ARTIST IN TRAINING

I came up with this poem one day in Art class. We were writing about our theme, which is artist in training, so I wrote the poem out of boredom. But this poem means something special to me. It means don't give up so fast. There is a lot to live for in this life. I recently turned 15, and I have already had my heart broken. But I have good friends who will be there for me. I'm only a freshman and my life is really just beginning. So I need to live it, every last moment.

The paint brush is mine
To have and to hold
As I stare at the canvas
I let my story unfold
I work on my drawing
I dare not cease
If I lose faith
I step back and breathe
No matter how hard
Or tough times get
I'm the artist in training
And I'm not finished yet
