CHAPTER 7: PREY IN THE TRAP

PARKER'S POV:

I stood by the road waiting for Pearl. If twenty-four hours ago, someone told me I would end up being Pearl's girlfriend, I would have undoubtedly laughed in out on their face. What seemed to be a joke just one day back, seemed to be my life today. I stared down at the Pharyngeal Arches drawing in my copybook and unconsciously touched my lips.  I could not help but think how I had been kissed yesterday. 

Pearl's lips felt so soft against mine, so did his hands which cupped my face. I was taken aback when Pearl suddenly slammed his lips against mine. For some moments, I had no idea how to react. I just froze, but as my eyes fell on Kyle, who had his mouth shaped in an "O", I pushed Pearl away. What I thought was a forceful push from my side did not even cause Pearl to budge, but definitely made him realise that I was trying to get him off me and he ended the kiss. He took my hand into his hand and looked me in the eyes. 

"You no longer have to hide anything. Let's just tell them the truth. Guys, Park and I have been going out for quite sometime now and we love each other a lot." Pearl said in the sweetest voice and as he completed his statement, he wound his arm around my waist and dropped another kiss on my lips. 

I do not think I could use any other word to encapsulate all the feelings I was experiencing at that moment. Like everyone else standing here, I was certainly shocked, but my anger was also at its peak. Just as I was about to speak, Bonnie exclaimed:

"Park! How can you do this to us? How can you hide this from us? And especially me? I thought we were best of friends."

" Bonnie! we would have told you guys earlier, but we were still in the process of discovering each other! Everything happened so fast and amidst so much of confusion that we thought it would be better to wait for the right moment before we went public about us being together." explained Pearl in the most diligent way possible, that it felt as if he had been reciting these lines for days now. 

"Confusion my ass! What about me then?" snarled Kelly 

"Listen Kelly! We have always been friends and we will always never be more than friends." said Pearl in a stern tone. The tone of his voice clearly reflected his anger and no patience left to deal with Kelly. 

"I guess we all do not want to create any scene here, let's mean at the dungeon tomorrow." 

With that being said, Pearl grabbed hands and pulled me with him. I was too dumbstruck to even talk or present any kind of explanation to my friends. Not to mention, Bonnie's glares were like daggers piercing my heart, she would definitely command for a serious explanation for why I am going out with the guy, who cheated on her sister. My mind was overcrowded with these hectic events, that my head started pounding with pain. I did not even realise when we had already reached Pearl's car. I slid into the passenger seat with great reluctance. 

The engine roared to life and in no time, Pearl drove his car out of the RMC campus. 

"Good riddance! You do not have to worry about Kelly anymore. She is not going to come between us-"
