Chapter Nine - Hidden plans

It's been almost a month since the little pups were born, and everyone grew to love the little ones. Kira was definitely the more fiesty one out of the two, whereas Kiron was calm and quiet, almost polar opposites of each other. 

In this time though, it has not all been sunshine and happiness. There have been a few Rouge attacks, but luckily they were always stopped at the border. But something seemed a bit off to Peyton. He knew he would have to discuss it with his brothers, but he didn't want to send everyone on a wild goose chase. He knew his brothers would believe him and as future Alphas they would have to check for any other threat that might be lurking in the vicinity, but he was worried that he might be wrong. 

Which brings him to where he was right now, outside his parents house, with the twins. He was hoping his Papa was home so he could discuss it with him, and maybe get some advise from the Alpha before saying anything to his brothers and Mate. The only problem, is actually getting hold of his Papa. He still has a lot of Alpha duties, even though he had handed over most of them to his brothers. The official ceremony to hand over the titles of Alpha and Luna, will only happen once this whole mess with Belladonna has been sorted out. Things were just too unstable right now. 

Peyton rang the bell and only had to wait for a few seconds before an over excited Evan opened the door wide, smiling at his son and the babies. "My grandbabies!!" he squealed, rushing them through the door, wanting the little pups out of their stroller so he could get to them. Peyton just giggled at his daddy's excitement. Evan might be quiet and reserved in front of others, but when it came to his Mate and pups, he didn't hold back at all. 

Jaxon came into the lounge to see what the commotion was about and his eyes lit up when they landed on his sweet Mate, trying to wrestle the babies out of the straps holding them secure. He chuckled and went to help his Mate, then turned to his youngest son, once he had the two small pups in his Mate's arms. He opened his arms and Peyton gladly stepped into them, hugging him tightly. He actually missed them a lot, now that he was with his Mate and children all the time. 

"I missed you guys so much Papa. I'm sorry I don't see you guys more often." he mumbled against his Papa's chest. Jaxon squeezed him tighter, before pulling back to look down at his small son. "It's okay sweetheart. Daddy and I both know how busy you become with your Mate and now you also have the twins who need you attention as well. Trust me, we would be more upset if you neglected your Mate or children just to spend more time with us. They are the ones who need you right now." he said, all the while soothingly rubbing circles on Peyton's small back.

"Thanks Papa. I actually came for a reason. I need some advise from you." Peyton told his dad, hoping his Papa won't think he is being a paranoid fool. Jaxon motioned for his son to continue so Peyton took a deep breath and decided to push on. "I've been thinking of all these little border skirmishes we have been having. This seems almost too small and tame to be Belladonna's work, and I keep getting this feeling like there is something else going on." I finish talking, all the while looking at my Papa, while daddy seems to be just as interested in what I am saying. He is sitting on the carpet, with the twins lying in front of him, but he is focused on what Peyton is saying, giving his youngest son a proud smile, before concentrating back on the babies again.

"So, what? You think that maybe the skirmishes are just a distraction for something far worse that is being plotted?" Jaxon asks his son, feeling proud as well. Peyton might be tiny, but his intelligence levels as well as his strategy plans were something to be seen to be believed. Phoenix and Paxton might be the future Alphas, but they would do very well to have Peyton as an advisor, which is something he was planning on talking to the other two about.
