(This story I had randomly got the inspiration to write. I wrote it early in the morning with a lack of sleep, so If I made some mistakes, I'm sorry and will try to fix them. One more thing I would like to address is that I will be picking out your outfit. I personally hate it when the author choses the readers outfit, because it might be something you don't want to wear, but for this story in particular it's important that I chose. Sorry nuggets. That being said, this is also not really an x reader, more like a reader insert...you'll see. Enjoy!)

"Bye mom! I'm going for a walk, see you later!" I call out to my mother in hopes she can hear me.

"Be safe! Love you!" Hearing a faint voice call back to me from down the hallway, I smile.

"Love you too!" I shout, before walking out my front door.

It was a nice evening. Cloudy and warm, still feeling damp from the rain, earlier today. To me this was perfect. Most people tend to stay inside on these types of days and I took comfort in knowing I wouldn't be bothered during my walk. We lived at the edge of a relatively small town, right beside a large forest. Said forest was my favorite place to take walks and explore, another thing most people would not do. There were news reports of people going missing, mostly children and curious young adults. I, on the otherhand, knew my way around in a small portion of the forest and alwasy took precautions. I knew I was safe.

My hand fell to the inside of my red hoodies pocket and dug around. The cool feeling of my dagger brushed against my fingers. I inwardly sighed, happy having remembered to bring it. I got to the entrance of the forest, excitement bubbling within me. Today was the day I go a bit deeper that usual. Going around the same places over and over, got boring and I was ready for a change of scenery.

After walking for a bit, the trees started to get closer together and almost seemingly taller. The area was growing darker as well and I knew I was beginning to trek into newer territory. I slipped my hand once more into my hoodie pocket and grasped onto my dagger. My eyes checking every bit of my surroundings.

I had to be cautious, new places were bad, you never knew what could be lurking. The cracking of a branch could be heard just a little ways from me. My head snapped in the direction of the sound. Blood pumping hard and loud in my brain. Suddenly a small creature scattered up a tree. It was only a squirrel. I laughed at my paranoia and turned around.

Deciding I had explored enough and was beginning to get tired, I began my journey home. I took my first step in the direction of my house, only for something sharp and large wiz past my head. My eyes widened as I was startled. Inbeaded in a tree right in front of me was a rusted hatchet. My heart dropped at the sight and I felt something warm drip down my cheek. I didn't have to see it to know I was bleeding, the cut stung. As quick as I could, I turned back in the direction it came from. In front of me were 3 figures.

Judging by they're build, they were all male. I noticed one was wearing a white mask, with black features. Beside him was a man wearing a dark mustard colored hoodie and seemed to wear a black mask with red eyes and a frown. The last man was obviously the one who threw the hatchet. One of his arms were still outstretched, while the other had a similar, yet not as rusted, hatchet. His face was covered with a mouth guard and a pair of orange goggles.

I didn't have time to analyze the group any further, before goggles decided to raise his other hatchet. Panic began to set in once more as I quickly turned on my heel and ran.

For once I was happy to be blessed with the abilty to run fast, even if it for a short time. I booked it past trees and rocks, the ever pounding sound of footfalls behind me. I knew I would begin to tire and that sooner or later they would catch up to me. I also knew that I wouldn't be able to lose them within the trees while I basicaly had a giant red target on my back.

Think...I had to play this smart and figure a way to lose them...fast.

I decided to start with my hoodie and take it off. I grabbed my dagger and while holding onto it, slipped my hooding off, revealing the (y/f/c) tanktop I had on.

The group was finally a bit further behind me, I only had this one chance. I placed the dagger in my mouth and waded my hoodie into a ball. Throwing the ball far out to my left and then practically throwing myself up the tree to my right after grabbing a medium sized rock. I did my best to hide myself among the braches and leaves and then to quiet my breathing. I waited.

Eventually the 3 men made their way to where I was. They reduced their pace and looked around, shortly spotting my red hoodie. The one with the white mask got closer to the discarded cloth and signaled something to the other two. I took my chance while they had their backs turned and hurled the rock I grabbed as far as I could, in the other direction. Their heads twisted to the direction of the rock and they began to run that way.

I waited for a bit before letting out a breath I didn't even realize I was holding in. My heart was beating so fast, I felt sick from the encounter. After resting a few minutes, I decided it would be best to climb down and get home as fast as I could, before the trio came back.

I lit up at the sight of my dull grey house. I made it. I'm alive and home. Almost in a daze I made my way inside. My mom was now stationed at the stove, making dinner. I closed the door and shuffled over to her, wrapping my arms around her frame.

"Oh!" She gasped out, slightly suprised.

"Welcome back." She laughed.

I didn't say anything as I continued to hug her. She look down at me in concern.

"Is everthing alright?" I nodded and continued to hug her. I felt her pat the top of my head and sigh.

"I'm almost done with dinner, if you want to wait at the table" I nodded once more and let go.

As I sat at the kitchen table, I peered out the window at the forest. I could have sworn that for a spit second I saw three figures at the edge, but I blinked and they were gone. One thing's for sure...I won't be going back in there for a long while.

(I would love feedback on how you thought I did, but please keep any criticism as constructive. Thats all for now my little nuggets! Until next time 💖
