[sorry for the mistakes]
𝐁ROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
SEPTEMBER 8th, 1989I ran downstairs with urgency.
I didn't even tell my mom or my dad about the party.
It was 7:00pm, the party started in another hour. But I wasn't really focused on getting there on time because black people don't ever go the exact time.
I was going to get there around 9pm.
I made it down the stairs, and I looked at the doorknob. My mom was currently coming inside from work and I let out a sigh of relief.
Although I love my father, if i was to ask him about this party... he would go ballistic. He would automatically say no.
My mom on the other hand, would ask a few questions and then give me a look as if she wants me to rethink my decision. But I never really rethink anything so she'll most likely say something like if anything happens it's on me. She'll eventually urge to yes.
My mom entered inside the house I gave her a huge smile.
I needed to start off the interaction on a good note.
"Hey mom!" I say, going up to her and hugging her.
I could feel she was uncomfortable because I rarely hug any of my parents and I'm not a really expressive person when it comes to showing affection.
She hugged me back put pulled away.
"What do you want?" She asks and I furrow my eyebrows.
"I cant hug my wonderful mother?" I say and she stares at me.
She gave me the death stare and I honestly gave in.
I let out a deep sigh and I rubbed my face.
"So.. there's a party tonight. You know those back to school parties. And I got invited by a friend and I just wanted to know if I can go." I say slowly and she tilts her head.
"Ok you can go." She says and I pause.
This is definitely not like her.
She didn't ask me any questions, she didn't give me a look, she didn't say anything about me being responsible for anything that happens... she just said yes.
