My Best Friend's Brother

Chapter 1

It's the summer before senior year.

Samantha, her best friend Renee, Renee's brother Tristan and their parent's Sonya and John are at their cabin in LA. Renee's parents own the cabin and they go there, every summer before the new school year starts. However, this year is different. It's different because Tristan is going off to College for 4 years to study sports. 

The week goes fast and it's their last night in the cabin until next summer. Renee is full of a fever and nausea. Samantha is looking after Renee to keep her distracted. Renee is sleeping so Samantha heads downstairs to finish reading her book. Although, this doesn't last long because Tristan is forever walking in front of her and distracting her.

'Tristan, what do you want?' Samantha asks. 'I was wondering if you wanted to come to the lake with me for a bit since Renee can't.' He replies. Samantha blushes and closes her book. 'But that's yours and Renee's thing. I can't just intrude in it.' Samantha replies hesitantly. 'Just come with me. It'll be fun.' Tristan says with a grin. 'Fine. I'll meet you outside in 5 minutes.' Samantha says.

Samantha heads upstairs and notices that Renee is still sleeping. 'I hope Renee doesn't find out' Samantha thinks to herself whilst changing into her swimming outfit. Samantha changes and grabs a towel to wrap around her. She heads downstairs and goes outside to find Tristan sitting on the porch stairs. 

Tristan turns around and looks at Samantha with wide eyes. 'Come and sit down before we go.' He says. Samantha does as he says and sits next to him. 'You know, Samantha, ever since you've been coming on these trips with us, you get hotter every time. It's almost as if you're teasing me.' Tristan says with a wink. 'Tristan, don't flatter yourself. I'm not doing anything. I'm growing and changing and so are you. You're going to college in 2 weeks and I'm going into Senior year. You'll forget about me once you get to College.' Samantha replies. 'I'm not flattering myself. I know I'm going to College in 2 weeks which is why I want to spend tonight with you before I go.' Tristan replies with a smirk on his face.

Samantha stands up and starts walking towards the lake. Tristan follows and walks close to Samantha. They arrive at the lake and Tristan runs towards it, leaving him to jump into the freezing cold water. Samantha continues walking and sits on the edge of the walkway, dipping her feet into the lake. 'Jump in, Samantha.' Tristan shouts. 'Um, no thanks. I'm good just sitting here.' Samantha shouts back. 'It's not deep, I promise. It just sits on my hips.' Tristan replies as he's swimming back. 'Fine, I'll get in the freezing cold water.' Samantha says as she slips into the lake. 

Samantha however, can't swim which leads her to almost drowning. Tristan quickly swims to her rescue and brings her to the surface by putting his arms around her waist. Samantha immediately gets out of the lake and wraps the towel around her. 'You said it wasn't deep.' Samantha says to Tristan with an angry tone. 'I was standing on a branch. I'm sorry.' Tristan replies with his puppy dog eyes. 'You're forgiven.' Samantha replies. 

Tristan sits next to Samantha on the walkway and places her head on his shoulder to warm her up. 'I'm glad I invited you to come here with me tonight.' Tristan says as they're looking at the stars. 'Yeah, me too I guess. It's been nice to get away from Renee for a little while.' Samantha replies.

Twenty minutes pass and they're lying on the walkway. Samantha is lying flat whereas Tristan is lying on his elbow. 'Samantha, can I kiss you?' Tristan asks. 'Um, are you sure?' Samantha replies with butterflies in her stomach. 'Yes. I'm sure.' Tristan replies, leaning in to Samantha. 

This was it. The moment that Samantha had been waiting for. Tristan places his soft lips onto Samantha's. Samantha pulls away as she hears girl's laughter coming towards them. Tristan lies down on the walkway and Samantha slowly stands up whilst wrapping the towel around her. She starts to walk away when Tristan says 'Where are you going?' Samantha turns around and says 'I need to go and check on Renee. She's in the cabin by herself.' 'Hold on. I'll walk back with you. I'm not letting you walk back by yourself.' Tristan replies. Tristan stands up and they start walking back to the cabin. 

They arrive back at the cabin but before they head inside, Tristan kisses Samantha. 'What was that for?' Samantha asks. 'It's a goodnight and goodbye kiss. I'm not going to see you for god knows how long so that's how I'm saying goodbye.' Tristan replies as he heads inside.' Samantha just stands outside frozen before snapping back into reality and walking in behind Tristan. 

While Tristan heads back down to his room, he leaves his door open and winks at Samantha. 'Maybe he wants me to go down there to do something.' Samantha thinks to herself. Instead of following her thoughts, she heads upstairs to check on Renee. 'Hey, where'd you go?' Renee asks. 'I just went to the lake for a little swim.' Samantha replies. 'But you can't swim, babe' Renee says with a confused look. 'I didn't exactly go for a swim, I just went for a little dip and to look at the stars.' Samantha replies. 'Oh, okay.' Renee says as she walks back to her bed. 

Samantha changes into her pyjamas and gets into bed but she can't get Tristan out of her head. She had her first kiss with Tristan. The boy she's liked since she was 13. Samantha gets lost in her trail of thoughts and goes to sleep.
