she lunged for his hatchet and yanked it off the side of his pants. She raised it above his foot, "Hold still...." She said holding his leg with her other hand.

"Whoa, Whoa! Clem, what are you doing?!" Gabe said panicking as she raised the hatchet over him.

"Saving your life. Don't move." She was about to swing when Gabe put his hands in front of his foot.

"Clem, there's no point! I'm bit!" Gabe said.

"Cutting your foot off could save you!" Clem snapped, "Now move your hands away!"

Gabe shook his head, "Clem, the raiders are going to the ranch, every second you waste with me is a second lost to AJ! Save him Clem! I'm as good as dead, don't let AJ be too, ok?"

"Shut up! Shut up! Just shut the fuck up!" Clem yelled at him,moving Gabe against a nearby tree and standing him up to get a better shot at his foot.

Gabe still tried to resist, "Just go Clem! I'm not worth it! I won't let you see me as one of them!" Gabe said, putting his hands on her shoulders and trying to push her away.

Clementine kissed him, "And I won't let you die." She said softy as she pulled away.

Gabe was stunned from the kiss and her determination,Clementine still wasn't giving up on him even though he was likely to die. "She truly does love me." He thought bracing himself for the hit.

Gabe closed his eyes, "Do it." He said gritting his teeth and standing with his back against the tree.

Clem raised the hatchet again, "No matter what happens, I want you to know that I love you ,Gabe." She said tears in her eyes as she got positioned.

"I love you too, Clem." Gabe said as she swung down.
