Bright light shone through your window which woke you up. It was Sunday, and a gorgeous day outside. You had no work or uni on a Sunday, the one day you had all to yourself, your favourite day. You were usually in a good mood on Sundays but not today. You were groggy and your head ached. Slowly, you got out of bed. Before heading to the kitchen to make some breakfast to hopefully make you feel a little better, you fed Dexter. You smiled as he ate. He made you happy. He was your little friend who kept you company in your lonely flat. Your breakfast definitely helped. You felt a lot better. However, you still felt shaken up. You weren't sure why until you remembered the events of last night. The whole thing made you feel awful again. But you remembered how afterwards Herbert chased after you just to apologise and even drove you home. He shouldn't even have attacked you like that in the first place, you thought. You remembered how he walked you to your door and then held your hand, apologising once again. You could almost feel the warmth of his hand in yours just now. You saw a side to Herbert you hadn't been able to see before. A more human side to him. There was more to him than just being cold hearted and emotionless. Maybe after everything you were getting somewhere with getting to know him better and starting over. Maybe something like this had to happen in order to get to this side of him. Hmmm, you pondered. Suddenly, your phone rang. "Hello?" you said. "(Y/n) it's me" it was Dan. You forgot to call him, you felt bad. "Are you okay? What was last night all about?" he questioned, he sounded very concerned and he had every right to be. "God, I'm sorry I didn't call you. Listen, last night was nothing serious, it's just..." you paused not knowing what to say. You didn't really want to explain what happened, you just wanted to keep it in the past. "I went to check on Herbert and we got into a dumb argument and I got upset so I left. He tried to apologise to me but I was too angry to listen. That was all. I'm sorry for worrying you and Megan, I really am I feel awful. But everything's fine now." You explained, only telling a half truth. "Oh." Dan replied. "Well as long you're okay that's all that matters. You're sure everything is alright?" He asked. "I promise, I'm okay." You confirmed. "Alright then. Hey listen, Meg and I are going out to the park today since it's so nice out. You're welcome to come along." That sounded like a nice idea. You wanted to get out the house and enjoy your Sunday, not letting anything get in your way. "I'd like that" you said with a smile. "Cool, I'll get you in an hours time." Dan confirmed with you. "Is Herbert going?" You asked suddenly. Why did you ask that? You really didn't know. "No. I asked him but he said he had no time for galivanting." Dan replied, a little confused as to why you wanted him to come after last night. Honestly, you were confused too. A little part of you was disappointed he wasn't going actually.
After finishing up your conversation with Dan, you got washed and ready. Since it was so nice out you picked your favourite summer outfit. You felt cute actually. You packed a bag and waited for Dan to come get you. Soon enough you heard a knock at the door. "Hey" Dan and Meg said with a smile as you opened the door. "Hey" you smiled back locking the door behind you. The three of you exited your flat and got into Dans car. With that yous drove off. The park was about a 15 minute drive from here. You went there often with your textbooks or a sketchbook. Despite medicine being your passion, you did enjoy doing a bit of art here and there, especially at the park. There was always gorgeous flowers and sites to sketch as well tons of different people to study. It was a past time you thoroughly enjoyed. "You look really nice today (y/n)" Meg complimented you from the passenger seat. "Thanks" you smiled. "So do you". Soon enough you got to the park. You picked a spot on the grass to sit and Dan placed a blanket down for you all to sit on. The park was buzzing today. Kids ran round in fits of laughter, teenagers lay on the grass sun bathing listening to their music much to the adults distaste. Couples strolled together hand in hand. This was the type of energy you couldn't get enough of. People just outside living life without a care in the world. It brought a sense of freedom to you. You felt so relaxed in that moment and any worries you had earlier had now disappeared. Dan and Megan sat back together taking in the suns waves of heat, arms round one another. Smiling, you left them to it. You took out your sketchbook feeling full of inspiration all of a sudden. You sketched the people that were sitting in front of you. They were so full of life and you just couldn't help yourself. People may have found your actions strange, drawing people without them knowing, but you didn't care. There was something about the way humans interacted with one another that just fascinated you. It got you thinking about last night with Herbert. The way he acted so gentle after scaring you so badly just confused you so much. It made you wonder if he really hated you or if it was all just for show. God what was his deal. You sketched a couple more things before Dan and Megan peeped over your shoulder to see what you were drawing. People watching you draw made you feel really uneasy and put you off. Closing over your book you joined in on the conversation and ate some lunch. Dan and Meg brought a picnic basket full of nice little snacks. They all tasted so good. "Do you know where Herbert got to last night (y/n)?" Dan asked. You were surprised that the conversation had gotten onto the topic of him. "He gave me a lift back home." You replied, swallowing your food. "Really?" Megan questioned, a little surprised. You nodded in response. Dan laughed lightly. "Honestly, I think you see more of Herbert than I do and I live with the guy!" Dan exclaimed. You laughed with him but it got you thinking. The conversation moved swiftly onwards and you were back to casual chatting. You sipped on your ice cold cola and laughed with the couple. This was bliss you thought. Honestly your Sunday couldn't have gone any better. You were so glad you hadn't spent it cooped up inside. Time flew by and soon enough it was 5 o'clock. The three of you decided to go out for dinner and then go back to Dans place. Your food was great and you had a wonderful time. Honestly, you couldn't have had a nicer time with Dan and Megan, you loved them so much and you were so glad you had friends as nice as them. A couple hours later you had finished your meal and were driving back to Dans apartment. You had to admit you were a little nervous. You weren't sure if you wanted to see Herbert just yet but at the same time you really wanted to let him know that you accepted his apology and that you were willing to put it behind you.
