Thursday went by fast as I said it would. Now it was Friday at 8:00 and in two hours I would be at my old house with my mother. It would be nice seeing my house but not my mother.

I rolled out of bed to go take a shower. I didn't want to but I knew I had to. Not getting out of bed wouldn't change the fact that I was going to my mother's. It would only make us late and no one wanted that.

I stayed in the shower for as long as humanly possible, taking my sweet time doing the easiest tasks. Finally when the water turned cold I turned off the shower and climbed out.

Wrapped in a towel, I headed back into the room to change. Today's yellow accessory: a scrunchie along with my white T-shirt and overalls. Once I'm changed , go back to the restroom to dry my hair and have braided my hair I go back into the room to wake up Alex.

"Alex. It's time to wake up." I say shaking her arm

"I don't want to go." Alex says

"I'll take away your Switch when we get home." I say

She boosts up out of bed and runs to the bathroom. I chuckle to myself. She could never survive without her Nintendo switch. So it was a surprise to me when she left it at home.

I look over and see Susie still soundly sleeping. I felt nervous about leaving her in the care of Niko, Devin, Awsten and Otto. The original three: Geoff, Alex and I would be going to see our mother.

When Alex returned with wet hair and a towel I turned around so she could get changed. After a few minutes and she had told me I could turn back around I saw that she was changed into a marine animal t-shirt and jeans.

"I'm so not ready to go." Alex says

"Neither am I." I say

"So then let's not go." She says

"As much as I'd like to we can't. Geoff already promised mom." The word felt strange on my tongue when I'm talking about our other mom

"Should we wake her up?" Alex says nodding towards Susie

"I'll let Niko and Devin do that." I say

"Are you two ready?" I look over to see Geoff at the doorway leaning against the door post

"Almost. But we still have an hour and a half before we are meeting with her." I say

"I thought we could stop somewhere for breakfast first." Geoff suggests

"If you're talking about that diner we used to to when I was younger I'm in. I loved that place." I say

"That's just the place I was suggesting we go to." Geoff says with a smile

"Great. I've forgotten how much I loved that place." I say

"I think old Tom still works there." Geoff says

"You mean the same one who used to do magic tricks." I say surprised

"The very same." Geoff says

"Yay! I used to love those." I say

"I think Harriet still works there too." He says

Harriet was a kind waitress who could get you a free dessert if you were nice enough. She was also a very good listener and would often take a break if it wasn't too busy to stop and chat with you.

"I can't wait to see them." I say

"If they are there today that is." Geoff says

I grab my phone and Alex grabs hers. Together, along with Geoff, we walk across the yard to the main house. Once we are there we hang around inside.

"Are you sure you are ok with helping Niko and Devin watch Susie?" I ask Awsten still nervous about leaving my littlest sister alone

"I'm fine with it. Don't be so nervous." Awsten says

"You remember she's allergic to peanuts right?" I ask making sure

"Yes I know. Stop worrying." Putting his hands on my shoulders I'm forced to look into his eyes. Once I do this I take a deep breathe and relax. He smiles at this accomplishment and promptly removes his hands.

"If we want to have enough time to eat we're going to have to leave now." Geoff says

"Fine fine." Alex says

Alex and I grab our phones while Geoff grabs his car keys. Together we walk out the car and get in. I was seated in the passenger seat and Alex was seated behind Geoff.

"Alright lets go!" Geoff says

He starts the car and then we are on our way. We had quite a bit of a drive since the diner was up near our old house. I was excited to go back to that diner. I have always had good memories of that place. Even after we had moved away.

I remember a time when I went to the diner with Geoff, Awsten, and Otto (with Otto's mother supervising of course). We had all gotten chocolate milk and Otto spilled it all over his shirt. The rest of us giggled like a bunch of idiots.

The car stops and I'm pulled out of the memory. The small diner looked like it had when I was younger. It still had its small cottage vibe. It's big sign saying John's Diner wasn't lit up like it usually was. The diner still had its green door and box flowers underneath the windows.

"It looks nice enough." Alex says

"It's a good place I promise." I say

We all climb out of the car and walk into the diner. Soon I am hit with a wave of familiar smells. Geoff walks off to find a booth and we follow him.

Once seated we are greeted by a girl with blonde hair.

"Hi there! What can I get you?" She asks

"Three milks please." Alex says

"Got it!" She says enthusiastically

She walks away and I turn to face my brother. He's giving me this weird grin. What is he thinking about?

"What?" I ask

"Remember when he came here with Awsten and Otto?" He asks

"I was just thinking about that time in the car." I say

"Three milks?" The girl has reappeared with our milks

She sets them down on the table and gets out her notepad to take our orders. I already knew what I wanted. It was what I got every time I went there.

"The three stack of chocolate chips pancakes please." I say closing my menu and giving it back to her

"I'll have eggs and hash browns." Alex says handing back her own menu

"I'll just have eggs." Geoff says and he too hands back his menu

"Coming right up." Our waitress says and runs off to put in our orders

I turn to look around at the place. The same blue colored boots and hanging lamps were exactly were they always had been. Old movie pictures decorated the walls. I had watched many of the movies that had posters hanging in the diner.

"Is that Madeline Wigington?" Someone says

I turn to see and older black woman standing next to our table. Her black hair was hanging down and she wore the standard blue waitress uniform.
