Chapter 12: Prom night

I wake up to the sound of someone knocking on my door. "Y/n, we have to leave in half an hour so you better start getting ready" I hear Natasha yell from the hallway.

Tonight is prom night. I'm kind of excited but also really nervous. Wanda and Natasha will help me get ready because I have no idea how to do my makeup. In half an hour we'll leave to try on some dresses. I get up from my bed and slowly walk to the bathroom. I quickly hop in the shower, put my hair in a messy bun and put on some ripped jeans with a sweater. When I get downstairs to eat breakfast I find some of the avengers sitting in front of the tv.

"What are you guys watching" I say while walking into the kitchen and putting some cereal in my bowl.

"We're watching a documentary about this lovely planet" Thor booms enthusiastically. Thor really loves the earth, he's so passionate about nature and everything involved with it.

"Are you excited for prom tonight" Tony asks while turning around on the couch to look at me.

"I'm excited but also really nervous" I answer his question. I walk to the fridge and open it to get some milk for my cereal before hopping onto the couch to watch tv.

After ten minutes I finish my breakfast and Wanda, Natasha and I are getting ready to leave.

"Bye boys, we'll be back in a few hours" Natasha yells at the men watching tv.

A little while later you arrive at the shop. "I think we'll find you a nice dress here" Wanda says as we walk towards the doors. When we enter I see this massive space in front of me, it's filled with the most beautiful dresses in all shapes and colours. We wander through the shop, pick out two dresses and head to the dressing rooms. Natasha and Wanda sit outside my dressing room and wait for me to try on the dresses.

The first dress is scarlet and knee-high. When I step out of the dressing room Natasha and Wanda look at me with amazed faces. "You look gorgeous" Wanda says while walking up to me, "scarlet looks really good on you" she smiles.

Natasha comes walking up to me too "I didn't know dresses looked that good on you girl, you're rocking it" she spoke warmly "now try on the second dress".

I step back into the dressing room and try on the next dress. This dress is long and has a turquoise colour.

I feel like a princess These dresses are so elegant.

I once again step out of the dressing room, Natasha and Wanda are in a deep conversation. I clear my throat to get their attention. "That dress looks stunning on you" Natasha says "the colour really suits you".

"How am I supposed to choose between these dresses?" I question "what do you think?"

"I like the first one more" Wanda answers "it has a beautiful colour and it accentuates your figure".

"Well" Natasha interrupts her "I think the second dress is cuter" she turns to me and says "the second dress is way more elegant and I think turquoise suits you better than scarlet".

A few minutes and a discussion later, I decide to take the d/c dress. "Thanks for helping out girls" I say as we head to the cash desk. "Wait I don't have any money" I mutter.

"Don't worry, Tony gave me his credit card so we could technically buy this entire store" Natasha smirks at me. I hand her the dress and she pays for it before we head back home.

That evening Natasha and Wanda help me get ready for my first prom. "We're going for a look that lets your natural beauty shine through" Wanda smiles at me while putting eyeshadow on my eyelids "I'm sure Peter will love that".

"Yes, I think I'm going to do something classic and elegant with your hair" Natasha says, she stands behind and puts some product in my hair.

Half an hour later Natasha and Wanda are done with my hair and makeup and help me get into my dress. "I'm glad you chose this dress, it looks really good on you" Wanda says affectionately while stroking my dress to feel the fabric.

"I agree, you look stunning" Natasha agrees while looking at me like a proud mom.

We head downstairs and I see Peter waiting for me in the living room, he's talking to Thor and Tony. Thor bursts out in laughter and pets Peter on the back a little bit too hard, Peter laughs at him awkwardly before turning around to see me. His jaw drops "you... you look so beautiful". I blush as he walks up to me to give me the corsage, he also plants a quick kiss on my cheek. "Let's go, Happy is waiting for us in the car".

"Not so fast young man" Tony interrupts, "I need a picture of my two favourite children going to prom for the first time so pose for me will ya?" Peter and I stand next to each other as Tony takes a picture of us "come on you guys, get a little closer" Tony encourages us so we do as he says and get the perfect prom picture.

"Now we really have to leave" Peter speaks and we head towards the car where Happy is waiting for us.

"Bye kiddo's" Tony yells joyful while waving at us. Natasha and Wanda smile at me and give me a thumbs up when Happy pulls up.

A little ride later we arrive at Peter's highschool. "This is where we first met right?" Peter inquires while pointing at a bench in the middle of the schoolyard.

"Yes it is" I answer with a smile on my face "that was the happiest moment I had in a while". Peter takes my hand and we walk towards the entrance. As soon as we step inside the booming music reaches my ears. I look at Peter and he squeezes my hand to comfort me. We make our way to Peter's friends, Ned greets us and does some kind of handshake with Peter. I also see a girl with curly brown hair.

"Hey, I'm MJ" she yells to overrule the loud music "nice to meet you".

"I'm Y/n" I respond, also yelling "nice to meet you too" I smile at MJ and she smiles back at me. Then Peter takes my hand and drags me onto the dance floor, Ned and MJ join us and we start dancing like four idiots.

A little while later MJ and I stand around a table, Ned and Peter are fixing us a drink. I see girl staring at us with her electric blue eyes but when she notices me staring back at her she quickly looks away. Ned and Peter arrive with our drinks and we chat and enjoy each others company for a while.

By the end of the evening, a slow song comes over the speakers. Peter smiles at me and asks me "May I have this dance?"

I smile back at Peter "of course" I say as we step out on the dancefloor. Peter puts his hand on my lower back and I put my head on his chest. We sway to the music together, so peaceful and like nothing can break us apart.
