Tony Stark was working in his lab with Bruce Banner in Stark Tower, deeply focused on the alien element they were examining. For the last few hours the two men had been solely concentrated at the task at hand, trying to figure out what the new element was and what it could be used for. Banner jumped slightly when the lab door suddenly opened but Stark barely noticed it.

Miss Pepper Potts walked in, who had just a few weeks earlier been named CEO of Stark Industries after previously working as Stark's assistant. She looked stressed, even worried, and since this wasn't a common look for her Bruce lightly slapped Tony's arm.

"What?" He asked, annoyed at the interruption. Bruce merely pointed to Pepper who was now approaching their table, holding up a tablet towards them. They could see news footage of a few streets downtown, or what was left of it at least.

"You need to get to Midtown Manhattan right now. Someone has been wreaking havoc down there and doesn't seem to want to stop. There are several wounded, and it's a miracle no one has died yet."

Tony glaced at the tablet before looking back at his work. "Havoc seems to be a bit below our paygrade, don't you think? I'm sure the police can handle it. Come back with another alien invasion, or something."

Pepper rolled her eyes but Bruce intervened, saying timidly, "Maybe we should go? The news are saying it's only one person, so we could easily take care of it before someone is seriously hurt."

Tony gave the other man a betrayed look. But meeting Pepper's angry glare he realised it would be less effort to comply and quickly deal with this person than to start an argument with her that he would probably lose.

"Fine", He walked to the far back of the lab where his suits were neatly lined up. "But if I'm going I want everyone who's here right now to come with me. I can't be doing all the work all the time."

Pepper rolled her eyes. "I've already alerted them, they're getting ready. Everyone except Thor. Dr Banner, why don't you go to his room and see what he's doing?"

Bruce looked caught off guard by her request and as she started walking out of the room he tried to protest, "Oh, eh, sure I could do that. Or maybe I should stay here? You know, the other guy will probably not come in handy out there so maybe you should try calling Thor again or—"

Pepper interrupted him as she pushed the door open, shouting back before walking out of the lab, "Thank you, dr Banner!"

Bruce looked at Tony. "What does that mean? Will she call Thor again? Can I stay here...?"

"That means 'Thank you for doing as you're told'. You better go get Thor, unless you want to make Pepper angry", Tony said, playfully raising his eyebrows twice at the other man who seemed to get a bit pale.

Bruce hurried to Thor's assigned room in Stark Tower, knocking rapidly. Thor opened the door dressed merely in trousers, his messy hair and half-lidded eyes revealing that he had been sleeping. Bruce furrowed his brows at this, since it was the middle of the afternoon, but chose to let it go.

"You need to get dressed and come with me, someone is downtown wreaking havoc", Bruce told the other man, who was rubbing his eyes.

Thor poorly stifled a yawn. "Is it Loki?"

Bruce stared at him. "Um, no. Loki has been on our side for... well longer than he ever has been before at least. We don't know who it is."

Thor straightened his back but his eyes seemed to struggle to stay open. "You don't know who it is? Then it could be Loki!"

Loki, who had been eavesdropping, suddenly materialised beside Bruce and startled him. "I am right here brother. Believe me, if I were to be wreaking havoc you'd know it was me."

"He—he's got a point", Bruce said, still recovering from Loki frightening him, "Hey, maybe you can come too Loki? We could use the help."

Loki observed him for a moment, then drawled, "I'm sure that you can handle it. After all, my heroic and vigilant brother will be assisting you."

They both looked back at Thor, who seemed to have fallen back into sleep leaning on the doorframe. He startled awake when Bruce carefully nudged his arm. "Yes, yes I'm awake! I'll get dressed and then we will fight Loki."

He looked up and seemed surprised to see Loki standing there, scratched his head and continued, "I mean, the person responsible for this."

Loki rolled his eyes and sighed heavily, before leaving them.

Thor yawned again, not bothering trying to hide it this time. "So, when will we take care of this evildoer? Tomorrow, or...?" He looked hopeful.

"No, Thor, now!" Bruce said, getting a bit frustrated.

"Fine, fine. I will get ready", Thor said, waving his big hands around in the air a bit. He stepped back into his room and slammed the door shut. Banner stood still for a moment, unsure whether his job here was done of if they were expecting him to come with them downtown.

He stared at the closed door, chewing the inside of his cheek, before deciding they could deal with this without him and he would be more useful staying in the lab continuing to examine the alien substance. Pleased with his plan he walked back to the lab which Tony Stark was just leaving, wearing his Iron Man suit.
