After the incident with her father, she was fed up. She needed to get her and her mother to the surface. Where things would hopefully be better. As the two of them ate dinner, they were silent. Ailani simply poking at her food.
"Mom.. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to spaz out, but when he hit you-"
"I understand. And thank you, for standing up for your poor mother. You're a wonderful daughter Ailani.. What would I do without you..?"
The woman said as she reached over and brushed her child's hair out of her face. A small smile, but tears running down her cheeks. Ailani shook her head and did the same, wiping those droplets of water. Dinner finished, and the two went to bed. They slept together. Neither of the females wanting to be alone. Hugged close to one another, their breathing the only noise in the home.

The next day, the house was silent. The mother of the house sleeping, night having come around far too fast. But that teenager was up and about. She pulled on a pair of combat boots and her usual hoodie. She left a note for her mother.
Dear Mom,
I'm going to find some people that can help us get out of here. I'll be back later next morning. Don't worry about me.
Love, Ailani. The note was placed onto the table, and she ran out into the night. Her footsteps stomping through the material of her city. Going to that house she found the trio of thugs. They had to help her.
She pounded her fist against the door, hoping for an answer. When she heard footsteps, she backed up a little. Seeing it was the blonde boy who opened the door for her. She couldn't help but smile. When she was invited in, she wrapped her arms around herself. The other two looking up from their places on the couch.
"So.. I need you to teach me everything you know. How to survive on my own, how to use the gear. Everything."
They looked at the girl with blank expressions. Before the ravenette scoffed, looking away while he crossed one leg over the other. Without a response, she felt defeated almost.
"I'm.. Sorry. I know this was really sudden. But I can't stay here. I need a way to get my mother and I out of here."
That clicked. The trio looked at each other one by one. Each of them stood, and gave her a smile. Well, Farlan and Isabel did. Levi stayed seated while gazing off somewhere.
It all began just like that.
Everyday, they taught Ailani what she needed. They had gotten pretty close. She considered them her friends. And she even got Levi to start warming up to her. That's how she knew, she was getting to know them better. Levi loved black tea. He lived with his Uncle for a while. That man taught him everything he knew. In a way she was grateful.

Weeks had passed. About three. Nearly a month, and Ailani already had made an impression. Now everyone knew her. People knew her before, but even the big people knew about her. It was official. She was apart of that little trio, now a quartet. They were together nearly all the time. Except for when Ailani went home to give her mother supplies and maybe spend the night.
A firm pat on her back, woke her out of her daze. Looking at the red headed girl.
"Yes, Isabel?"
"I told you to call me Izzy! Besides, I call you big sis, so it's only fair."
True. They all had gotten so close in a short amount of time, they were like a little family. Realizing that, brought a smile to Ailani's face. She never told any of them what went down with her family. But she thought it was about time.
"Anyways.. Aniki wants us to all go sit on the roof of our spot."
"Alright, I'm coming. Gimme a minute."
The girl nodded and walked off. Ailani begun to scale the side of the building with ease and disappearing. The other lone female, sighed softly. She was actually happy. For the first time since her father left, she's been doing good. That same smile on her face and she moved from her post and skillfully made her way up the building. Seeing the original three. She took up a spot next to Farlan and sighed again. It was night, but you could never tell Underground. Just the same. But she knew.
"Too bad we can't see the sky. Or the sun from down here."
She heard the blonde young man say next to her. She thought for a little bit and then popped right back up. Looking down at them with the biggest smile she's ever worn around them.
"Actually, my ruffy haired friend. We can. Get your gear. It's pretty far. And follow me."
Before she could get a response, she ran to edge of the building and hopped off. Dashing into the room to get her gear on. Hearing footsteps and her friends coming in after her.
The sound of wires zoomed through the air, and has releasing. She led the group pretty far away. Til she landed. And right above her. A large hole, showing the starry sky and the moonlight pouring in. When her group came along, she pointed upwards. And seeing the amazement on their faces was something she'll never forget. She chuckled lightly, only to yelp when she was tackled down by Isabel.
They spent the rest of the night there. Talking. Telling stories. What they wanted to do with their lives. Dreams and plans. It was nice. It was all she could ever wish for. Things like that she would always remember. The good times. The calm times. She didn't do much talking. Just listening to Isabel ramble while they all sat under the moonlight.
Peaceful. Something she wished that could always be like this. Nothing but good days here on out.
Or so she thought.
